- jacksons98, on 11/08/2007, -4/+35These are all features that weren't included when you purchased your PS3. You are now getting all the things you mentioned and for free. Why are you upset?
Personally I've been happy with how fast these updates are coming and how responsive Sony has been to the PS3 community. Playlists for example; have been a huge gripe for many people, now we have them. They even took it a step further and included it for pictures something I didn't even think of. That's good support. - idiggitall, on 11/08/2007, -6/+30The game(s) are here. COD4 is all you need until MGS4 and GT5.
- Microdot, on 11/08/2007, -3/+26you mean like... heavenly sword, or ratchet and clank, or motorstorm, or resistance, or eye of judgement, or warhawk? those upper rated exclusives are out now. more coming this month, next month, and the first quarter of 08. or... you can just sit there and use the same tired excuse the rest of the xbox fanboys use that no longer holds weight for them either.
- santasing, on 11/08/2007, -4/+24I suppose you are already done with RFOM, Warhawk, HS, Lair, R&C just to name the exclusives. How about COD4? That not good enough for you yet? I will ask again a couple weeks later when AC and Uncharted are out.
Let's try an experiment. Why don't you actually buy a PS3 and use it before trolling? - shinythingy, on 11/07/2007, -1/+19Your obviously an intelligent person so tell us. How would you go about implementing in game XMB? You got the PS3, SONY never said anything about 2.0 having in-game XMB and your disappointed it isn't here? Who's fault is that? Its yours ***** wit. You just assumed it would come, you feel for the hype and now look at you. You're bitching about something you hoped was here and what you want. You sound like a ***** child, grow up moron.
Yes you did miss something which to be honest shouldn't be surprising from you. It means that you can go to any wifi hotspot in the world, use your PSP to turn on the PS3 remotely and browse your files. You can even search through your media server if you have it enabled and play those files and when your done you can turn it off again. Its not that hard to understand but i suppose it is asking a lot for you to understand. - supafuzz, on 11/08/2007, -2/+17According to the Playstation Blog http://blog.us.playstation.com "We’ve added several other features in this update. I’ll soon be back with more details with a quick video demo of some of the new features." So it seems there is more to this update.
- RooDoG, on 11/08/2007, -1/+14Uncharted and Assassins Creed later this month... Im happy with Warhawk and Rachet at the moment as well!
- JayD16, on 11/08/2007, -1/+14What does that even mean? I've never had problems with playing games on the PS3. Downloads could be faster...maybe. But its never been unreliable.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you don't even have a PS3. - santasing, on 11/10/2007, -2/+14Yes I have played Lair. I rented it first and then I bought it. You see, I prefer to make up my mind for my own. Its a great game. And to the whiney reviewers, I would say, its a dragon, its not supposed to turn on a dime.
- Microdot, on 11/08/2007, -3/+15did sony officially announce in game xmb? no. you got all excited about rumors, and now choose to act like a whiney 4 year old because the rumors were not true.
what a sad life you must lead.
i for one am happy with the constant stream of updates. they have been rolling out regularly, and each one making a pretty good leap forward. i also enjoy the open platform and approach. when was the last time you made a theme for your xbox? when was the last time you installed ubuntu on your xbox? when was the last time ms gave you tools to create anything for your xbox? - shinythingy, on 11/07/2007, -1/+12Well they come twice a year, the PS3 updates come every other month or so.
- EBFoxbat, on 11/08/2007, -1/+12Ratchet is the most pure fun I've had playing a console game in a long time. Every so often it's nice not have have sweaty palms or utter confusion as to how to get from point A to point B.
- shinythingy, on 11/08/2007, -1/+12He isn't satisfied, so what? He basically made a post bitching about how he feel for hype, its his fault he's disappointed.
- parabolee, on 11/11/2007, -6/+16These new additions are great. But no in-game XMB = disappointing!
- shinythingy, on 11/07/2007, -2/+11Great update in my opinion especially the Information board. I was thinking about something like it the other day, it should be very useful. I'm not disappointed at all with this. Why? Because i didn't fall for the hype i expected nothing from this update and got so much out of it, unfortunately some people have problems where they mistake hype for fact.
- smackafiyah, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8Whats this in-game XBL thing I keep hearing about?
- KrustyTClown, on 11/07/2007, -1/+9the trolls are coming!
- SentencedToBurn, on 11/07/2007, -4/+12Koonchu people are burying Axis because he comes out sounding like a bitch.
- shinythingy, on 11/07/2007, -6/+13still wayyy more expensive
- JayD16, on 11/08/2007, -1/+8How do you spend $400 on games and not feel like the system is worthwhile yet?
- santasing, on 11/08/2007, -1/+7Very excited about this. Looks a lot better also. I have never had a handheld, at least not a PSP, but I might get one just for this. I am trying to get some info on the fact that there is a PSP GPS accessory which is available in Japan. Does anyone know if that is available here and if so, is it a good GPS?
If yes, I would buy one in a heartbeat. - BlackholeStorm, on 11/07/2007, -1/+7Is it just me, or does the new theme seem similar to the Sprint commercials.
- idiggitall, on 11/07/2007, -2/+8cross media bar. kinda how XBOX has theirs set up....but better.
- JayD16, on 11/07/2007, -1/+7When people say they want XMB in game, what they are really saying is they want in-game music, full friend chat, and maybe web browsing.
- triplehelix, on 11/11/2007, -0/+6this update may be a signifigant rewrite of the firmware, laying down the groundwork for future updates.
- uncommonsmoke, on 11/08/2007, -1/+7No in-game XMB and still no ability to play your music while playing your arcade games is very disappointing. However, they sound committed to coming out with those features. 2.0 still offers things that I wasn't expecting which is good but I'll still be waiting for those main features.
- santasing, on 11/07/2007, -1/+7Whatever helps you sleep at night.
- Zamfir, on 11/07/2007, -1/+7http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/11/07/firmware ...
- Jholder112233, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5SO you can voice chat people on your friends list while playing a different game to them. To check messages. To accept friend requests. The list goes on.
- jostheller, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VszZ_63Ap8I
warning... elevator music, really boring... but skip the first 3/4ths and they give you an example of what sony has planned. But apparently isn't coming out now... - Rupan, on 11/07/2007, -1/+6PS3 needs a ***** in-game XMB. This is one of many reasons why I always pick up Cross Platform titles on my 360 instead of PS3.
- piper999, on 11/08/2007, -0/+5You mean its helping you overcome symptoms of Alzheimer's disease?
- Mejogid, on 11/08/2007, -0/+4Single percentage digits? More like single basis points... digg is hugely insignificant compared to the vast numbers of people that buy game consoles.
- santasing, on 11/08/2007, -2/+6Yep sales figures, sure. PS3 sold as much as the XBox did in its first year despite having all the competetion from XBOx, and trolling like people like you. You can't keep a good thing down.
I would suggest you take your efforts elsewhere seeing as not a whole lot of consumers, I would say in the single percentage digits read Digg. - smackafiyah, on 11/07/2007, -2/+6All I heard was crying. Its not Sony's fault he spent $1000. He could just sell it and get at least half of that money back.
- jkoski, on 11/09/2007, -0/+4..said the person who posted "...WTF is "XMB"? Who else is ***** tired of half-wits and douchebags dropping acronyms out of their asses expecting everyone to be 'on board' with them? Newsflash dickwad, the first time you drop an acronym in an article, ANY ARTICLE, you spell it out. Even if the acronym may used throughout the story, spell it out the first time you asswipes."
- mooninite, on 11/08/2007, -2/+6XMB is the main interface for the PS3. It's what you get when you turn on the PS3. You can think of it as the "desktop" to the console. You can multi-task web browse and listen to music, but you cannot watch a movie or play a game and get to the XMB. Not really necessary, IMO, but some people are QQ'ing pretty hard about it.
- jkoski, on 11/07/2007, -1/+5XMB is how *SONY* refers to the interface. If a PS3 firmware update is something important to you and that you felt compelled to read and comment about, it's assumed that you have a PS3 or at least familiar enough with it to know that already.
Unless you're a trolling fanboy douche. - jkoski, on 11/07/2007, -1/+4now *that's* a little more clever... bravo!
- triplehelix, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3i may be mistaken, but don't you have to pay for themes in addition to your subscription fees on the xbox?
- volacide, on 11/09/2007, -2/+5Well a firmware update isn't a Sony product. The active updating of Sony far surpasses the attention that Microsoft gives to it's console.
- jkoski, on 11/07/2007, -2/+5wow, that sure put me in my place...
- kahjah, on 11/07/2007, -1/+4The thing i find most funny about all this is that the public make these ".0" assumptions like there is supposed to be something huge in these updates. People need to stop that and also it took the whole life cycle of the xbox and first 2 years of the 360 to get the dashboard and functions up to snuff. Unless you want Sony to just copy everything, stop complaining and see if any innovation comes about.
- volacide, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3It's really nice to see Digg members not going into rabid and senseless console bashing matches just because of the admittedly disappointing feature set of fw 2.0.
It is quite disappointing that we won't be seeing in-game XMB yet but as uncommonsmoke said, they do see really committed to ultimately get us these features and in-game XMB would be way cooler than what the 360's guide currently does. Imagine being able to access the dashboard in its entirety from in-game like they're trying to do with the PS3. The themes do look freakin' sweet though.
Very refreshing digg. :) - andshewas, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2When is this Home thing coming out? I've been wanting to try that out since I bought the PS3, and they've been showing it to me in commercials and online...but still nothin'. I'm glad Sony is keeping the updates coming, but I wish they'd get moving on Home.
- andshewas, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2I imagine if you looked up the acronym in relation to the subject of the article (Sony Playstation 3) you'd find some results. It takes a lot more time to spell out Cross Media Bar than it does to simply type XMB. Yeah, it may sound lazy, but acronyms have been around long enough and are used widely enough to merit their existence. So, kindly find something else to go on a personal diatribe about.
- axis, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Here is a video of it:
http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/ps3/game/news/article ... - HappyScrappy, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2You're angry about the number?
How did you not already notice that Sony attaches no significance to the numbers? You shouldn't either. - r3m1x, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Sooo...Sony adds an RSS reader to deliver "Wii News Channel" like headlines from Sony themselves. So much for watching Diggnation or DL.TV on my HDTV and using my PSP to sync my audio podcasts.
- andshewas, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2See, there's this thing called "Google" on this thing called the "internet"...
If you don't know what a certain acronym is, don't whine about it on digg...look it up. -
