Honestly, it costs a lot more to get a pc that can run UT3 than it does to buy a PS3. Oh yeah, and my PS3 is the best media center on the planet as well as the most powerful gaming platform. Is that worth $400? Considering I use it every single day, yes it is.

- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+10Fact: PC games don't come near console game sales. UT3 is one of the few games that has a shot at outselling the console version (non port/stripped). Face it, PC is a unique open platform that caters to preferences of some gamers and has become less important over the years due to copy protection issues, bloated OSes, and well, the grass being greener on the other side for many of the larger publishers.
The pendulum could swing back at any time, but I submit the general public likes the idea of only upgrading every 4-5 years and being able to play the latest games, and to have a simple quiet media center hooked up to the boob tube, not email and a word processor too. Until then its fairly irrelevant since we're talking about the start of an potentially expansive console modding scene for the first time. Look out PC, your biggest strength is about to be equalized. - HAKdragon, on 12/21/2007, -2/+12Lower end models don't have flash card (SD, CF, MS) readers. I know that's true for the 20GB and I think for the 40GB as well. The 60GB and 80GB included flash card readers.

PC is very competitive as well, but the last few DRMd PC games have left a sour taste in my mouth personally. THere is something to be said for PC as well as for consoles...especially quiet ones with USB/Mouse/Media Center support and no fuss HD in my living room that plays most of the best games with no real upgrade requirements for 4-5 years. Plenty of juice to squeeze out of a dedicated gaming rig.

- tidu, on 12/21/2007, -1/+6In all honesty the maps being made now for UT3 look pretty crappy since the game just came out, and the real maps are being worked on and tweaked. Once we get through the few months of cube maps with a light they'll start getting good.

PS3 is a much more open system with more functionality.
Bluray alone makes the difference worth it. That and being nigh silent and no RRoD push it over the top. - xino, on 12/21/2007, -2/+7All the newer ones have them except the 40GB model. That doesn't have any SD, compact flash, or memory stick pro duo slot and has 2 USB ports instead of 4.

When I do a comparison, it just makes more sense to own a console. Consoles have more genres and more titles that cover all my gaming need.
