- deepbrown, on 12/11/2007, -5/+40It isn't a demo. It has 5 tracks and 40 cars...and it has the London track. Plus it has full online. Not a demo...GTHD is a demo.
- EDmAN, on 12/11/2007, -9/+38Damage modeling! That is the best thing I have heard in this review, we already knew it was going to be the best racing game graphically. I'm definately getting this game now...
- truespector, on 12/11/2007, -6/+33And Halo 3 is a demo for Halo 4!
- totorototoro, on 12/11/2007, -5/+32Dude, stop whining over every positive PS3 story, it makes you look like an idiot.
- djSyndrome, on 12/11/2007, -1/+27Obviously *someone* is buying it, because this is the third GT game to get a 'Prologue' release in Japan.
- WhereAmI, on 12/11/2007, -7/+32A demo got a better review than Halo 3. Along with 99% of other games.
- truespector, on 12/11/2007, -6/+30Well, judging by how the 360 just gets one shooter (generally shooting aliens) after another, you are practically buying the same thing over and over again. I just think it's ridiculous.
- secretmode, on 12/11/2007, -3/+25Just here to bury truspector, he is too noisy
- TylerM, on 12/11/2007, -6/+27Quote from article:
"Still, many fans will be disappointed to learn that damage modeling has yet to be implemented, and it is currently unknown whether or not the final build will contain this element." - truespector, on 12/11/2007, -6/+23@truspector
Haha, your acts of desperation are pathetic. I would expect you, of all people, to know the PS3 DOES have games, some good ones too. (and many more in the next few months)
I mean all you read are PS3 stories, so you should be the most informed out of anyone. But go ahead, use that pathetic argument, cause I have just 3 words for you: Little Big Planet. - mroffroad, on 12/11/2007, -12/+27still NO CAR DAMAGE... they should just call the game "HD BUMPER CARS"
- Beastyman, on 12/11/2007, -1/+12agreed stop being a whiny plug about this "war"
- Starflyer59, on 12/11/2007, -2/+12Paying for demos? Is that like paying for an XBox live subscription? Prologue has been free so far.
http://digg.com/playstation/Gran_Turismo_5_Prologu ... - vinht426, on 12/12/2007, -1/+11This is pissing me off, sorry to go off topic but do you guys see a lot of sony fans trolling 360 articles? because most of the time when i look at the comments of a ps3 related article, i will see so many delusional xbots getting dugg the ***** down because of their blatant ignorance and retardation. Is it just me or xbots just generally very defensive of their console?? insecurity much...
- ZenMojo, on 12/12/2007, -1/+9PS3 fans don't care about the Xbox 360. Just like PS2 fans didn't care about the Xbox. It's the Xbots with something to prove.
That said, I bet if this game had Mario as an optional decal it would have been 40/40. - MasterPlayer, on 12/11/2007, -8/+16This game will sell PS3s considering how GT3 is one of the best selling PS2 games.
- sam98597, on 12/11/2007, -4/+11By that logic, it should be Xbox 360th place.
- Araxen, on 12/12/2007, -0/+7This game will make my TV have an orgasm.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -1/+8except thats a quote of a quote from a different article who admits they do not have the final build of GT5 prolouge.... famitsu has the final build. we need a translation of THAT article
- mokkos, on 12/11/2007, -3/+10If the car shows damage and doesn't affect the driving, does it really matter if the cars shows damage visually or not? In most games with car damage, damage is merely a decoration.
- cyrix, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6Two different accounts chief. Read a little better.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -3/+9If the Forza team could negotiate it into their game, GT5 can have it too.
- Dracusis, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7Get your facts straight, the GT5 prologue demo was only released in Japan and only for a short while. I highly doubt Gamestop would risk international litigation by running that in-store. You would have been playing GT HD which was a graphics tech demo released Dec 2006, Polyphony Digital have said the actual handling of the cars in that preview were no where near final.
Furthermore, I picked up a 360 recently, one of the Forza 2 & Viva Piñata bundles and I've been playing F2 a lot (Got me a fully tricked out Mini), trust me, it feels like a watered down copy compared to the past GT series. And it really is just a sub-standard copy, it ripped the formula and concepts Polyphony Digital forged with GT and didn't do anything to improve on them. F2 is a fun game and I'm still enjoying it, but I'd be a fool to deny that Polyphony Digital are still the true masters of this genre.
If you like F2, you'll love GT5. - RyanBlueThunder, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7I own a 360 (and loved Forza on the original Xbox) but I will buy a PS3 for this game, with ONE CONDITION:
The game MUST HAVE RUMBLE!
How else will I be able to feel my tires starting to slip? The tactile experience that rumble adds is vital to racing games.
/perhaps i could go for a wireless steering wheel? - MrFisty, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8Maybe if Eddie Griffin played this game first, he wouldn't have assumed Enzos were damage-proof.
- FordSVT1, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7Looks pretty, but unless the driving model and AI is significantly improved over past GT games I'll prefer Forza. Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy GT5 though, I'm always up for a good racing game.
- Dracusis, on 12/12/2007, -0/+5Set in stone?
If all this generation has to offer is Halo 3 (meh), Gears of War (ehh) plus a million other first persons shooters , oh and Mass Effect running at 20fps then, well, gamers worldwide are in seriously deep *****.
The sales numbers alone say you're flat out wrong. The PS2 has shipped over 100 million uints to date. The combined PS3, Wii and 360 unit sales don't even dent that. No, this generation is just finding it's feet. It's starting to gain momentum but, mark my words, the fat lady won't be singing nary a peep many many years. But of course you already knew that, and the smarter diggers will see your post as nothing more than a scared 360 owner trying to justify their purchase in the face of a truly dismal 2008 lineup. I just felt compelled to point that out because, well, I've always been a bit of a pick. - santasing, on 12/11/2007, -3/+8I thought you would say, "I am going to wait for the better 360 version" :-D
This guy is such a pathetic joke. I think he's a psycho, you know like those people who like negative publicity. Go get tested or soemthing before you hurt someone. - Dustmuffins, on 12/11/2007, -3/+8Reply button broken? Didn't think so.
- gd1z, on 12/12/2007, -0/+5Not every game reviewing medium is gamespot.
- kyleforeman, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5Can't wait to get this in the states
- ilikesboobs, on 12/12/2007, -2/+6Why do people keep refering to Forza 2 as a standard for damage modeling? It has horribly unrealistic depiction of damage. Take this video for example, watch from 1 minute into it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1prz3z3Dng
The two cars got into a head on collision, going pretty fast, but all I see is a bumper coming off and one of the hood of the car a little bent. Man the crumple zone on these cars must be made out of some kind of titanium alloy.
Seriously, the next-gen console must be able to do damage modeling like some older games like Carmageddon or Burnout.
I hope GT5 will not have damage modeling like Forza 2, because I rather have none at all then have a watered down cosmetic effect. - archiesteel, on 12/11/2007, -4/+8Car damage is sometimes problematic with car manufacturers, who don't like to have their products shown in damaged states. :-/
- HydrogenOxide, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4Famitsu: Forza Motorsport 2; 33/40
- tabledesk, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5I think the other Gran Turismos have proven it does make for a great game.
- Sniper, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4They can't handle competition....just like Microsoft.
- deepbrown, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4And it has. Famitsu are harsh critics, and everything points to the AI and physics being the best around.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4But the GT people really take their time to make this game perfect. I absolutly love playing GT4 and I can't imagine how awesome GT5. I reccommend playing it before knocking it. I've played Forza for example and it was a solid game, but I really prefered GT4 for its vast array of cars and high degree of tunability. This game will only continue to raise the bar in the Simulation racing genre
- MrTito, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5The article description eclipses all others in it's use of the word eclipse.
- deepbrown, on 12/11/2007, -4/+7It didn't. PSU stealth edited...and Ripten have edited their article, and added another article to talk about the possibility of damage in the game. Here... http://www.ripten.com/2007/12/11/psucom-stealth-ed ...
- dansmeek, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3this is an excellent comment. i never understood why the xbots like to post so much in the ps3 sections... not just here -- everywhere. this makes perfect sense.
- craterburnsu, on 12/11/2007, -3/+6Since when did Sony own Polyphony Digital who makes the GT series?
- samdu, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3Famitsu is worse because it's in a language you don't speak? WTF?
- samdu, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3It's not just you. I used to post over at the 1Up forums (before they completely screwed them up). The PS3 forum was under constant barrage by 360 fans. The 360 forum had no such blight. I don't understand it either.
- Dracusis, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3Read the article before commenting next time douche bag. GT5 runs at 60FPS.
- Dracusis, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3I don't see why anyone has anything to prove. Both systems are great IMHO, that's why I bought both of them, but waving your penis around on behalf of any company makes you a ***** moron in my book.
- milo3600, on 12/11/2007, -1/+4Several years ago GT was incredible. But Forza really did raise the stakes. Idiotic AI just doesn't cut it anymore. Now when I play GT I realise it's not racing at all; it's just time trials with mobile hazards on the track. If they havn't fixed this in GT5 then I'm simply not interested.
- TiMMY8765, on 12/11/2007, -3/+6just an excuse, look at TOCA2, Forza, Colin McRae, etc
- Sniper, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3PS3 games are region free :)
- giislander06, on 12/11/2007, -2/+5^^ exactly, forza has had damage modeling since 2005
