- inactive, on 05/01/2008, -1/+16The PSP should get more games like this one. Digital distrobution is a great idea for a portable like the PSP.
- dentarthurdent1, on 05/01/2008, -1/+15i loved the demo of this.
- kaniz, on 05/01/2008, -0/+8I don't own any console right now, but games like this make me want to buy one more so than GTA. Yeah, I'm weird.
- jacksons98, on 05/01/2008, -0/+8I think I'll buy this. I like to support games that do something new and different.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -0/+7.......
Some people like to play more than just GTA you know, and I am sure most of the people getting echochrome are probably interested in GTA as well.
Its not a crime to like more than one game, especially the currently most talked about game, at once. - Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -0/+7daridave?
Whos that? Digg Down. - dansmeek, on 05/01/2008, -2/+8actually one reason to buy it for both is the psp and the psn version include entirely different maps!
it's also cool (i have japanes psp version) you can create your own.... it's hard as hell to do, but hopefully they trasnfer to ps3/psp..... or maybe just to the internet. for some reason the puzzles are easier for me to solve on the PS3 (big tv). on psp i get stuck on some of them for forever!
oh well it's a cool game.
they should due what you said a "combo" for 14.99. or for your canada case $19.99.
is canadian $ worth less than american $? i know it used to be. or are you guys getting screwed like everyone else except america and south america (i think) - Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -0/+6Its these unique/weird/artistic games (Okami, Viewtiful Joe, Echochrome, Katamari) that usually catch my interest much more than the mainstream games, not that some of them arent good of course, but these orginal games usually get ignored for Kill-people-in-first-person-in-WW2 game #8575....
- Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -1/+7"Who gives a fck?"
Those who like to play more than one great videogame? - skinrock, on 05/01/2008, -1/+6The demo was perfect. It explains the laws of perception to give you an idea of how the game works, and then pits you against a few levels. Just enough to hook you, but not too much to bore you.
- SpongeBad, on 05/01/2008, -0/+4Actually, prices for Canadians have been updated to parity with US prices now, as well.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -1/+5The demo was fine, shows you how to play(which thankfully can be skipped if you are playing it again), then gives you three levels to play.
What was you expecting, 20 levels? In a DEMO?
If you want to see a rediciously short demo, look at the Heavenly Sword demo. - cthellis, on 05/01/2008, -0/+4Why is that "don't know" as opposed to "don't feel the need to purchase a copy of Windows for a second installation" or "don't want to buy other virtualization programs?" or the LARGEST category of all... "don't know about any of that to begin with."
Meanwhile, it's a completely uncomplex transfer program. They should be able to whip up Linux, BeOS, and frickin' CP/M versions of it in a few days. - theaceoffire, on 05/01/2008, -0/+4To be fair, you don't HAVE to steal cars.
O.o it will just take you longer to get anywhere. - Barnolde, on 05/01/2008, -4/+8A game like this doesn't come around all that often and it's worth putting GTA down and turning your brain back on to enjoy this brilliance.
I may be dirt poor right now, but this is $10 I can't afford not to spend. - IncredibleScott, on 05/01/2008, -0/+4Yeah, because we definitely need more GTA4 and Obama diggs? I am actually pretty excited about this. I'll download it for the PSP tomorrow.
- DeadHerring, on 05/01/2008, -3/+6This makes me even more pissed off at the fact that the PC store is completely broken on Mac OSX.
- dansmeek, on 05/01/2008, -3/+6i wish it was just 9.99 for both.... i already have it on my PSP and i'll get it for the PS3 as well; it just doesn't seem to make sense to charge two times for the same program. PSone games you pay once, an you can install on both PSP and PS3..... don't see why this should be any different.
I also wonder if you will be able to play this remotely on the PSP through the PS3. as that would somewhat make purchasing the PSP version meaningless (or a ripoff).
Either way, great game! I love it..... and it will be much easier to solve the puzzles on my big screen TV. - Topher06, on 05/01/2008, -1/+4I found it slow to rotate, even with the accelerate button, and the accuracy wasn't as good as it should be for a game like this, its hard to tweak the rotation properly so that one sliver of exposed hole doesn't cause the echo to fall through it annoyingly.
- cthellis, on 05/01/2008, -0/+3There they have no choice, as they can't sell OS X, and there is no market for wholesale consumer Linux machines as of yet.
It would be nice if they made the software where they DO have a choice universally accessable, though. Especially since it's a tiny, POS transfer program, not a damn operating system. - dscomeau, on 05/01/2008, -0/+3I'm pretty sure that the PSP and PS3 versions are not the same...each has it's own set of levels. Not sure if you can remote play the PS3 version on the PSP though..
- Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -1/+41. It's $10, give up one day of McDonalds
2. Somehow I doubt most of the GTA croud is also the same croud that would be interested in Echochrome, not that im saying there won't be a lot of people interested in both. - krische, on 05/01/2008, -0/+3Then why the ***** are you commenting here? Go play your game.
- rjosal, on 05/01/2008, -0/+2I guess I need a sarcasm tag... the guy below me has the same point.
- cthellis, on 05/01/2008, -1/+3You can just as soon download games to your PS3 dashboard, and if you try to run them it looks for an attached PSP to install on. It's been that way for a while.
I'm not sure what else you're looking for, other than to have an on-PSP store, which would admittedly be nice... just harder to implement. It might roll along someday as people get more used to purchasing content directly on their mobile devices, but Sony has never been quick and responsive in the software department.
I do agree, however, that they should be further along with selling old PS1 games for your PS3/PSP, and moreover could be offering a "copy your current PS1 games to a digital file which could be played on both" as well. Heck, they should also be doing things like creating tunneling services with a simple UI that would trick games into thinking there's local multiplayer going on, so games could get online multiplayer automatically rather than having to build it into every release. (Which makes games go without, by and large.)
Basically, convenience + unique features = happy gamers = more money. They could be doing a lot more. - lakuma, on 05/01/2008, -1/+3It's good not to be a Lemming!
- indiancompanion, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2its only 10 bucks, what do u want?
- Topher06, on 05/01/2008, -1/+3Sony is coming on board with making more downloadable games for the PSP, the only problem I have is there is still no PSN store interface on the PSP for actually accessing and downloading content, except for the lame www.playstation.com homepage which sucks ass. Hopefully with the PSN revamp for the PS3 a PSP version might come along soon enough.
Sony should just offer a subscription service to allow you to play any PSOne games on the PSP, that would make it a solid platform that might finally rival the DS. - slicecom, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2I bought this yesterday. It's a wonderfully put together puzzle game. Probably my favorite since tetris!
- Bense, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2"Digital distrobution is a great idea for a portable like the PSP."
That's what alllll the p2p sites are screaming. - rsmithrun, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2Says 56 levels on each, 112 overall. So you are paying for 56 new levels on the PS3 version.
- indiancompanion, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2oh, i see. makes more sense now
- idiggitall, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2yes, but the hooker isn't really there.
- cerealjynx, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2I should have been more specific. It's too much for my brain to handle all at once.
- Boing, on 05/02/2008, -3/+4Can you kill hookers?
- kingmanic, on 05/01/2008, -2/+3buy it for the ps3 and remote play it? I'd have paid 15.99 for a combo version! Wait I'm in Canada, so it'll be $15.99 CND for both anyway. ;)
- Barnolde, on 05/01/2008, -3/+4Loser or not, the fact of the matter is that echochrome >>> you by a longshot.
- Philbert, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2*shrug* I only played about a half hour of Vice City.
- zetsurin, on 05/01/2008, -5/+5Yeah, it's bollocks. Sony always does this - provide software for Windows only. Pretty ironic that they are helping their competition out like that.
- Philbert, on 05/01/2008, -3/+3The demo was too short. I played on PS3, I assume the demo is the same for both.
- rjosal, on 05/01/2008, -3/+3 Yeah, I guess you're right. It doesn't make sense to charge for both, even though they have completely unique content. Companies should never charge for expansions to games either. Also, I bought season one of the Simpsons and they won't give me the rest for free!
- NaziHatinChimp, on 05/01/2008, -5/+4If I was a video game developer I wouldn't release any video games till a month after GTA. This is a pretty neat little game though.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 05/01/2008, -3/+2"Pretty ironic that they are helping their competition out like that."
You realize that Sony Vaio laptops come with a pre-intalled OS right? And its not MACOS or Linux... - Topher06, on 05/01/2008, -4/+2Yeah, Sony is hurting that 4% of the market can't download games to their PSP. Especially considering that 4% don't know how to dual boot into Windows or run VMWare Fusion or something. I think Sony should spend millions to make sure that 4% has equal access to PSN content.
- ksgant, on 05/01/2008, -8/+6Echochrome sounds more like a new color slide film from Kodak.
- Philbert, on 05/01/2008, -6/+3I do. I'd much rather be enjoying myself with this rather than some car stealing game.
- Gloibin, on 05/01/2008, -6/+3Can't wait! Although the controls in the demo left much to be desired (yes, the one control in the entire game).
- cerealjynx, on 05/01/2008, -7/+2It's too much for me. I'll stick with Crush...
- jinxplayer, on 05/01/2008, -11/+3Loser.
