- ChileanGoD, on 10/10/2007, -6/+69It's so secret, they don't even know what it does.
- DeathBorn, on 10/10/2007, -6/+52Secret technology? This can only mean one thing...4D!
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -5/+39ps3fanboy is just a division of joystiq, when it comes to news, they're not incredibly biased, just centered around ps3.
- hendzen, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31The PS3 is extraordinarily powerful, however it is not nearly as easy to make games for as the competition, due to the ease of making games for the 360 using DirectX. If a major game dev could make full use of all of the cores, amazing things could be done, regardless of the difficulty involved in making such a game.
- naden, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25The quote from the interview .. skipping the levels of crap:
"Actually we have one, but it's separate. PC and 360 are in one room. The PS3 room is separate because we have some secret technologies being developed there which are not related to CryEngine 2. Our PS3 development is going deeper than many people assume right now.
There are competitors right now who have PS3 technologies up and running. We had our initial version up and running, but we said there are too many compromises.
Yes, we could have commercialised the engine business et cetera, but we felt that if you want to make console games one day - if you want to get groundbreaking results and do things people think are impossible, you need technologies and solutions for that.
The platform itself has a lot of power, but the technology has to provide a framework for the developer so we can unleash that kind of gameplay." - FENWAYFREAK, on 10/10/2007, -3/+26These comments are bascially the digg xbox360 fanboys trying to make fun of the fact that a good developer is actually working with the ps3, not complaining about it. I can't wait to see what they develop, because crysis looks amazing.
- shrewduser, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24bring on the openGL wooo yeah :)
- specialK16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22Time?
- michaeldpotter, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19Maybe they could sell this secret technology to EA, so that they could get to 60FPS instead of 30FPS in Madden.
- villium, on 10/10/2007, -10/+24I'm very interested to see how this pans out. I recently downloaded the DIRT demo from the PS3 store. Absolutely jaw droppingly amazing. Ive never played nor seen a racing game with such spectacular graphics, fun physics and smooth frame rate. My fiancé was walking past the TV looked twice and asked if that was a game. Just wait and see haters.
Everyone seems to be under the impression that the PS3 is difficult to develop for. I say it's more likely lazy coders resistant to change whining at their non tech savy project managers whom may be inadvertently perpetuating a falsehood. Of course theres going to be changes and some ramp-up time. RTFM and get on with it. I can promise you CodeMasters gained a customer because I'll be out on release day to purchase DIRT. - MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16In other words, they are just tinkering around with it.
- villium, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Indeed you do, but I saw an interview with the devs of dirt specifically stating the PS3 version owns the xbox version.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -2/+13Sorry couldn't hear ya properly. remove master chief's 2 inch d*** from your mouth and try to talk again
- specialK16, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12"Is frepnog being offensive? Report it"
Nah, he's just being a xbox fanboy and a total dick. - Mist0r_Wiggles, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I would love to buy a ps3, really i would. its not loud as the 360 and it comes with a blu-ray player. Seriously, as soon as it get more games and more 3rd party support, I'll be at Fry's with $550 in my hands.

Keeping in mind that reviews are pretty much opinions and are influenced by tastes. I see nothing wrong with the upcoming titles because they have generally gotten positive reviews - johnIRL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Apparently 360 already covered that, something to do with red rings...
- Derrekito, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Indeed, it will never come out. Endless 4D.
- diggrim, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6first, someone needs to sell EA a clue; a secret would be way over their heads.
- otakushark, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12Lair, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword haven't even been released yet, but reality is never a barrier to a 360 fanboy. Is your console in the shop again?
- CMiYC, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Once a series of consoles have hit the market, they are no longer "next-gen." They are now "current-generation."
- johnIRL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6That is there job(I'm studying programming)
- BlindIrishman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Its SkyNet!
- fquednau, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6In some other article, the consensus was that the crytek2 engine makes good use of extra cores, i.e. multicore processors have an advantage - utilization of parallelization is not so common yet in gaming development, as far as i know. Hence, it seems natural for the guys to tinker with the PS3, as I understood its architecture to come a long way towards parallel execution.
- damndj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Hardly. It's no more blogspam than a story linking to Gamespot or IGN. PS3FanBoy has proven themselves to be an excellent source of PS3 news, despite the questionable name.
Shush that fuss. - MalenfantX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I don't care about blu-ray, but will also get a PS3 once they come out with several must-have exclusives. I'm having a lot of fun with my 360, and plan to have a lot of fun with a PS3 once the good games start coming out.
- Traiklin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+84D was soooo last gen, Sony has moved on to 5D with the PS3 and are currently working to upgrade it to 6D with a firmware patch.
- Smills, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5That is exactly my opinion. I like to think of myself as a fanboy of noone. I buy whatever is best at the time taking into account games, price, power, etc. I am a person that likes to play a game with good graphics, it just makes me feel more immersed. At the time I bought my 360 it was beating the PS3 in graphics, price and games, so it was an easy choice for me, however, the PS3 is sure improving in those departments and it looks like it won't be long until I trot down to the shops with $1000 in my pocket too (I live in Australia). Well done PS3.
- untitlednet, on 10/29/2007, -1/+5Does that mean I'll have to purchase a pair of these?
http://cache.kotaku.com/gaming/4dglasses.jpg - MWeather, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The PS3 cuts out the middle man and stays in your entertainment center.
- johnIRL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Was that meant to seem funny?
- NeoTechni, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4No Lair is not out, neither is warhawk. Though I loved the beta
- Blankcheque, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Are you ***** dumb or just pretend to be dumb on the internet?
Read the article, they're already talking about ***** the Xbox 360 won't be able to touch.
Let alone the fact that Killzone 2 is already making use of Direct X 10 "like" effects. Something the Xbox 360 can't even begin to touch.
Looks like you won't have to wait much longer to watch the Xbox's graphical mudhole get stomped on like a MMA fight that lasts 30 seconds. - Blankcheque, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4PS3's upcoming holiday release list begs to differ.
- villium, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Its not complicated. It's different, thats all. As time passes the development houses will learn from those that have put out stunningly beautiful graphics work in culmination with speed and stability. They will say; 'Why cant we do that?'. To which the answer will be, because we need training. They will be shipped off to Sony's uber dev training center, taught all the tricks. come back, make great games and teach others.
- Zettabyte, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Exactly. It's not like there developing this game in there free time, for free.
YDL, Ubuntu and Gentoo can all run on the PS3 and they are made people for free and for the love of contrbuting to these projects. - triplehelix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2i see you not only drank the cool-aid, but went back for seconds.
http://uk.gamespot.com/video/932887/6174494/videoplayerpop?rgroup=e32007_videos - Tenetri, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Damn, I always wanted to use the 5th dimension to branch to another one though the 6th.
Rich me, here I come - allahuakbar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Or Xbox 720.
- PAPAsoMEAN, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6*****, i was just about to comment on how sick opengl is but then the bioshock ad was on tv, damn that was hot!#@$
- MWeather, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I've never seen a Wii in the wild (or for sale for that matter). They must be selling poorly too,
- injury0314, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4wow. I just bashed crytek for using directX in the other thread.
Next step. linux versions. - mobislink, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I have a PS3 and would like to see the transcript of the interview. Can you provide a link. I am still deciding between Motorstorm and Dirt.
- lroper, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Smell?
- MWeather, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Since the game is being designed FOR the PS3, why would it be released AFTER the PC/360 ports?
- triplehelix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1that comment about sums up your knowledge and bias, and fully displays the value of the words you speak.
- rishid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2When they are done discovering their "secret" technologies, the Playstation 4 will be out.
- supersaw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2by "secret technologies" do they mean decent games?
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3The reason the X-box is so easy to code for is the reason I'll never buy one. Everything game I want that's on the 360 will run better on my PC...
- triplehelix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1this was posted below, but i'll repost it here. now i'll guarantee that wageslaven will immediately dig it down, because his microsoft brnd blinders, will not let him comprehend, straight from the devs mouth, that they feel the PS3 version trounces the 360 version.
