- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Well not all of us here have it on PC or let alone Xbox...so this fits my bill just perfect.
If only they release Metal Gear Solid will I be extremely pleased - djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Yeah, it's just you.
- panzergeist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Well, even if you were to consider this game plays flawlessly on both the PS2 and PS3, it will run you at least $15 on ebay for a copy without even the case. So, not only is the PSN version still cheaper, you get to play it on both the PS3 and the PSP.
- s0lace, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Best Playstation game ever
- sarin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Buy a better TV? One that supports 720p maybe?
- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Yes, but as of right now you need a PS3 to download it. Sony hasn't implemented a standalone PSP download service yet.
For what it's worth, I downloaded it tonight and have played it on the PSP - and it works great. - panzergeist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Good, now that you know you like it, go... you know... buy it.
- triPzZz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Awesome for you PS3 owners. I love it on my '360, and I'm sure you guys will too xD
Castlevania: SOTN FTW ! - topbravo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5i did
- spootmonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Man I loved this game on the PS1..played it for like a month stright..even beat the upside down world. Anyone remember the song at the end credits? It was like "I am the wind" or something like that. You could play the song by putting the game in a CD player and playing the second track. Lots of cool little stuff like that in the game.
- ChronotriggerJM, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Oh my gooooooooooood, W T F is it with people and "achievments?" Every time I've played any x-box 360 game I get these damn annoying messages that tell me I've unlocked some achievment that I've never given a crap about, then my friend (the owner of the console) has me hit that button to check what it was and it never pauses my damn game -_-;;;;; why with the achievments? Oh why?
- KingGoonie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE wii fan. Think DS kicks psp butt too in the handheld arena, but I still want one for emulation, movies, god of war handheld lol... so I got one on ebay for cheaper... That being said...
This isn't just any playstation store release. This is the best playstation game ever. One of the greatest games ever. I for one am glad it got so many diggs because if it hadn't it wouldht have been on the front page and I wouldnt have known... ok thats a lie because I saw it on ign lol... but usually I don't even check the psp section since I don't have it yet (coming in mail lol).
And every wiishop release does get posts... as I am sure ever playstation store release does... they just dont get many diggs. But Monday morning check the "upcoming" area and you will see posts for wiishop releases. And those really great games on wiishop do usually make enough diggs to make it to the main page too. - UberC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I thought they did that with 1.8
- JagoX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Yea b/c what he says is TOTALLY the truth right?
I've never even played the game until it came out on XBLA and I absolutely LOVED it...brought back tons of memories of Super Metroid. - OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3or you could download it and play it on a PC-based emulator... (not that I condone pirating)
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3354274/Castlevania.Symphony.Of.The.Night.PSX.PAL-LAZER - somesthetic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm glad they finally put up something new in the psone downloadable games category.
its not quite as comprehensive as I'd hoped when I heard about it a few years ago. - pooper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Not a remake really, just re-translated. Rondo of Blood is the remake.
- drtyfrnk, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6I agree, one of the best PS1 games ever.
Plus, the XBLA version is awesome as well :D - smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2get a 4GB or 8GB one. 32MB is definitely not enough for anything other than roms or a few mp3s.
and unfortunately downloading ps1 games off of bittorrent is the only way you're going to be able to play them without getting a PS3 cuz sony is run by greedy money-grubbin asshats. you download them off of bittorrent and just transfer them onto your PSP with a USB cable--same with ROMs, except you don't need to download an emulator for PS1 games since the PSP already has built-in support for them.
in any case, congrats on getting a PSP and have fun with it. don't forget to check out the homebrew screne, which is where you'll find many emulators. - smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1game saves vary between as little as 160KB up to more than 1.6MB, but i'd say most are around 300~400KB on average so you should have no problem fitting 60+ saved games on the memory stick. however, you won't be able to put movies, mp3s, ISOs, or very many ebooks on there. i would just use that stick for ROMs and get a 4 or 8 GB stick for other stuff. in fact i'm thinking about purchasing an 8GB stick myself (i currently just have a single 4GB stick) and using that for music and movies while keeping my 4GB stick for ISOs, game saves, ROMs, and ebooks.
- smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1what does this have to do with nintendo? so if nintendo makes the same mistake then it's ok? do you fanboys always have to turn everything into a console war?
- smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2i'll buy it as soon as Sony lets me purchase PSOne downloads without buying a friggin ps3. trying to force PSP owners to also buy their next-gen console just so they can access originally advertised core features like playing PSOne games? that's just an insult to customers IMO.
no thanks, i'm just gonna convert my own PSOne ISOs or download them off the internet until Sony decides to stop treating their customers like we're complete idiots. - mokkos, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Torrents are your buddies. Nintendo screwed up by making you have to have a Wii in order to get NES/SNES/N64 games. There is a WIDE variety of NES/SNES/N64 games available to those who will look, and free for the taking. What was Nintendo thinking?
- DarkShroud, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yup, 1.8 also upscales PS1 & PS2 games as well.
- DarkShroud, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I hope you're not saying that MS isn't run by money grubbing asshats. Really what corporation isn't?
One nice thing is the PSP & PS3 both use SD cards. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Will this be playable on the PSP ?
- keyboardduder, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1SQ was good but probably the worst out of all of them. (besides any 3d one, they don't count)
- KingGoonie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1But how do they work... do you download to the computer, then transfer them to the memory stick? About how much space do they take up on the memory card. I plan on getting a big one when there is a nice sale, but the auction came with a 32mb one which I know is small... but is that enough space to at least get started? Maybe not enough for a ps1 game, but is it enough for a few nes games? Also I heard you can do it the same way you do it on the computer via oldschool emulation style... like download zsnes (is that still around) and transfer it to stick, don't think thats a bit torrent. Well, doesnt matter I guess, I;l be googling the info, but was just curious.
And my dvdfab dvd burner has an option for burning to psp. I suspect this also has to do with tranfering to a memory card (and alot of space needed)? - Elric77, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Bit Torrents. Go get em tiger!
- crossers, on 07/17/2008, -0/+0amazing game! well done!

http://www.chasr.org/ - iamteamc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I dont know why anyone would really get upset or complain if a demo is in the UK store and not the US store, its gotta be the same demo (in english), just do what everyone else does and make a UK account. Its almost crazy imo they dont just make a universal english store and store's for other languages but I guess they want to tailor releases for diff regions. I hope the Heavenly Sword Demo comes out next week like someone said, or at least Lair.
- Turnus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2One of the best video games ever made. Tell me how your emulation methods for the PC, I need this game!
- KyleMistry, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1'Cause everyone has a PS1. Sure, it may be a console almost 20 years old, but I'm sure everyone, even those who weren't into gaming back then, can simply find a version of this game to play on their conveniently owned, and still functional, PS1.
- smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1don't know why you're getting buried. i completely agree with you. it's like they have no respect at all for their customers and just try to exploit every opportunity they can to screw us over. there is absolutely no reason why the PSN shouldn't be able to be accessed by the PSP directly. i mean, it's a Wi-Fi enabled device right? they better be working on remedying this situation--playing PS1 games on a handheld is one of the main reasons people like the PSP.
i really think sony dropped the ball on integrating wi-fi/internet services into the PSP. i would love to have an XBL/PS Home-like service on the PSP to encourage more online multiplayer game-play. but at the very least we should be able to access the PSN for PSOne downloads. - ChronotriggerJM, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Well you guys DID make the statement that he downloaded it on his x-box. There were no guns x.x; I thought the 360 was all about guns :P
- KingGoonie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Whoa... wait...
I just got a psp off ebay because I figured it would be a nice thing to have, but not worth the full price (or at least if i was going to pay 170 why not get some other things with it too and pay no tax, etc)
I didn't know you can download games legally to it from the playstation store. So when I saw this I was so hyped. One of best games ever made. Sure I would have to get a bigger memory stick then the small one the auction came with... and that would be about 30 bucks... but whatever I have bestbuy coupons for the weekend.
But... whats this I hear? You need a ps3 to download games to the psp? Is this true? Can someone please tell me if that is the case. I was planning on getting the larger memory stick during lunch today in hopes the psp would be delivered today after work.... but the only reason for getting that memory stick so soon would be to download this game. Now I can't? Guess that would be one reason why I didnt know you can download games on your psp... because you cant. But can someone please verify or confirm that.
Not that I am opposed to the other way lol, one of the reasons I wanted a psp was because before my friend sold his he was trying to get me to buy it and he showed me he had loads of snes and nes games downloaded on there. He offered to sell it for 100 bucks but since i didnt care much about it then, and it was the middle of holiday buying season i had to say no....
I guess I can figure out how to get those snes and nes games... but can you get ps1 games the same way? - phaseblue, on 10/11/2007, -9/+7Such an awesome game. Go figure that the first PS3 thing that tempts me in any way is a PS1 game.
- KingGoonie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1also, can someone tell me just how much would fit on a 32mb stick? I know its small, but I just wanted something that would allow me to play the psp and not have to buy a stick first. I figure 32 would be enough for a while... anyone know how much can be saved on it game wise? One, two game saves, etc?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2Wait, isn't there a remake coming out in a few months?

- Septimus, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1I agree also. Personal preference but I found it dull originally and it's still dull now.
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Awesome game? Yes. Classic? No.
It hasn't stood the test of time yet. Pong, Pac-Man, Super mario Bros... those are classics. If any Castlevania was a true "classic" it would be Simon's Quest. - Elric77, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Every single Playstation Store release gets a news story? Nice, I'll start posting Wii Shop releases every single week!
- dankoleary, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3Now if only they would support games at 1080i instead of downscaling to 480p, I'd be a happy camper!
- nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -17/+8Thanks, but I already have 2 disc versions of SotN(one regular, one greatest hits), a xbox live arcade version, and an emulated version on my pc, but now that you mention it... I really WOULD like to have 5 different ways to play this game.
p.s. - i did not buy all those different versions, that would be pathetic... but it's possibly the greatest playstation(1) game ever made. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -13/+3Ah, only on digg can you make a perfectly valid post where people mod you down without a valid explanation.
Guess the truth stings? - aahpandasrun, on 10/11/2007, -14/+3Why would you want this on PSN? Just buy the PS1 version. It's not like you can get achievements with PSN or anything...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -17/+2Maybe it's just me, but I find this game to be boring.
I *love* games like Metroid, and various adventure games regardless of when they were made or 2d vs. 3d, but this game just seems kinda... eh...
I picked it up on XBL a few months back after a friend told me it was "the best game ever made". - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -23/+3Maybe it's just me, but I find this game to be boring.
