- Xyl3ne, on 11/07/2007, -23/+93The Spiderman 3 movie included make it actually worth less.
- murf43143, on 11/14/2007, -9/+54After sending back 3 xbox360 (all with the RROD) in less than 11 months I think the time to switch is now.
Yes, will be on my 4th 360... in 11 months.... - mywhitenoise, on 11/07/2007, -6/+46Already have a PS3, but I'd say the cheapest deal is getting the 40GB off of Sonystyle.com, with their card for $299.
- JesterFPS, on 11/07/2007, -3/+28Too bad this one's not available to US residents.
- supafuzz, on 11/14/2007, -7/+30I switched to the PS3 because of multiple RRoD, and Im very happy with my decision.
- roboticelephant, on 11/06/2007, -4/+22In other news, a Aston Martin is more expensive than a Honda.
- biffen, on 11/14/2007, -20/+38Don't you miss playing games, though?
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -3/+20Yeah, ***** all the PS2 games I have, I don't want to play them anymore!
/sarcasm - KrustyTClown, on 11/06/2007, -7/+23Still more value, I don't see what makes the $250.00. What technology in the Wii is so expensive? No DVD, No HDD, No great CPU, No great GPU, No HDMI. All it has is motion sensing.
- heinousjay, on 11/07/2007, -0/+15This is the web, you know. You're able to magically point to these things through the power of links.
- hockey, on 11/07/2007, -4/+18What is it with diggers and that movie? I honestly didn't have a big problem with it.
Did you guys actually hate it that much or are you just bashing it because Spidey 3 bashing has been deemed to be "cool" on digg? - phike, on 11/06/2007, -0/+13When you say "years," I'm guessing you've had it for 2 years.........since the 360 console has been available for that long. Very impressive, having a game console still working after 2 years. I guess I just got lucky that my NES (19 years), Genesis (15 years), Playstation (9 years), and PS2 (5 years) are all still working without any of them breaking down. For some reason I don't feel lucky........
- murf43143, on 11/07/2007, -5/+18ANYTHING is better than nothing... And then a MONTH inbetween send backs... And you LOSE all your MS data, points, games for your console you bought...
So after a month of waiting for a new system to come back, they give you a voucher for yours games you previously purchased and points, which takes about another month for you to get. - Bootes, on 11/07/2007, -2/+15It's great that your 360 works fine, mine does as well, but you can't deny that there is an extremely high failure rate on 360s.
I'm thinking about selling my 360 and getting a PS3. The PS3 is just a much nicer console, I don't care about Halo, and basically all the other 360 exclusives come out on the PC as well, where I usually play my games. - inactive, on 11/07/2007, -1/+13Come on though, GameStop employees don't get any respect, especially on Digg. I'd say the only perk would be getting new titles earlier than release (when its shipped and delivered). Other than that....
- Zippo, on 11/07/2007, -0/+12The problem is that you still need to buy a computer from MDG. *shudder*
- kingp, on 11/06/2007, -2/+13I know they dropped the Emotion Engine and Software compatibility from the 40 GB but don't they still play PS1 games? I thought I read that in the latest press release anyway...
Of course, I'd rather just play them on my year old PS2 anyway. - MairyHickey, on 11/07/2007, -5/+16Read his post again - he's not judging the old games at all, merely asking why backward compatibility matters so much when you can simply use your old hardware to play them. *****
- roxya, on 11/07/2007, -1/+12I must have missed the part where Digg was only for Americans.
- writh3n, on 11/06/2007, -3/+13According to vgcharts ps3 outsold the 360 this week in the US, I'd consider that pretty respectable seeing as your GOTY just dropped 2 weeks ago.
- bCabulon, on 11/07/2007, -0/+10 It's only the 40gb model that doesn't have it. So I say if it matters that much to you C) get a used 20gb or 60gb for roughly the same amount of money as a new 40gb.
- CLShortFuse, on 11/06/2007, -1/+11There are more deals than just that. The Ratchet and Clank game can be switched to Heavenly Sword or for another controller. Just do a search for "PS3". Still Canada only :(
- triplehelix, on 11/07/2007, -0/+9incorrect. it just took that long for microsoft to admit the problem.
- andydumi, on 11/07/2007, -3/+11Correct, PS1 games can still be played just fine. And for this price, you can pick up a used PS2 if you dont already have one.
- krische, on 11/06/2007, -1/+9Thank you. My day is now complete knowing that.
- triplehelix, on 11/06/2007, -3/+11sony isn't forcing anything. either you can keep your ps2, or you get the 80 gig model which has BC. not really that tough is it?
- bcool, on 11/06/2007, -0/+8if you are getting an HD tv as well, best buy will give $100 of any blu ray player, including PS3. got my 60 GB ps3 for 400.
- Rileyper, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8comes with 5 free bd movies of your choice
- relaxiknwarchie, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8so it has 2 fewer usb ports, a smaller HD (which can be swapped at any time for a larger one), and doesn't support backwards compatibility. I'll keep my modded ps2 out and save myself the $100 thank you. Plus it uses less power. less heat. less noise.
meh sounds good to me. - jacksons98, on 11/06/2007, -1/+9What games are those? Gears is on PC, Bioshock is on PC, and Halo3 was just outclassed by Call of Duty4.
- tehl3x, on 11/07/2007, -4/+12What, Spiderman conveniently stalling in front of an American flag didn't do it for you? What about the deep psychological implications of Peter's new hairdo? Or the conveniently timed disappearances of the villains in the final fight scene?
- souljaboytellem, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8Why is that "suprisingly" It's rare that Dell doesn't offer good deals
- murf43143, on 11/07/2007, -4/+12Until it breaks.
- BobMysterioso, on 11/07/2007, -0/+7Well FREE Penn Station is nice, but that will kill you in short order. And GH3 or Super Mario Sunshine are nice perks. Breaks are pretty nice - now the holiday season is coming up and that sucks balls in retail. But with the other perks you can sit back, rock out to Sweet Child O Mine and burp grilled onions in their faces while telling them you don't have a game.
As far as breaks go, we're all wasting time on Digg. - dadood, on 11/07/2007, -2/+9I have never owned a 360 so I don't know squat about the RROD but there sure are a lot of people claiming it happened to them. However I do own a PS3 60GB, it worked for 4 months and then died on me. My replacement is on its way to me now. Sony was very professional and pretty fast I guess. The whole process has taken about 2 weeks.
- davewelsh79, on 11/07/2007, -0/+7I've seen their ad. It says something like "on all desktop & notebook +models". What's a +model? Something they don't advertise in the same ad, I imagine. I bet the so called +models are significantly more than $500.
- NSMike, on 11/07/2007, -6/+13I never had a PS2, never really wanted one, but I was considering the PS3 for a blu-ray player. Would've been nice for me to take advantage of the huge catalog and practically infinite supply of cheap, used PS2 games (especially since the PS3 catalog is so weak at the moment), but since the cheapest option includes none of that, and by the time the versions with BC get cheap enough, blu-ray players will be cheaper than the PS3, so Sony won't see any of my money go to the PS3 at all.
- souljaboytellem, on 11/07/2007, -0/+7That makes me want to go check out my dad's atari..
- hockey, on 11/06/2007, -2/+9Man that's actually a good point. . . I never considered that. Granted Nintendo can charge whatever they want but you make a VERY good point.
Dugg for making me go "hmmmm". - terminalpariah, on 11/06/2007, -0/+7Ratchet and Clank is the best game on the PS3 right now! Why on earth would you do such a thing??
- shredswithpiks, on 11/07/2007, -4/+11the reason I have PS2 or PS1 games is because I have a PS2/PS1. I already have backwards compatibility...
- DarkDx, on 11/07/2007, -1/+8I have 4 PS3s.
- swiftekho, on 11/07/2007, -4/+11Oh I know we don't get any respect, and it sucks, half the people at my store are straight up gamers with nothing to do. But, the Reserve and Subscription sales are annoying.. Yes, they are annoying to us too. We don't get pleasure out of pitching that to every customer.
We don't get any new titles early. We get to check anything we want out of the store, play it, bring it back. That's about it.
Our wages are ***** because our job is easy, I literally have played Guitar Hero 3 at work more than I have worked this week. - dunlop, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6It is for a Canadian website so my money is on Canadian dollars :P
- rockstar1o9, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6How do you get the $299 deal on SonyStyle? Do you just log in and pay with your Sony card? Do you need to log in through the Chase website? Is there a promo code?
- bCabulon, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6Like the marvel game that is on PS3 as well? Or mabey you were refering to GRAW2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Stranglehold, Oblivion, Skate, Dirt, Virtual Fighter, Guitar Hero III, Madden, Fight Night, Tiger Woods 07/08, or Splinter Cell Double Agent. Oh, wait. Those are all on ps3 too.
Xbox 360 has some good exclusives (Bioshock, AC6), but it isn't the only system with games worth playing. - cash0utcurse, on 11/06/2007, -1/+7ZING! chaosprofessor: you sir, are an idiot. how can you compare the price of the ps3 and the wii as if they have the same hardware?
- triplehelix, on 11/07/2007, -3/+9first off, sony is the one that brought BC to the table. second off excuse? no, reason. customers were SCREAMING about price, they did surveys, found BC wasn't important to most people, and they came up with a plan to offer a cheaper model.
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6Are you kidding me? When I worked at Blockbuster we always raided the new shipments and could buy anything on the spot at 20% off. So I could have new movies or games up to 5 days early sometimes. GameStop sux.
- charlescheese, on 11/07/2007, -0/+580 gig is 80% or more backwards compatible with the possibility of getting better in time.
Most people who are buying a PS3 probably already have a PS2. And let's be honest, how often do you play PS2 games once you've got the PS3? The answer for me is never. I even picked up a couple PS2 games after buying my PS3 and they look like such ass stretched to 1080p that I just couldn't swallow playing those games. There are plenty of good games out there now on PS3 to keep you happy without messing with PS3 games which now feel completely outdated.
If I didn't already have the 60gig I would definitely be picking up the 40gig version from Sony Style for $300 with 5 free BD's. That's a killer deal. -
