- Aceanuu, on 10/10/2007, -11/+74Hey, its a PS3 game that look pretty awes-*is murdered by trolls*
Come on guys, its on PS3 and its still cool! How awesome is that?
And yes, KillZone 2 does graphically look amazing. - Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -14/+41Why does every PS3 dev always do the "I couldn't have done it without Blu-Ray/ Cell processor" spiel?
- i4mt3hwin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+29I those of you who are saying "Wow it's a GoW clone, duck and cover system, blind fire, lack of a hud" have played Killswitch before. Killswitch was the game that started this all, even Cliff B. stated that they took a lot of their ideas from that game.
- loganhid, on 10/10/2007, -9/+26Graphically this game looks awesome, i just hope the gameplay and story is good.
- StateofMind09, on 10/10/2007, -7/+23Well it's the most impressive looking console game ever. There's still room for improvement though, some of the textures look...well they look early (which they are). This game is going to look much better by the time it goes gold. I love the atmosphere and the overall leap presented in details and animations. Some of the lighting and blur going on is insane.
Also, saying that the gameplay sucks just makes it obvious that this game threatens your fanboy ego. I seriously doubt you've played it, and everyone who has says that the game actually feels as good as it looks. It's just a shame that this game will probably be out late next year. - Responder656, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18but killzone 1 1/2 rocked before, so we wanted more
http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/killzoneliberation/index.html?tag=result;title;1 - blaser, on 10/10/2007, -17/+32because they couldn't, the cell cpu can do so many calculations that is heavily required for better AI, also the blue-ray disc can hold more data for maps that will be used for multiplayer gaming.
- blaser, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19I work on AI a lot on a regular computer it would take me 45minutes to do certain calculations whereas the cell cpu can do it in seconds. What matters is floating point calculations and the cell can do more than twice the x360. don't beleive everything youo read especially on game sites that are often funded by the like of microsoft
- LiquidChimera, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17I'm not sure... but 2 gigs per level, i think we would all want more than 4 levels of gameplay
- StateofMind09, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Unless you've refused to watch a single video of Killzone 2 in motion, it would be very hard for you to say that Gears of War is better graphically. Killzone 2 does things on a technical leve that have never been done before in a video game, much less in a console FPS. Not to mention this game is still in alpha stage.
I think a good comparison would be between Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy VII. You could take a screenshot of each of those games and argue that the sprites in VI looked better than those blocky things in VII...but in motion VII was a huge step forward. - StateofMind09, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Yes, because in "REALITY" a battlefield is filled with bright purples, greens, and yellows. The colors in Killzone are like that for a reason, it relays a dark and dirty atmosphere...sort of like actual war. Halo's levels are definitely not 10x the size of Killzone 2, as the only level we've seen of Killzone 2 already takes up 2GB...that's 1/4 of what a DVD can store. Which means if a level in Halo 3 was 10x the size of one in Killzone 2, each level would require 3 DVDs. Seems a bit inconvenient. There will be no loading in Killzone 2, this has already been stated. You're looking at a game in alpha which means that the code is anything but optimized. The developer clearly said that everything would be seamless. Killzone 2 EASILY looks an entire generation ahead of Halo 3, which is equally a shot a Halo as it is praise for Killzone.
- EDmAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I love how people who are PC and Xbox fans aren't willing to admit this game looks good. I actually watched the whole video and here are some points you can try to argue with if you want.
1. The enviornments are huge, and if they get the streaming load system down that is going to make it all the better.
2. There is a heck of a lot of things going on all at the same time with no visible frame drops.
3. The game is as slick as any PC or 360 FPS to date, and I'm only seeing Crysis topping this one right now for visuals right now at least, and only if you have a high end PC.
4. Despite several fanboys of other platforms claims, the Helghast seem to have good AI, and they're still working on it.
5. The colors are there, it's not all gray, the post processing is darkening this level for effect, after all it is night and there is a thunderstorm. It wll be interesting to see other enviornments. Hopefully there will be some wide open spaces.
6. The game does seem to be immersive, I like the fact you are always in first person, it feels awkward in games where you switch when under cover.
And to be fair I'm not going to be all positive...
1. The textures need work in places
2. There is a whole lot of screen tearing, this is something that definitely needs fixed, I think it's one of the most annoying issues of modern games.
3. The lighting is a little too dark, while dark levels are nice and add realism, I would like to see this games fair share of nice sunny battles a lot more color. Grey is right for night though. - volacide, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15I read the IGN article on this exact video and they said they actually enjoyed the gameplay which is some good news to hear. The lean and peek all in first person is a pretty cool touch, more FPS need it, I'm done with the whole zooming out to third person just to look around corners, that's cheap. Blind fire should indeed be blind fire.
- mistahroth, on 10/10/2007, -16/+26"Halo releases next month. Killzone 2 releases next YEAR"
Halo looks like garbage in comparison too... - ohthedaysofyore, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Halo 3 = all about being a mediocre successor to two mediocre FPS
- olddirtycr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Why would they reduce their prices by hundreds of dollars (and lose millions in the process) JUST so they can have your purchase? Get a job, buy the system, stop bitching.
- samdu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Halo releases next month. Killzone 2 releases next YEAR.
- jesushitler, on 10/10/2007, -9/+17Hopefully the gameplay matches the beautiful graphics. I remember the hype for the first game was through the roof also. I don't want to get too excited this time around.
- StateofMind09, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Difference: Call of Duty 4 was shown last month, it's coming out in November. Killzone 2 was shown last month, it's coming out late next year.
- LiquidChimera, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10There is a high def download on the actual page. Direct link (?) http://au.gamespot.com/dl_movie/169_killzone2_vf_ps31_082407_hr.mp4?s=6177600&c=movie_ftp_928377&site=1&u=http://download2.gamespot.com/sd/K3eclwUYh06LUbAz-TFAbyyN9CLFIIQ0UGOZrGuv2s8KrpBd4fcjMYbhopn1lyapDPchC9hNDauXCRZBT9V54AH9DPG0tqUg///d4/gsc/2007/08/169_killzone2_vf_ps31_082407_hr.mp4
- diggrim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7instead take an AI course and stop listening to other ppl...and a real AI not AI for game developers (ie, cut down to run quickly on cheap processors)
- NeoTechni, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7While I agree, they are including more environments. The first Killzone had swamps, cities, industrial areas, docks, forests with cherry blossom leaves falling all around.
You've only seen level 1. - DreamVsPs2, on 10/10/2007, -9/+14wow
- Andyschism, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Very impressive. Even more impressive that its an alpha build.
- NeoTechni, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6That and I liked Killzone
- Skitals, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6"Hi-res" =/= high def.
The "high res" download is NOT HD, and looks like rubbish (the video, not the game). - StateofMind09, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Yeah, you're right! This means that Guerrilla Games is incapable of creating a good game so we don't have to worry about how awesome this exclusive PS3 game is! Yes!
Oh, a PSP game? It was really good? Damn... - getrealnow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Thanks
- Harrison88, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7I believe that's a quote from the PS3 song. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=R98qC0fd_1w)
- psloup, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4aww, looks like somone isnt goin next gen for a while..poor thing
- Phocion55, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5http://youtube.com/watch?v=R98qC0fd_1w works
- BlackKnight6, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The producer from Killswitch was on the GoW team....he talked about how he wanted to fix the mistakes in Killswitch and make it work right in GoW.
- Skitals, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Thank you, I'm glad someone got the reference. Funny song.
- samdu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Then you're in luck. So far, everyone that's played the game has said that it's solid in the game play department.
- BlackKnight6, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No they said they hadn't implemented streaming to stop the game from hitching, streaming stops this.
- StateofMind09, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3He posted the size of the levels in Halo in relation to the games' ability to handle it, which means the technical size of the level to me. Blu-ray does much more than allow for "MORE levels." I'm not saying it's some miracle disc, but its benefits are a little greater than what you make them out to be.
- lacronicus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'm not usually one to protect the ps3, but this demonstration was far from average.
AI was far better
level size was very good, though it was difficult to tell due to all the clouds and fog
the ambient visuals were good
overall, the game looks solid. technologically, the game is superb, and far better than average. now please, go post flamebait elsewhere. - MagicCake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3They're already losing money on this hardware, they can't keep cutting the price. Especially with the PS3. Like olddirtycr said, get a job.
- rude0197, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The game looks very nice a buy for most any PS3 owner. I think the developers caught the journalists off guard as they were pretty open to taking all questions and handing over the controller. I think the developer is trying make sure they take their time and have full disclosure to avoid repeating any repeat of the E306 video. I appreciate this approach where the bugs and pauses were talked about, rather than the Assassin's Creed demo where the developer gasped at a glitch then pretended as if nothing happened.
- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2stop spamming your crappy music.
- rainergamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oh you know, besides MGS4, LBP, Warhawk, Uncharted, Lair, Heavenly Sword, GT5, Ratchet, etc. etc.
That fanboy cry is so tired. People expect games to be made overnight or something, because not a day goes by that people aren't bitching about the 'lack of games'. SHUT. UP. - skunkworker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Well the reason why this game's textures dont look good at all and are pretty crappy is because they still havent integrated streaming textures which make it look all sharp and good
- ptaylor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Link to video for Ep 2 please...
- samdu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Erm... Could it possibly be that the cover in the video was low to the ground?
- lacronicus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2meanwhile the beta footage for hl2 looked like ***** compared to the final game, the pre alpha for supreme commander was in 2d, the pre-beta footage for Crysis looked very different, and so have a number of other games. it is not rare to see a game improve vastly from alpha to beta.
- dandonia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Shoots and scores! yeah
- rainergamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How can anyone claim a game is thieving ideas by using "duck-and-cover" mechanics. That is the most absurd thing I've ever heard.
- rainergamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Exactly - This miracle is just ALPHA. Imagine what it'll be like during Beta.
Oh wait, you can't. Because your eyes will bleed. - rainergamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, that 'analysis' sucked dick. Xbox isn't 'winning' *****, the only reason they have figures is because they released a year ahead of all the competition, because once the other two came out, everyone would have seen M$ had a lack of anything innovative or fun on their system besides...ding ding ding, ***** Halo and Gears of War. Oh, sorry, and BioShock.
