- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7What do you YOU mean "us people"?
- musicmaverick, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6yeah really. but it makes me feel like i don't know anything about music, especially the classics. but it makes me learn.
- revjustin2, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6 A phrase like "addictive as hell" uses the "swear" word as a means to emphasize the main point of the phrase rather than as a literal translation. In this case, the level of addiction is being described as being high, but not terribly so. More weight is assigned to the subject as the swear word being used is more and more offensive. For example, a game that is addictive as ***** is more addictive than a game that is addictive as hell. Of course, one as to consider the context and the intended audience as well. In this case, the author of the title probably used "hell" not as a diminished signifier, but rather as a fully-weighted sentiment in an effort not to cross over any socially acceptable lines. In this case, the author may have perceived the use of the words "*****" or "*****" as being so offensive to some that the message would be. Also depending on the context, this says a lot about the person who used the phrase to begin with. Here, I would say we have a case where the person is concerned about how they are perceived by their peers, perhaps a bit cautious, but not terribly uptight.
I am not aware of any direct parallel in other languages, but there probably is some kind of entomological background at least in English. First of all, the structure is basically mimicking a rather standard simile, but the phrase itself lacks the logical linkage that makes a simile work. "Guilty as sin", "black as night", "hard as nails" are all examples of the more expected simile while our friend "addictive as hell" sounds like a simile, but is obviously not the same. The link between the two key words is different. I would argue that while the simile is more eloquent, its usage can also be seen as quaint or more simply, uncool. In a forum such as Digg where eloquence is not always the goal, It could be said that using the phase "addictive as hell" would be more successful than a simile like "addictive as crack". It could also be said that the author simply didn't have the frame of reference wide enough to be able to create an effective simile. If we buy into the previous guess that the author is self-conscious enough to tone the language down, but is not so uptight as to use a term like "addictive as heck", I'd further that guess that the person who composed that line is a teenager or young adult who values the collective approval of the Digg community. - chiefbandit2200, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5Yeah, did it switch the song answers for anybody else? It did that a couple times for me.
- musicmaverick, on 08/26/2008, -2/+7Totally. I feel if I play this game several hours a day, then I too will become an expert.
- BryanTravers, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5Game Instance Build Failed
- newl, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5It is when they provide you with your very own succubus.
- jnahc, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4i wanted to continue... looks like it's gone now
was fun while it lasted ! - GJempire11, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4I feel the need to bury this to lower the traffic just so I can Play it. This is addicting!!!
- ferrell, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4***** THING SUCKS!
(no, it don't work for me either) - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4So...is it just 3 questions? How can I get 2000 points for a damn ipod touch when the max seems to be 350?
- strypersarmy, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3348! heck ya!
- musicmaverick, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3i noticed a few bugs too. but hopefully since they'll get those worked out.
- joekix, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3this is cool. i won a 5 dollar gift card for amazon .

- xXGrimreapaXx, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4Doesn't ***** work dammnit.
- soundgoddess, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4Ok...this game is crazy cool, but hard. Expert level is out of control and for music freaks only. Matching a song with just the album cover??? That's really cruel, but deliciously challenging.
- thegoldenavatar, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Best I could get for Indie Expert was 359.
- dcmcderm, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Fun for about 5 minutes, takes too long to "calculate the score". How hard could it be?
- cfrog7, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2did anyone see the sharing memories section they had? it was pretty neat to read peoples reactions to songs
- gordoncam1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Whoever thought of this needs a big promotion.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2played this for half an hour and now get all 3 right on expert
- soundgoddess, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2@Goosegoosegoose: you have to play enough games to accumulate 2,000 points to qualify for the ipod touch...think you have to register for them to track/post your points.
- Tichondrius74, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Addictive in the sense that you are always there and can never leave.
- Mpwns, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3the real game was to get to it before digg did.
- topato, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3Maybe you didn't notice that you can make an account to accrue points.
- gamebalance, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Ahahah! Great stuff! Works for me perfect. Good timewaster.
- prguitarman, on 08/27/2008, -5/+7Wow, I got all three correct and I'd never heard any of the songs before. I just tried to match the music to the album covers
- WhoDoneIt, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Is every album the White Album from the Beatles, because I can't see anything but a big, white blank box?
