I think it is ridiculous to charge for a game that isn't put together very well. I mean seriously, $20 for this? Outrageous I say.

If only Swords and Sandals II had not have been dugg up yesterday in another story I would have never known about it and my life could have continued normally. Now I keep trying it over and over. Made it to the third tournament without one loss in any duel but got killed by the last guy, baron whatever. Every other time I fail miserably.

After several tries I've finally got to the second to last tournament so far and am pretty much blowing through opponents (be nice if their login database was up more than half the time).
Build that's worked best for me so far was a heavy agility build, relying on ranged bow damage for the most part. AI is sort of bad; a lot of times you can get them into a range war, when they're doing 40-50dmg and you're doing 200-300. It's also key to have your Attack high, so you can hit enemies that show up with high Def, and also so your sword can still be a reliable backup weapon, using Normal and Powerful attacks. I also had my Def pretty high just for protection. Dumped a few points into Vit (again just for protection in tournaments), a few into Sta, and 20 in to Magika to be able to use Full Armor potions. You probably should put like 8 into Str early on to give you a little extra punch for the first 2-3 tournaments, but nothing after that.
The general idea is to stay out of range of your enemy and rely on your bow to take them down. Like I say early on when you have only 5 shots, and don't have a high enough Att to punch through high Def, you'll have to go to the sword eventually though, but you'll want to hit with Normal or Powerful attacks, as with low Str, Fast attacks do minimal damage.
After about the fourth or fifth tournament with this strategy you'll be able to just own enemies, often times without even taking a hit. Only real threat is running into gladiators that have an insanely high Def, hence Att should aways be high. - anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Much like the original, this game will probably waste the rest of my day... looks like that project will have to be finished tomorrow! If it's not very well put together the answer is simple: Don't buy it. Obviously someone spent a good deal of time working on this and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask some sort of monetary reward. Only 1% of people actually go from playing a demo to buying. If you have the "whirlwind" spell, you can use it with your ranged weapon equipped and hit from anywhere on the screen. With the level 60 bow equipped I get about 806 damage each attack. put all stats into str until it's 12
once you're in town, go straight to the magic shop and get a lvl 3 (potency) enchant in any of the types, just don't pick venom
after you have 12 str, each time you level, do 1 point into: str, vit, def, atk
1-2 points into stamina might help if you really want it. don't bother with any other stats
buy only brigand armor at first, starting with the cheapest pieces to survive the early duels, skipping the chest and shield; upgrade armor after you have a full set
don't buy a ranged weapon, and don't replace your starter rusty knife until you have a full set of armor and can afford the iron mace (6-7k?), then upgrade it with a lvl2 potency enchant for 22k
you have no magic so no potions/spells for you
only use walk, taunt, charge and quick attacks
don't walk into the comp if it'll put you in that small zone where he can attack you but you can't attack him (comp has longer atk range). either charge, or just taunt until he comes forward.
you should be able to beat the three tournaments and all duels without losing once
now all your fun is gone :(
ps: bug?: if you taunt with an enchanted starter rusty knife equipped (lvl3 enchant for free at magic shop on your first visit), you'll also get the triggered effect (and sometimes it'll happen just when you're walking/resting!). time to start an all charisma hero with just enough magic for gale? - nobody98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you can play the FULL version here guys:

I had full Champions, the Daikatana (with level 3 Ice enchantment) and a Doombolt Crossbow (also, with level 3 Ice). I had 115 Strength, 100+ every other stat. Also, here is my strategy guide to win. (Note: I did this a while ago, so it only goes up to the 4th tournament. I will update a more accurate guide sometime in the future).

You will now fight a prisoner called "Fearful Prisoner". You will win, no doubt. Once you win, you will get 4 points (this happens each time

Now go to the armour shop. Buy these things:

Boots (192 gold). This will give you a defence of 52.
Go into the Arena. Click 'duel'. You will fight somebody. You can't die, unless they critical hit you, but its first person to get the other
off their armour. This time, I got "Sagan Sharktooth". He has 38 defence, seeing as we are not that powerful yet, I will click "exit" and find
a new enemy. It's random, so keep trying til you get somebody with 20 or lower armour. You only need 400 exp, so you will level up if you win.
Make your stats like this:
Strength: 16
Agility: 1
Attack: 1
Defence: 1 You have:
Vitality: 3 0pts left
Charisma: 1
Stamina: 1
Magicka: 1
TWO ON STRENGTH AND TWO ON VITALITY.
Now you will have to do this again, until you get another 1200 experience points and get to level 3 combat. This is MAX 2 fights, one usually.

depending on how well you fought. You will get another 2000+ gold from him, for that fight, plus all the money you got from other competitors.
All up, you'll getaround 18,000 gold.

After the tournament, go straight to the Weaponry and buy a Steel mace (8554 gold). Now go back to the Armoury, buy these things:

Now duel. You'll win. It will take 2-3 goes to level up. Now make your stats like this:

This is a ***** hard tournament. Most won't be too hard, you have an 80% chance of making it to the last guy - Son of Stronous. He is so
***** hard it's not funny. You will probably die, to be honest. But if you don't that's great. Your only chance is to fly in and freakin
smash him. Once your armour runs out, and if your on low health, just sprint off and heal alot. That's your only hope. You MIGHT level up
during the tournament, if you do, put all four on STRENGTH or two on STRENGTH and two on VITALITY. Doesn't matter, but as long as all the
Points go on Strength or Vitality, you have a chance. I JUST BET HIM! WOOHOO!!!
Ok, Now I levelled up (I was 2% off doing it in the tournament!!). I'm putting THREE on agility and ONE on STRENGTH because the next "boss"
is a ranger.
Now I'm buying a VETERAN BREASPLATE (27K) and a VETERAN HELMET (10K).

Then (if you still have enough, you should) go the the armoury and get a Veteran Shield (15k).
Go into the tournament.
FUN FACT: Yes, you are MEANT to still have the PEASANT shield. It's not that important, don't waste the money on one unless you still have
enough AFTER you buy the bow.
The competitors of the tournament won't be that hard, you should be able to p00n them. But the last guy is called "Marksman Dantus" and he
is a skilled ranger, he can hit like 80s or something. All you can do is charge til you catch up to him (like the evil ninja) or if he is too
far then just range him back, with your strength / agility you should do some pretty heavy damage yourself.
IF YOU LEVEL UP DURING THE TOURNAMENT PUT ALL FOUR ON AGILITY!
After Marksman Dantus the guys are pretty much random, and I forgot to write down what they did and what they are. I'm fairly certain most of them are warriors, so a good strength base is advised.
