- RedS0x, on 01/04/2008, -1/+97I didn't realize how much harder it is to type random letters as apposed to actual words, only 63 WPM....
- tonybcool29, on 01/04/2008, -3/+85lol, I remember learning to type on Mevis Beacon. I can't believe you used to have to install software to test your typing skills.
- mrjit, on 01/04/2008, -0/+68Only Krose could get typing programs to the front page
- pault107, on 01/04/2008, -0/+51I remember learning to type on a typewriter. Damn, I feel old.
- Jonjonjonny, on 01/04/2008, -0/+40diff ai illiad iman opiau... *****. I can't speak English anymore.
- Derferman, on 01/04/2008, -0/+34I have no need for this ever since Mario taught me how to type.
- Authustian, on 01/04/2008, -0/+33I miss typing of the dead...
- Devan612, on 01/04/2008, -0/+28I just typed this 5x faster than normal.
- Rezistik, on 01/04/2008, -5/+27I remember when the average digg user didn't need typing lessons...anyone else miss they days of techy digg?
- diggik, on 01/04/2008, -2/+21Instead of a test, I think it attempts to help you unlearn your vocabulary based associations of keyboard patterns and help you learn the keyboard itself. That makes even new words as easy to type.
- Quiescence, on 01/04/2008, -0/+17Typing slow must be the least of my worries when it comes to productivity. Nonetheless, the web site is pretty neat and perfect for procrastinating without feeling guilty.
- DiggzDE, on 01/04/2008, -0/+16I played a Mario type version where you ran along and as you typed he raced through the level jumping and running. Mind you, this was in middle school; it was pretty fun still. haha.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 01/04/2008, -1/+16What's a typewriter?
- Pulse_Instance, on 01/04/2008, -1/+16Because new words are added to the language on such a regular basis
- overkilpro, on 01/04/2008, -0/+15who gives mavis beacon as a christmas gift...
- thebellmaster1x, on 01/04/2008, -0/+14Hit the language button to switch to US (Dvorak).
- mediaphile, on 01/04/2008, -0/+10@diggik: That's all well and good, but the fastest keyboardists aren't doing it on a letter by letter basis. Learning to type a word extremely fast is far more useful than learning to type random letters kinda fast. There's a reason practicing scales on a piano is important.
- Sornos, on 01/04/2008, -3/+13You _are_ old.
- Nerfdude, on 01/04/2008, -1/+10never gonna digg you up, just gonna digg you down
- Singularitarian, on 01/04/2008, -0/+9You're right, the lack of real words is a problem. The bottleneck wasn't my typing speed, it was the speed at which I could read those letters.
- redmaxx, on 01/04/2008, -0/+9I love this, except the twist on common words. I would get up to 70-90+ WPM and then it would crash down as I tried to enter in what I thought was a real word, but instead they omitted a few letters or changed them. *shakes fist*
- kakwakas, on 01/04/2008, -0/+9WTF did you just say?
- forthex, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8you bastard.
- chinesedewey, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8The interface is pretty neat, but I prefer typing on Typera.tk. While it doesn't look nearly as pretty as this, it gives you the option of typing either random words or pseudo-sentences, which I think is far more useful in reality. (Honestly, how often do you type something like "adopiofifa ffigh"?)
- ChromaVita, on 01/04/2008, -3/+11I type like 63 WPM with actual words...
- Nok1, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8Honestly... just noticed who submitted this article.
Makes sense now. - nightmare1228, on 01/04/2008, -0/+8I will never forget that cash register game.
- thebellmaster1x, on 01/04/2008, -0/+7Mario Teaches Typing. Me too.
- MoIsHere, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6would be great if they used real words
but still nice - adoggz, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6who let grandpa out?
- carlwalton, on 06/02/2008, -0/+6Yes it does.
- seanc6610, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6***** YOU. when the ***** did rick roll become a necessary component of every single digg comment page?
- Rezistik, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6Nope it was a typo...I seem like a total idiot.
- seanc6610, on 01/04/2008, -1/+7not really. i mean, it doesn't promise to make you a better speller or anything.
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+5Cool. Now I can type 'porn' 3x faster. Thanks for the tip Kevin!
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -1/+6thats brilliantly annoying and unnecessary
- inactive, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4Imagine how much faster you'd type using an additional eight. And how much RSI you'd spare your two fingers.
- ender52, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4The point is to type strange patterns, rather than just typing words you can already type fast.
- Jon08CO, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4ha i got mavis beacon for christmas
- MindTrigger, on 01/04/2008, -4/+8Dugg down for douchy "web 2.0" name. READ: short domain names that make sense are all taken so lets make up a stupid name.
- dotlizard, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3tacky piece of *****. go away.
- dotlizard, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3/sarcasm right? RIGHT?
- theycallmebubba, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3'w00t'. Look it up if you like - it was the 'Word of 2007' - and my faith in my country has now officially dissolved as a result.
- Overcyn, on 01/04/2008, -1/+4the dvorak version is broken. :(
- mal1964, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3I know lol wtf I got Caucus Fever!
- dazmax, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2Same thing here, but with Colemak.
- Easyoffbam, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2No, it is not irony.
- rikrak, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2Man! Vegas Dave sounds crazy! How many words per minute could he do on the Ten Key?
- Nok1, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2The third one is easiest, i got 82 on that one
- MavRevMatt, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2No it's not.
