- vacax, on 07/02/2009, -14/+499Maybe the guy taking the screen cap should have mentioned LAN in StarCraft II. Way to not get the point across.

- Recluse84, on 07/02/2009, -5/+223Achievements are not a good reason not to have it. The only achievements I need tracked are wins, losses and draws. Screw achievements.
- thetrev, on 07/02/2009, -5/+213***** power users.
- RiantGorkette, on 07/03/2009, -3/+196A better way, send your message straight to Blizzard, not to some automated e-mail reader. Take it from television fans who's shows get canceled. In the past when Roswell got canceled fans sent network producers tons of Tabasco sauce (Roswell fans get it), the show was brought back. Fans of Jericho sent 20 tons of peanuts, they got their show picked up again too. Its a way that has been tested and proven effective. If you want LAN in SC2, then send Blizzard that message. LAN cables are cheap and easy to make, send a couple thousand of them, and you'll get some attention, both media for your cause, and Blizzard's attention, since they now would have to deal with all those LAN cables. Oh plus, for those who like WoW, you get to keep your account.
- nemo001, on 07/03/2009, -2/+136Confirmation screen or it didn't happen.

- Ivallios, on 07/02/2009, -4/+89You are an idiot. How is B.Net going to be so nuts that LAN wouldn't be possible?! It can track your stats, games played, achivements, ect. It's still going to be a system in which the host sets up the game and people connect to the host and each other. LAN is no different except that it's not played over miles through the internet. It's local meaning must less stuff to stop the connection. You can't trust the connection to the internet to be up all the time or running at a sufficient speed. LAN games run at great speeds because you are either directly connected to the other opponent or within a very close proximity to allow great wifi connection. Either case allows a stronger more reliable connection without the need to use the internet.
I live in Texas. When hurricanes come around we can lose power for weeks (we did last year). And usually bad storms will knock out power for days. My friends and I use laptops to play against each other. We set up wifi connections because internet companies may not run for days. There is practically no visible lag. And taunting each other verbally and bluffing each other with words and visual cues instead of typing made the game amazingly fun.
"Imagine having 8 guys over at your house and then having another 8 somewhere else and you could all play TOGETHER over the internet."
Wow, we can do that now. And hey what's this. I CAN STILL CHOOSE TO PLAY LAN GAMES OF STARCRAFT AND WARCRAFT. Sure they don't support 16 players but they weren't designed to. Other games are, and they still allow LAN.
Unless B.Net is going to have a part in actually processing the game and running it there is NO REASON that a local option could not be possible. Not everyone is connected to the internet all the time. - taibo, on 07/03/2009, -2/+86Our reply "Well....yeah...but we'll be ANGRY while we send you all our money!"
- Teegtahn, on 07/03/2009, -2/+84I thought that removing LAN and forcing people to use B.Net authorization was a form of DRM. I really hope I wasn't the only one to draw that parallel.
- enginbeeringSB, on 07/03/2009, -1/+80"You can't bury a story you have undugg."
Lame. - NDfan0788, on 07/03/2009, -1/+80dugg for the easter eggs in the screen cap
- jmdwinter, on 07/02/2009, -21/+97Guys, Blizzard ain't worried. They know their customers are more addicted than crack whores. Just face it, they've won. Corporate America has won.
- jmdwinter, on 07/02/2009, -1/+66WoW is an MMO. Starcraft 2 is not. RTS games are best played on LANs. Blizzard has gone too far this time.
- asancho, on 07/02/2009, -3/+64I left WOW too, except i put my reason as "I missed having a life".
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -5/+61That'll show Blizzard. I'm sure they'll really miss him.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -1/+50You hope it won't suck?
- dafragsta, on 07/02/2009, -2/+47Y'know... drug dealers don't really read comment cards.
- laofmoonster, on 07/03/2009, -1/+44ಠ_ಠ STOP LOOKING AROUND!
- Crimsoneer, on 07/03/2009, -1/+43Being *****?
- bencanfield, on 07/03/2009, -3/+44He said he didn't want to connect to Battle.net "allow me to play the game where I wish, when I wish without connecting to your system to authenticate my service"
It implies LAN. - Gahgow, on 07/03/2009, -6/+46In the words of the great Peon: "Dugg Dugg"
- userx23, on 07/03/2009, -1/+39THis is going to bite them in the ass when a pirated version comes out that allows LAN play, kinda how the pirated version of spore was easier to use than the real thing
- nullvector, on 07/02/2009, -18/+56There's no way that he hit submit.
Addicts are addicts. You can change the price, but they still need the drug. - christoast, on 07/02/2009, -4/+38lets hope starcraft doesn't suffer the same fate as spore.
- SohailKhanifar, on 07/03/2009, -0/+33there were millions of successful online petitions.
- tonytroz, on 07/03/2009, -4/+3610K out of 12 million? No.
- Vodd9, on 07/03/2009, -1/+32It's not even a petition.
- dienaked, on 07/03/2009, -1/+31Go to the original posted story instead of the power-users story that got around the dupe filter, and you will see the confirmation screen too.
- Punjabdasher, on 07/02/2009, -5/+33Trying to tell WoW addicts to cancel their subscriptions? That like asking a meth head to end their meth addiction. Not gonna happen.
- cersad, on 07/03/2009, -4/+32The problem is that WoW players are too addicted to ever cancel their subscription over something in a different game entirely. I hear withdrawal's a bitch.
- roxgod666, on 07/03/2009, -0/+26One power user took another power user's thunder. This is getting intense.
- Thrustmaster, on 07/03/2009, -6/+32Nerd rage all you want. Threaten Blizzard that you will not be buying their products! Cancel your WoW account! In the end, you will still buy Starcraft II and you will love every second of it.
- BahamutSalad, on 07/03/2009, -0/+23He could have just said straight out that he wanted LAN play, rather then beating around the bush in a big angry hissy fit.
Funny read anyway.
I can imagine bunch of Blizzard employees be rushing to Google screaming "I think someone said we're using SecureROM for SC2, we have to kill this before this misinformation goes viral and ruins us all! FIND IT NOW" - DarkStar3333, on 07/03/2009, -2/+24Its easy to cancel and then immediatly resubscribe.
- Kravin, on 07/03/2009, -1/+23Now the other 11,499,999 players need to do the same for this to actually work
- EricAnderton, on 07/02/2009, -2/+24You're forgetting the obvious problem of having absolutely ZERO multiplayer when/if Blizzard goes away.
- gakkan, on 07/03/2009, -2/+23Achivevements are just Blizzard's replacement for content.
- marm0lade, on 07/03/2009, -4/+25If 10,000 people do it, do you think they will listen?
Consumers still have the power. It is our choice whether or not to exercise that power. - norman619, on 07/03/2009, -0/+20You obviously never went to a LAN party. They aren't so much about the game than tha about the real world SOCIAL interactions during gameplay. I have muc more fun when I play with fiends at a LAN party then I do playng with them on the internet.
Also, when b.net goes down or goes away you can't play multiplayer. If they do not add LAN support I will not be buying this game. - Mship, on 07/03/2009, -3/+23You know by that logic playing video games is a pointless activity because they give you no real life benefit besides playing the game. It would be better for you to play an actual sport, or get a real car and go racing, or go to a laser tag or paint gun range or do the countless other things that could be down in real life that gives you a real benefit.
- roxgod666, on 07/03/2009, -0/+19When they release more spaztasic games? Not necessary, this guy probably reactivated his account a couple hours after when he realized he has nothing else to do.
- Dested, on 07/02/2009, -7/+25Haha, yaahh. He hit submit... Riiiight.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -1/+18In other news shoving a remote up your ass has gone up by 10,000%
- ParticleMan420, on 07/03/2009, -1/+18i'd be surprised if they got 10 to do it
