- korvan504521, on 11/20/2008, -1/+178Never even heard of this thing, maybe they needed to advertise a little better.
- TheDeepFriar, on 11/20/2008, -0/+133I haven't heard of Lively until now---so probably not much
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -1/+107Well then,
I'm sure the 14 people who were using it ARE GOING TO BE VERY, VERY, ANGRY! - ciaran036, on 11/20/2008, -0/+96What the hell is lively?
- LaurencePike, on 11/20/2008, -2/+48Yes, it was short "lived"
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -6/+52thats what she said
- davidtowers, on 11/20/2008, -0/+39Wow - they pulled out pretty quick.
I wonder how much money they wasted developing and promoting it?! - TurboBeard, on 11/20/2008, -0/+36Never heard of it and I'm pretty on top of this whole internet thing. Maybe they should tell more than 3 people when they release something?
- D3koy, on 11/20/2008, -0/+35I love when you hear something is being shut down before you hear it exists...
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -2/+32Tried it. It sucked.
- mongrel, on 11/20/2008, -1/+25It was cute, but so slow and buggy I was amazed it was tied to Google's bandwidth. Oh, and pointless.
You know what I miss? Old fashioned chat rooms. What Google should do is create a chat environment and system intelligent enough to detect or repel bot-based accounts and all that spam. Their folks are intelligent enough to do it. Without all that crap chat would be fun again... - jjpertusch, on 11/20/2008, -1/+25"launched [...] to much fanfare" hmmm, i'd like to see cnet's sources for this.
- hollismb, on 11/20/2008, -0/+24I'd never heard of it either. I bet it was in 'Beta' though!
- grungegbunny, on 11/20/2008, -0/+22"To much fanfare" ? This is the first i've heard of it.
- Murdats, on 11/20/2008, -1/+23as does second life, but its still around.
- DjArcadian, on 11/20/2008, -3/+22Lively sucked!
- AmyVernon, on 11/20/2008, -1/+19http://instantrimshot.com
- EatChex89, on 11/20/2008, -0/+17Does Google even have any products outside of Web Search that aren't in BETA?
- browe07, on 11/20/2008, -0/+15Thats why it didn't work.
- jer2eydevil88, on 11/20/2008, -1/+15That was the buggiest least intuitive 3d world I had ever explored, no one will miss it going the way of the dodo.
- raydeen, on 11/20/2008, -1/+14***** THING SUCKS! WE'LL DO IT LIVELY!! WE'LL DO IT LIVELY!!!
Lively was awful. It took less then five minutes for it to hit my machine and then be uninstalled. - megamod, on 11/20/2008, -1/+13THANK YOU!
I thought I was the only one that had never heard of it before. - PhailQuail, on 11/20/2008, -0/+11I wish there was a Greasemonkey script that added a rimshot button to the side of comments.
- etx313, on 11/20/2008, -2/+13Well the controls and game play sucked. The story was terrible, and it defaulted to some foreign language.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -1/+12Probably plenty compared to what most of us make, but I'm sure only a drop in the bucket for them.
- Kumah, on 11/20/2008, -0/+10You mean, that one thing that is so popular it's become it's own verb? The thing that revolutionized search engines? The one that's the default page for thousands if not millions of browsers?
- AndrewDB, on 11/20/2008, -1/+10There are "competitors" for ***** avatar based chat clients?
Wow.. that's surprising. - Gonz037, on 11/20/2008, -0/+9@Murdats Watch out, fanboys will rain down a storm of ***** on you for saying such things!
- offrdbandit, on 11/20/2008, -1/+10Yeah, this is the first I've heard of it as well.
- AFelsinger, on 11/20/2008, -0/+8um... ads
- gungaroo22, on 11/20/2008, -0/+8They have a jabber client - Google Talk - but no chat rooms.
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/20/2008, -2/+9I had never heard of it either... until now.
- Schmich, on 11/20/2008, -0/+7"promoting"..? Never heard of Lively before. Ironically, Google can often be pretty crappy at promoting their software.
- Charlotte_Web, on 11/20/2008, -0/+7Google, of all companies, has the most potential to advertise their own sites. Putting a text link at the bottom of the Google search page would have made virtually the entire internet aware of it.
- 8bitflu, on 11/20/2008, -3/+10I'm usually on top of your mom.
- terracottapai, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7Dugg for "storm of *****."
Wait... - allicat83, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7Most anyone will pull out pretty quick when it comes to his mom.
- billbugger, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6http://www.lively.com
- sparkmonkeyz, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7At least second life is playable to some degree. Lively was just horrible.
- AlphaSoulja, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7Nope still funny. We'll do it live!
- fubarific, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Sounds like Habbo Hotel
- ToastedZergling, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Once Lively, now Ephemeral
- pooljoe, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5Me either..1st I've heard of it is now
- jsdratm, on 11/20/2008, -2/+7I tried it and thought it sucked. You basically sit in a room and have to pay to get special furniture to put in there. Its a crappy 3D chat program.
- SPRFRKR, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4They should try Google AdWords!
- mongrel, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4Yeah, but no chicks.
- swgc5, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4Fraiser?
- palehorse864, on 11/20/2008, -2/+6To shut them down now would be twisted.
Weeee just heard this place existeeeed
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4It might have been, but the setup was so damned unintuitive. I played around with the program when they first offered it, and wasted half my day trying to get the damn thing to get me into the customization areas before giving up. I then promptly forgot all about it until today. The end.
- Elranzer, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4Sad, it looked sorta interesting. Sorta like Second Life or PlayStation Home meets the Wind Waker.
