When the cat is about to enter the choke you block it and it has to run around the new perimiter you have been building.

Don't close anything until the cat gets close to a wall, just start making an alternating circle, i.e. use the existing dots to make an open-closed-open pattern until the cat gets close. This keeps you one step ahead
