Yemen: Camel urine trade flourishing
adnkronos.com — Camel urine, considered an ancient Islamic 'remedy' from the time of the Prophet Mohammed, has become big business for men and women in Yemen. The urine has become fashionable recently among Yemen's young people, who claim that it strengthens the scalp, slows hair loss and promotes healthy hair.

- Kanuhduh, on 07/11/2008, -0/+6I, for one, am glad this story leaked out.
- sockpuppets, on 07/11/2008, -1/+2I pee what you did there.
- mlwarrior, on 07/11/2008, -1/+2This is the problem with religion. Too much faith without proof has you drinking camel piss because it's written in the Quran.
- mr100percent, on 07/12/2008, -1/+1It's NOT in the Quran.
Go look at the article, "from the TIME of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh)"- mlwarrior, on 07/12/2008, -1/+1From the article:
"The use of camel urine could have its roots in Islamic religion. In the Prophet Mohammed's "sunna" (or tradition), it talks about the benefits of camel milk and urine.:"
I don't give a ***** what specific text it comes from, it doesn't change my point. I'm laughing at anyone who rubs piss on their head because religion tells them to. - mr100percent, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1http://www.bismikaallahuma.org/archives/2005/camel ...
Apparently bedouin tribes used it, and in the absence of modern medicine, it was seen as beneficial (it removed lice and was a diuretic). Considering that the popular drugs Premarin, Carmol, and Urealac are all derived from animal urine, its not that crazy (though I wouldnt drink the stuff). Yemen is a poor country, this is a cheap remedy. Consider America; Premarin is one of the most prescribed drugs for women in America today, and it comes from horse urine (Premarin = PREgnant MARe urINe)
Again, note that only a fraction of Muslims did this.

- StaticThunder, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3I have some camel urine to sell, wait right here a moment while I go ... um.... get it.
- mikefrizzell, on 07/12/2008, -0/+3That's good news as most of my retirement is tied up in camel urine.
- stonebear, on 07/12/2008, -1/+1At least you know what’s in it, and that its all natural. What are all those chemicals in our shampoo actually doing to us? Does anyone really know? Frankly, I don’t trust for-profit corporations to tell the truth about it.
- StaticThunder, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Nothing. Yes. Then do an analysis yourself instead of bitching.
