- DaviDTC, on 11/07/2009, -1/+28You really like to add in how we should think about the article in the title and description of a lot of your submissions don't you? I've noticed that about other submissions of yours. If you have an opinion about it, put it as a comment, not the description. The description is what the article is about, not what you think. I'm burying this cause if that was your comment, it would be buried.
- Anub1s, on 11/07/2009, -0/+25"Some experts believe it could be due to a genetic defect though the animals do not seem to be suffering from any other affliction."
Read that carefully. They ARE trying to do something about it, but can't figure out what it is. It isn't cruelty if they are trying to help them. - angrytortilla, on 11/07/2009, -0/+23Haha holy cow that's so gross. Maybe get her a nice fur coat. Try and protest that, PETA.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8There are plenty of bald bears in my neighborhood. They're always whistling at me from the steps of the coffee shop in their leathers. Apparently, I have a cute ass.
- ArrowheadAddict, on 11/07/2009, -0/+7Grandpa...is that you?
- tastybbq, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6Buried as inaccurate. That's a chupacabra, not a bear.
- Stevosaurous, on 11/07/2009, -1/+7It's not just happening in that zoo, its happening in multiple zoos all around the world, most likely as a result of the bears being taken out of their natural seasonal climates. get off your high ***** horse and do some more research!
edit: try the story on bbc news...http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8345550.st ... - gankige, on 11/07/2009, -0/+5I think this thing's scarier-looking than full-furred bears.
- ileftfark, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6Script fail, maybe?
"Many black bears in central Florida are going bald. A veterinarian says bears with a unique type of mange are losing their hair and wind up looking "like a large, bald rat."
Biologists say more than half the black bears living in Marion County forests have the illness. Biologists say it's the only place in the country to report such a large proportion of balding bears.
A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservations Commission veterinarian says tiny mites attack the bears' skin, causing the hair to fall out. Some bears just lose fur around the face or rump, but the worst cases end up fully bald.
The vet says there don't seem to be any other health effects beyond hair loss."

- directedition, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Good work FI5HERMAN, for not even reading the damned article you posted. The bears are receiving medical attention, even though they believe it may be a genetic disorder.
- jtotheoe, on 11/08/2009, -1/+5Sentences with a unique type of grammar are losing their endings and wind up.
- bunger, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Not true. I remember one time I went camping with Bill Brasky, and he tore the fur off of a dozen bears just to make a coat.
- dawgma, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Searching for bald bear on Google image search yields pictures i was not prepared to see.
- DaviDTC, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Searches that you think are safe should always been done with the filter turned on.

- ophello, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1That is terrifying.
- somebodyscream, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1First of many, hopefully.
- Dragonis, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Maybe it's not a genetic disorder at all, and maybe they're just adapting to their habitat? They are shedding their fur simply because they don't need it. Always a possibility.

- FI5HERMAN, on 11/07/2009, -3/+1I agree they look weird and they must have a form of mange , yet I still maintain they should be in quarantine until they find the cause or the cure!!!
