- Takfam, on 12/04/2008, -5/+16"Fish are always eating other fish. If fish could scream, the ocean would be loud as *****. You would not want to submerge your head. Nothing but fish going 'Ahhh, *****! I thought I looked like that rock!'"
RIP Mitch. - EmberToInferno, on 12/04/2008, -1/+8A day late and a dollar short for cetaceans in American waters of course, thanks to Shrub and his bought and paid for supreme court. Have our boomers ever done any good other than sailing around scaring everyone and making a few good movies? Surely they can model sonar and run tests in say, NASA''s astronaut training pool in Houston without having to deafen the poor critters.
- gtluke, on 12/04/2008, -4/+11Blame Bush
- spect3r, on 12/04/2008, -1/+8Put an End to Global Noising!
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -1/+7It may be old but it still needs exposure.
- tecratour, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6How much longer can we disturb the natural world until it starts to catch up to us?
oh, wait.. - doctechnical, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5That's what she said.
/apology - T8erT0T, on 12/04/2008, -1/+6Yes, but the bird is the word.
- theOster, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4exactly - they're supposed to be very intelligent. maybe they should develop a system that produces gibberish and bring it out to public venues and screw with us.
- uncleosbert, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4you mean the navy?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic ... - gilbert2048, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4you try to spot a tuna net when your swimming 20mph through water
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Too bad dolphins aren't really interdimensional beings that can just peace out before things get REALLY bad.
- deaftly, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3*makes a dying giraffe noise*
- doctechnical, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3My grandmother raised animals just to be slaughtered and eaten. I'm proud of her.
- pyroglass, on 12/04/2008, -4/+7If dolphins are so smart then why do they keep getting stuck in those tuna nets?
- edd17, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2a biased...
A biased what? Oh god, now I'll never know! - jeremiebarnes, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I will be so happy when Bush is out of office and people can longer just use Bush as a scapegoat for all the worlds problems. People need to wakup and and take responsibility for their own actions!
- bobbknight, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Boomers by there very nature are QUIET if your are referring to the missile subs. It's that ***** FM slide sonar used by all navy surface ships that make a hell of a noise. But the real threat is the increase in sound speed through water and the increased range of sound that's the worst thing.
Swimming pools? WRF? what a maroon. - inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Though I sense you know the difference between livestock and ecosystems.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3i feel so bad for them
my worst nightmare is a neighbor who leaves the radio or tv on all day and well into the night - uncleosbert, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2and then do you kill yourself? i think there's a slight difference here...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic ... - inactive, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3Never heard of an NFL team called the Whales, would explain a lot about the Dolphins though
- JKAL, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2In denial.
Because it is easier to look over the fence and complain about your neighbour.
She should look in her own backyard first and clean up her *****. - doctechnical, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2"Scaring everyone"?
Yes. That's why the Navy paints scary shark-faces on the front of the sub and then flies around foreign nations, scaring the bejesus out of everyone.
I don't think you quite understand the basic principles behind using subs. - uncleosbert, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2because we also play the radio so loud underwater it makes them retarded. kind of like how we tortured terrorists with christina aquilera music.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic ... - form3hide, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Blame Bush? What? Why?
We, as an entire planet, are ***** thisplace up. One man, in the last 8 years, did not cause this on his own. - sodade, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Our grandchildren will ***** despise us.
- pyroglass, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3I'm smart enough to not swim 20mph through tuna net filled waters
- BlackApple, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2You can thank John Roberts for this one
- pixelpimp, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2We need to go back to sailing ship, wind based! Does the world need to moved s fast? Does it really need to be there over night?
- Subliminational, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2I have three biased.
- cetaceous, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2One problem with this theory is that the whales pictured in the article beached themselves in one of the quietest bits of ocean coastline, western Tasmania. There was a smaller number of the same whale beached on the northern coastline some weeks earlier but in comparison to most other coastal areas, it is still very quiet shipping wise.
There was seismic work going on looking for oil/gas about at least 15 to 20 miles off the northern tazzie coast but that finished about 6 months earlier, they've just started the drilling.
While I hardly ever see warships in the area (I work on that bit of water) I guess there could be submarines patrolling or training in the area. - djholybolt, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2hahaha! I listened to that CD the other day. Hedberg for the win.
- DerangedPenguin, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2Quick every one out of the water.
- EvilGunOwner, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2"What is the word?"
"BRIAN, NO!" - thedogfatherx, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I hope your being sarcastic.
- Owned1Up, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3Sometimes I like to shove my head underwater and scream for hours, so I can interrupt the conversations of local dolphins.
- XZanatos, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2I wonder if you would keep that motto if someone was pointing a gun at YOUR head? Probably not. We humans are far too good at killing everything, they will die unless we choose to save them from us.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -1/+2its to bad that the japanese wont go harpoon idiots like you
- cddict1, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1We should not blame Bush for every thing. He is not that much BAD.
- pathouston22, on 12/04/2008, -2/+2"Measures suggested include rerouting shipping and installing quieter engines as well as cutting speed"
Alright folks, who would be willing to pay more for almost everything you buy so the oceans can have quieter engines and slower boats? - inactive, on 12/04/2008, -3/+3DIEINAFIRE
- toxsid, on 12/04/2008, -5/+3.....where is the cheerleader?
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -9/+5Maybe they should try evolving.
- Mykonos08, on 12/04/2008, -6/+2you know what? ***** the whales!
- lostsymphonies1, on 12/04/2008, -9/+4So what? Damn birds wake me up every morning.
