- stonecircle, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3There was a photo taken here of one of the big cats on someone's deck, so they are venturing close, though that was a rare incident. We really shouldn't be shocked, as we're building our homes on the periphy of the woods and the swamps. For us, it's the bears that appear on our deck, in search of the food we've put out for birds.

so a panther (lately seen on a balcony) cannot be left alone
the magistrate was afraid mainly of the costs, now a german

help of a congener, hope I'll be able to report a happy end soon. - stonecircle, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3Going through something similar here. Though most of us here have known for a while that cougars exist in this area, officials have been reluctant to acknowledge it, knowing full well that there will be those that feel the need to exterminate the animals for fear that maybe, just maybe, the animals might someday attack a human. Some photos were recently published that prove beyond a doubt that the cougars exist here. From my perspective, we're the ones invading the animals territory, and I believe we must acknowledge and respect that. I am actually more afraid of being attacked by a pitbull, and have a coworker who recently was, as she was out for her nightly walk in her own neighborhood. My vote: Leave the panther alone!
