- michaelpinto, on 02/20/2009, -0/+22From wikipedia: "The Fishing Cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a medium-sized cat whose habitat range extends through Indochina, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sumatra and Java. Its fur has an olive-grey color and dark spots roughly arranged in longitudinal stripes. Like its closest relative, the Leopard Cat, the Fishing Cat lives along rivers, brooks and mangrove swamps. It is perhaps better adapted to this habitat, since it swims often and skillfully. As the name implies, fish is the main prey of this cat, of which it hunts about 10 different species. It also hunts other aquatic animals such as frogs or crayfish, and terrestrial animals such as rodents and birds. The inter-digital webs on its paws help the cat gain better traction in muddy environments and water, like other mammals in semi-aquatic environments."
To help a Fishing Cat go here: http://www.bigcatrescue.org - inactive, on 02/20/2009, -0/+18wow this is the first time i know that this kind of cat family exists..
anyway, itchy-finger cat > cat digger > fishing cat - WordsnCollision, on 02/20/2009, -2/+17Land kittens preying on sea kittens? Alert PETA!

- Premier, on 02/21/2009, -2/+9If your going to post an article on a fishing cat and never show the cat catching a fish your article is pointless
- badqat, on 02/20/2009, -1/+6I would have thought that based on sea kittens being as smart as any land kitten they'd be able to avoid being eaten by them.
Surely PETA didn't lie to me, did they? - Tyrghast, on 02/21/2009, -1/+6"the females weigh anywhere from 10-20 pounds"
Wait, my house cat weighs 16 pounds. Not very big cats for Big Cat TV, and if you're going to call it a fishing cat why not show video of it doing something cool like, I dunno, fishing? - GoKings, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4Would have liked to see him catch a fish = /
- Drakoi, on 02/21/2009, -1/+5and some people will watch this and say, 'you see, the banana fits perfectly in the hand. god did that'
no, pal. it's evolution. - leland1, on 02/21/2009, -0/+3Make no mistake. The cat in this video is wild and dangerous (last seconds of the video).
I remember a digg posting from a couple of years back; a Russian family actually have a Fishing Cat as a pet in their apartment. Theirs is tame, but sure takes up lots of space and munchies...

- putz85er, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3so we never actually see the cat catching a fish. or trying to catch a fish. i guess the title pretty much sums it up watch a cat swim and be amazed.
- Pinkertinkle, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3this is true
- billmdee, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2It is imitating people fishing. Guys sitting in a boat not catching fish.
- Azerael, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2Man, I'd like to introduce PETA to a lion. See if they can convince it to become a vegetarian.

- Archmagus, on 02/21/2009, -0/+1The Big Cat Rescue is less than a mile from my house. Kinda strange to see something so close on Digg.
I would definitely recommend visiting the rescue to anyone in the Tampa area, I've been there a couple time,s and it's pretty amazing. - yoshiality, on 02/21/2009, -0/+0Fish!
