        I used to see them sometimes when I went wreck diving in the Florida Keys, just looming in the distance. They're huge. It's weird getting close to one when you're a 110 pound girl, as if I didn't feel dwarfed enough by the size of the average American.

Another origin for the name has to do with its profile image of the fish represented a stereotype image of a Jew. One thing that I found somewhat funny/odd was that they renamed it to "Goliath Grouper" and Goliath was a member of the Philistine army, the enemies of the Jews.

You can't even take it out of the water to unhook it, you are suppose to remove the hook if possible while it is still in the water, or cut the line as close to the eye of the hook as possible.
