The only option now is to put down all pets. - angrytortilla, on 11/05/2009, -0/+19Cats get sick? Now wait just a damn minute...

THAT'S CRAZY!!! - frsrblch, on 11/05/2009, -1/+9pandemic: pan·dem·ic
adj.
1. Widespread; general.
2. Medicine. Epidemic over a wide geographic area and affecting a large proportion of the population: pandemic influenza.
Stop being such a bunch of hypochondriacs. - philliesphan026, on 11/05/2009, -1/+9WHAT'S NEXT YOU BASTARDS?! OUR PIGS?!
Oh wait... - DoctorScientist, on 11/05/2009, -6/+14Trying to get the sand out of his vagina.

- angrytortilla, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Not the bacon. Please Lord not the bacon.
- Mangeof, on 11/05/2009, -2/+9Could people let go of the ''I can haz'' for more than 3 comments in a row, please?
- diggnutty, on 11/05/2009, -2/+9this new strain of flu could be deadlier than sars or even cooties
- TobiasParker, on 11/05/2009, -1/+8There is no ***** severity.
- diggnutty, on 11/05/2009, -2/+9begin diggdown of nonsensical comment in 3...2...1...
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Yes, because a strain of flu with a mortality rate about the same as seasonal flu is TOTALLY analogous to the ***** BLACK DEATH.
They didn't call it the Black Sneeze, or the Black Day Off Work for a reason. For starters, it happened to kill the majority of the people who got it, not one in every few thousand. - snafubar, on 11/05/2009, -4/+10Mee-ooink!
- CrimsonFlash, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6To NeoSporin;
And that is one person out of 2.5 million people who live in Toronto.
Sad, yes, but totally not a reason to freak out about the flu. - pinkcherry, on 11/05/2009, -2/+8Great, now I have to worry about my pussy getting the swine flu.
- Pensi, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5People are turning into pigs. I don't know about you but I call that pretty severe.
- artfiend77, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5@Neosporin
Inside scoop from a paramedic buddy of mine, that kid was ALWAYS at the SickKids with a NUMBER of ailments related to asthma. But you won't hear about that ***** because of the gong show the media and government have going now with with the shots going around and certain people ( inmates) getting before others (civilians) - joebagodonuts, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5nothing is deadlier than cooties.
- HotLeper, on 11/05/2009, -3/+8lol
- TobiasParker, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Wow because my best friends son who has leukimia and diagnosed H1N1 was in and out of the hospital in 2 days.
Anecdotal evidence doesn't mean *****, All i have to do is look at Deaths/Infection ratio. It isn't scary. - infinitus64, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5keep your voice down.
- gdo01, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/pandemic
- Sucka27, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4China did it to Civet cats (SARS) and Egypt did it to uninfected pigs. The sad thing is your comment isn't as absurd a reality as it should be.
- TobiasParker, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5@art, from what I have seen and heard most of the deaths in developed countries are people with underlying issues who don't go to the doctor until it is too late.
- milkmage, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3amazing. the ***** that can happen in a mere 6000 years.
- asgardshill, on 11/05/2009, -2/+5I (ACHOO!) can haz (ACHOO!) Tamiflu? (ACHOO!)
- kavery, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4Cats + swine flu... hmmmm.
This is going to erupt to the Top 10 faster than a nerd watching Megan Fox in slo-mo. - digitalArtform, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3But how could Humans and animals have the same disease??? The only way that could happen is if they had evolved from a common--
oh my god. Darwin was right. - schavira, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3He's being dugg down too. :)
- TheGuruStud, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Egypt did it b/c pigs are made of dirty jews (I'm not kidding, go ask about their fables). Obviously, muslims know that sounds crazy so they defend it by saying pigs are filthy animals. Yet, they love to eat any other meat no matter how grotesquely it was raised (as if pigs are guilty b/c they choose to be in their own filth and farmed that way).
- infinitus64, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2welcome to the internets and the World of tomorrow!!!!
- Midtowner, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Typhoid Toonces?
- jd75, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1depending on how one designs one's primers, PCR can detect viral genes quite well. PCR doesn't amplify the whole genome -- just the portion between the primers you're using. if the primers are extremely specific to h1n1 flu virus sequence, they will only produce a PCR product if h1n1 flu virus is in the sample.
- yocouchdigga, on 11/05/2009, -2/+3LEAVE PUSSIES ALONE!
- thejenigma, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1@RossDuprey
You'll never know - SpeedSteamBoat, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1@Sulthernay: He said the PLAGUE, as in the Dark Ages, not the 1918 Spanish influence.
But, no, I'm not taking any of your advice. I refuse to take any of this ***** seriously.
Yes, this is a media induced hysteria. Doctors, while educated, are not all knowing. When it comes to things like these "outbreaks" they are not all that better informed than the rest of us since it is obviously not something they learned in medical school. What makes you so convinced they are immune to the hype? If anything I should think they are MORE susceptible since they bear witness to the flood of patients coming in as people who otherwise would have staid home with a flu now come to them after watching the news and freaking out.
No, I will not get a vaccine. For the same reason I will not carefully guard myself with a metal exoskeleton everywhere I go to protect from lightening strikes. The threat of death, while statistically significant, is not a serious concern overall. It's certainly not worth paying into the machine that created it.
I've already had Swine Flu, and it was the most mild flu I've ever had. I got over it in essentially one day.
I will not "beware mutations" because HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT? Why in the world would I waste my time worrying about the possible evolution of a microscopic organism? I have NO control over that. I can't see it. I can't stop it. I'm not going to "beware" of it since that's impossible.
I'm not going to be wary of a "second wave." I'm going to unsurprised by it. There is an ANNUAL wave of the season flu every year which is only slightly less contagious and equally deadly. I'm not going to start worrying about that either.
If you have seen young people die from H1N1 you must have exposure to some place like a hospital where serious cases are concentrated or else very poor luck, because out in the average world it's not really a big deal. H1N1 has swept all through my town, and can you guess how many people have died of it? None. Not one. I have probably a dozen friends who have had it. They all are fine. IT IS JUST THE FLU.
Get enough sleep. Eat enough fruit and vegetables. If you get it, take some NyQuil. You'll be fine. - jd75, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1i hope this leads to a few more cats kept indoors (even though outdoor cats are in way, way, way more danger of getting hit by cars than getting swine flu).
http://www.petplace.com/cats/life-expectancy-in-ca ... - infinitus64, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1that is why i always inoculate myself when i come into contact with other humans. Just not safe these days.
- nullcodes, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Can too. Refer:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_PCR - artfiend77, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Then you got people getting the shot and ending up like this...imo it might be fake but you never know
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR5p_bD3uLc - ferretpants, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1My ferrets both had the swine flu about a month ago.
- freezerburn666, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1O O . .
- unknownpoltroon, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1NO, no no. Jenny McCarthy says its all a government conspiracy.
