- clove7, on 04/18/2009, -1/+50Boston.com has consistently had some of the best photojournalism I've ever seen.
- agentsrecord, on 04/17/2009, -0/+40Dugg for baby leopard doing his King Leonidas impression.
- lxplicit, on 04/18/2009, -2/+39Humans are one of the ugliest babies.
- STBAT25, on 04/17/2009, -3/+39Those Armenian zoo owners should be put in the cages.

- JCS007, on 04/18/2009, -0/+10From the caption for #2: "Giraffe females give birth standing up after the 14 to 15 month gestation period, with a six foot drop for the Calf's entrance into the world."
How the hell have giraffes survived for so long if the first thing they do is drop their babies 6 feet??? - deltageek, on 04/18/2009, -0/+10On the other hand, if you can survive a 6ft drop from birth, I'd say you're pretty damn prepared for what the world's gonna throw at you.
- Rikushix, on 04/18/2009, -0/+9The lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) in the Armenian caravan zoo made me kinda sad. But the rest of them were pretty much adorable. Trio of Sumatran tiger cubs for the win.
- theysayjump, on 04/18/2009, -0/+8That was a lot of awwws.
- JYoungest1, on 04/18/2009, -0/+8Zoos may be the last refuge for a lot of wild animals in the future...and most the time, most, they are treated extremely well. Hell they get better medical care than most humans.
- calypsis, on 04/18/2009, -0/+7#32 is just too cool
- glaroc, on 04/17/2009, -1/+8By the bottom of the page, I felt immunized against cuteness.
- polypropglop, on 04/18/2009, -1/+8***** adorable.

OM NOM NOM NOM NOM... - crazzy88ss, on 04/18/2009, -0/+6Well the idea of the Big Picture blog is to lump together all of the best pictures from different sources. If you notice, each picture is (usually) from a different photographer/agency.
Huge props to the guys boston.com who all/support/run the blog. - Donotsurf, on 04/18/2009, -0/+6#33: DO NOT WANT!
- inactive, on 04/17/2009, -0/+6North Chinese Leopards are badass! Well..that one is.
- MuffinPatrol, on 04/18/2009, -0/+5I was going to comment on the same thing. Some of these pictures are really good.
- pelesinferno, on 04/18/2009, -0/+5yes, only fat people go to the zoo. a lot of these animals are severely threatened in their natural habitat...and by having them in zoos they may not be in all their majesty, but it raises public awareness about how the animals are endangered, not to mention keeping them ALIVE.
- liah, on 04/18/2009, -0/+5The seal is the coolest.
- NJSlacker, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4Tai Lung wasn't too far of a stretch after all...

- commentposted, on 04/18/2009, -1/+5Scenes from the zoo...or Scenes from a HAT?
- zakkysparx, on 04/17/2009, -1/+5Oh no! The bear is escaping from his cage! Someone call Stephen Colbert!
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4Wow the pic of the polar bears meeting for the first time was incredible, you can almost see the "where have you been all my life" in their eyes
- Quicksilver4648, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4You called it.
- indubitably, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4i'm always conflicted when deciding whether or not to go to the zoo. i always end up feeling sad for them but i guess my money goes to better their health and environment.. which happens to be a zoo. i dunno
- pelesinferno, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4many animals in zoos are severely threatened in the wild...being in zoos keeps them alive. a large population (wild or zoo) is necessary to maintain genetic diversity of the species. i think its more reprehensible that the animals are so endangered in the wild than the fact that they are in zoos...
- jakash, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4I would feel sorry for the bear in 16. :(
- elenaadamscom, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4The elephant at the end looks like Gonzo.
- SilverBack101, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4Sweet Jebus...#13 is just too dang cute. He's all like "Respect my space, bitches!" Groooar!
Love Boston's photography. :) - Opiebreath, on 04/19/2009, -0/+4Huge detailed pictures all on one page with detailed but short descriptions for each... it's photogasmic. I love boston.com.
- Igrift, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4#15 and #16 are heartbreaking. Is there anything Russia isn't bad at?
- readacook, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3These galleries will be sorely missed if the New York Times Company shuts down the Boston Globe :(
- A5204, on 08/13/2009, -0/+3I'm gonna go out on a limb here so bear with me...baby things are cute.
- Plumhead, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3The seal finally gots his bukit!!! :D
- TheOneTrueGod, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3I tried to imagine to be (one of) them on nearly every picture. Because technically we are what they are: Consciousnesses inside of a world. Why should empathy be limited to understanding humans?
- guardgurl, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3My heart just melted
- daschupa, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2Pedro the Pedobear according to the picture.

- SilverBack101, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2Yup. That is Calista Flockhart. And Harrison Ford and some kid which I'm guessing is their son...and a Hippo.
- falafelkiosken, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2I lol'd
