- slimjim5811, on 06/09/2009, -2/+221...don't talk about Wildlife Photography.
- cawpin, on 06/08/2009, -14/+229Buried for the full screen pop-up I got on that page.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/10/2009, -1/+49I got a giant pop-up survey asking about Digg ads. Then after that a giant pop-up for a car ad or something like that.. Argh...
- solecize, on 06/10/2009, -11/+57...and the second rule is- you do not talk about Wildlife Photography.
Third rule is- If this is your first night at Wildlife Photography- you have to Wildlife? - TheVirus, on 06/10/2009, -7/+48I thought it said Wildfire Pornography.
- wickensworth, on 06/10/2009, -7/+44Those guys seriously need to turn around, they could make a fortune off that ivory
- h3lx, on 06/10/2009, -1/+35#1 rule should be stop looking at the ***** lions, quit dicking around with the elephants and hippos... get out of your ***** truck and go find a goddamn Honey Badger.
--
Hours and hours of Lion and Elephant footage, they've got days of monkeys and giraffes but not a single Honey Badger anywhere... ***** useless. They need to get that slow-motion HD shark camera from Planet Earth and point it at a Honey Badger killing cobras and *****. The one hour or so of footage is from the '70s and looks like it was shot on an 8mm and copied to BETA-max for ***** sake.
--
Who doesn't want to see a Honey Badger ripping through a Cobra's head at 200 frames a second in 1080p? That'd be better than watching 2-3 hyenas chewing the ass out of water buffalo stuck in the mud... - CeeJayDK, on 06/10/2009, -0/+21I thought the first rule in Wildlife Photography was "Don't get eaten" , but they are really just two sides of the same coin.
- sparkplug890, on 06/10/2009, -0/+18Ha, no pop-ups for me! Adblock Plu-- wait, it didn't help this time.
- Calamier, on 06/10/2009, -1/+18Ditto, screw off with the intrusive advertising.
- RockyCosmos, on 06/09/2009, -3/+20Considering you can see the elephants on the top right, I'm sure there's something just as interesting in from of him.
- antoniuk, on 06/10/2009, -2/+16Rule 34 states somewhere online someone has footage of porn including a camera lens and an elephant suit
- westinfunk, on 06/10/2009, -0/+131. That is a telephoto lens (A canon 500mm I'm a assuming). The photographer is probably getting awesome shots of other elephants where brush wouldn't have been disrupting the picture like if he took a picture of the elephant close to him.
2. He probably already knew it was there but he was too close to take a good picture anyway. - sigmaman2, on 06/10/2009, -2/+15Oh please! Look at the dark gray, angular, porous surface that doesn't reflect radar. It's obvious that the elephant is equipped with stealth technology.
- Ajjah, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12Your cursing intrigues me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

- wendelgee2, on 06/10/2009, -1/+13Ah those redheads...
- hitkaiser, on 06/10/2009, -0/+10Problem is that lens is no good being that close up so the one behind is useless.
- DrDragun, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9Rule #1 is the same for both
- Heavypettingzoo, on 06/09/2009, -4/+13I like elephants
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -1/+10Well, the problem is that they didn't show you what they were taking a picture of to the right. Here's the uncropped picture.

- Rhythmismt, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7Rule 34. Bounteous diggs to the first link to a wildfire porno.
- rogueblade, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6stealthaphant
- fendereff, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Its the same rule in prison...
- mortey, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6quite a random find there!
- frontaxle, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5Likely surrounded by elephants and he picked the biggest mofo to zoom in with the 800mm lens, not the young one behind. I did a 5 day safari in Namibia and often found families of elephants together for safety
- realmadrid2727, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4Or maybe the guy that took that photo had a better angle and the others knew.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4What they don't show in this picture is the nude beach to the far right of the vehicle.
- gumballer, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4A guy who's got lots of ivory is less likely to hurt Stampy than a guy whose ivory supplies are low.
- bbhill, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4NSFW!!
- novice99, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3what about these goddamn Microsoft Business ads above the titles on digg articles that flip down and start talking ***** at me. *****' lame
- falafelkiosken, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3crop much?
- Plower, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3NSF anyone's eyes...those are some nasty boobs.
- slyzxx, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3i miss Kenya, we used to rally in the national park. See all kinds of animals.
- darkstar949, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3That's the same thing I was thinking, namely that is a super telephoto lens either the 500mm or 600mm (see [1] and [2]) in which case the minimum focusing distances are 15ft and 18ft, respectively, in which case the odds are pretty good that it would have been difficult to get a good shot with that camera. However, this is also a situation where the photographer likely had another camera on hand that he could have used instead.
Ultimately though, it would come down to what their assignment was and how much time they had to get the shots they were getting.

[2] EF 600mm f/4L IS USM - http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=M ... - crackerjohn, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3I went to Tanzania when I was 19 {7 years ago) and it was awesome. I did follow this rule but I would say number 1 rule is don't get out of the land rover.
- Zoshchenko, on 06/10/2009, -7/+10Funny...that the same Rule #1 when playing Call of Duty World at War multiplayer!!!
- Tgg161, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3I like how they swing through trees
- kurtzmoo, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2honey badger is the money badger
- WhoDoneIt, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Not to mention the lighting would be better from the other side but the look of it.
- nepidae, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2What you didn't see was the ninja who was riding the elephant.
- snapcase, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2Yeah... totally didn't get a single ad on that page. ABP took care of any banners.
There was no pop-up that I could find. There is a pop-under ad, but NoScript blocked it. Just block 2o7.net and you're set. - wondertwins, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2But a lot of professional photographers carry 2 or more DSLR's at once to switch quickly from super-telephoto to regular zoom lenses.
- Jehutes, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2In death, members of nationalgeographic.com have names. His name was Timothy Treadwell
- caffiend, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1Firefox. Adblock Plus. Filterset.G Updater. Problem solved.
- tj111, on 06/11/2009, -2/+3Other images I might be interested in: http://nl.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1zzi82d&s=5 Finally it got that part right
