- jondus, on 06/25/2009, -0/+61Nigeria + Computer = Scam, it's that simple. How do people fall for it over and over again?
- raustin, on 06/25/2009, -2/+60"I'm a Christian, too, so I just thought it would be helping out a fellow Christian."
- SSPink, on 06/25/2009, -3/+52Because you'd less likely to help a non-christian, right Toni? Nice in-group, out-group thinking. Jesus is love*
*Love only applies to fellow christians. - SSPink, on 06/25/2009, -0/+34No, their victims are just devilishly stupid.
- Disastrophe, on 06/25/2009, -0/+34Lots of dumb people on the internet.
- nightmyst999, on 06/25/2009, -1/+29A 41K9 scam? Those guys are getting clever.
- ladysherwood, on 06/25/2009, -0/+27a fool and his (her) money are soon parted.
this woman was very stupid for wiring money to someone she didn't know, and then continuing to do so 2 or 3 more times without a red flag going up. - tglas, on 06/25/2009, -0/+23Not all Nigerian emails are scams. I, for one, should be receiving my 2.5 million USD from a Nigerian businessman who wanted to avoid any taxes on his earnings in the next couple of weeks. I only had to wire him $1500 to confirm the transfer. He told me not to tell anyone about it, but I don't think he's a Digger, so I should be okay.
- asgardshill, on 06/25/2009, -0/+21Good rule of thumb:
DON'T SEND ANY MONEY TO NIGERIA UNLESS YOU WANT TO PUT IT IN A FRAUDSTER'S POCKET. - okgaz, on 06/25/2009, -0/+20She thought he would post the puppies from Nigeria?
??? - alcapwn9, on 06/25/2009, -0/+18...Some people just don't get it, do they? At least her losses were under a grand.
- SolidBones, on 06/25/2009, -2/+19This is why I'm not a part of the imaginary friend club.
- buckeyeb, on 06/25/2009, -4/+20Retardation due to Christianity excuse? Really?
- paOol, on 06/25/2009, -0/+15It was God's will for her to get scammed.
- umanomano, on 06/25/2009, -0/+14Dear friend,
Good fortune has blessed you with a name that has planted you into the center of relevance in my life. I would respectfully request that you keep the content of this mail confidential because of its nature and respect the integrity of this information.
First of all I'll like to introduce myself and status, I am Thomas Johnston, Christian Missionary and staff of International Private Puppy Brokers in London. I am contacting you concerning a Yorkshire Terrier Puppy that you are to be very interested.
For a small $500,00 fee this Puppy will have the chance to live a full life with an American family and not become the main ingredient in Family Special #12 with noodles. I contact you my dear friend knowing your love of all animals and dislike of noodles.
Do not betray my confidence. Please contact me immediately so that we may ship Yorkshire Terrier Puppy to you.
I await your response.
Thomas. - mikemehak, on 06/25/2009, -0/+14thank god it wasn't kittens
- d4nie1, on 06/25/2009, -2/+15Those Nigerian scammers are fiendishly clever.
- rocknog, on 06/25/2009, -0/+13I'm still waiting for some Nigerian scammer to pose as a Nigerian scammer offering a percentage of their scam money if the victim helps him hide it.
- AmyVernon, on 06/25/2009, -0/+11NOT THE PUPPIES!
- crombat, on 06/25/2009, -0/+10That's why I always get a detailed pedigree and medical history before buying a dog.
Then I get it shipped to me from overseas. - rocknog, on 06/25/2009, -0/+10The fact that she kept sending money was my favorite part.
- BlackJackJester, on 06/25/2009, -1/+10I also hate anyone not like me. It's hard being gay Jewish and black.
- KSUdesigner, on 06/25/2009, -0/+9A coworker of mine nearly got caught up in this exact scam a couple months ago. She told me she was looking for a puppy and found a listing on the internet. She called the woman but the woman said there was no longer any available, but she knew a missionary in another country (I don't think it was Nigeria though) that had one available and would cost $500 to ship it plus $750 for the dog. I told her that sounded like a scam to me, fortunately she listened to me and decided to look elsewhere.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 06/25/2009, -1/+9Use my distant uncle, grandpa, or royalty all you want but never EVER bring puppies into this.
- EddiePotato, on 06/25/2009, -0/+8Generalizing like that is nothing but dumb.
- aznhomig, on 06/25/2009, -2/+10That was her first mistake.
- Drazzim12, on 06/26/2009, -0/+7After all, God works in mysterious ways.
- Rubicant, on 06/25/2009, -2/+9The government has its hands full siphoning off money from oil profits and aid donations.
- haikuFU, on 06/26/2009, -0/+7Dear Thomas,
Where can I order Family Special #12?
Best Regards,
Yin Chang - merreborn, on 06/25/2009, -0/+7groan.
- EddiePotato, on 06/25/2009, -1/+8Puppies. Why did it have to be puppies?
- dukksoup, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6dad always said there's no such thing as a free puppy.
- SolidBones, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5No one suspect PUPPIES!
- ruforealz, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5"I didn't think they'd use puppies."
-Famous last words - fanclerks, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5I got this type of ***** from scammers like crazy when I was looking to adopt an English Bulldog, over a year ago. It was so painfully obvious they were scams too, it was quite comical really. This just goes to show that there is naivety everywhere in the world. It is sad that these scams are still going on though.
- maxvette, on 06/26/2009, -0/+5A fool and his money will soon be parted?
- ckdiggs, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Sammy Davis Jr. didn't have a problem with it. And he only had one eye!
- Kate1240, on 06/25/2009, -1/+5Does anyone in governement do anything about these Nigerian scammers?
- link470, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4Hahaha, dugg for title and description. Haven't even read the article yet but that alone made me laugh.
- inactive, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4What is with these Nigerians and their scams? Twice through Craigslist I've contacted owners of apartments I would potentially like to rent, and they both said they were on mission work in Nigeria. Get a new country, at least... it's so obvious.
- RivenEmrys, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4I actually encountered two of these in the same day. I was checking out Oodle for pets. My family is looking for both a bulldog and a maltese. I found two for a reasonable price and contacted both of them. Later that evening both respond with almost the exact same message about how they'll be shipping the puppy from Cameroon or some place similar.
- Raptor007, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Today I've been chewing nothing but gum.
- sisco510, on 06/25/2009, -1/+5Being cheap always costs more.
- card51short, on 06/26/2009, -1/+5The government is involved in much more elaborate scams.
- Raptor007, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4I'm certain the check is not coming from the account you think it's coming from, but rather from someone's account who isn't intending to give you any money.
- iamacyborg, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4Since the seller was describing himself as a Christian missionary, Miller felt it was her duty to help him care for the puppies.
"I'm a Christian, too, so I just thought it would be helping out a fellow Christian," she said.
We don't allow no pagan puppies in this household! - orville1151, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4I do indeed read digg. You fool, now you owe me another $2000. Send immediately or no millions for you.
- deathfix, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4That's just ignorant, Schwachkopf88.
- Raptor007, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Sure, I'll go bury that.
- MisterFurious, on 06/25/2009, -3/+6They're using cute little animals now? THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL! NUKE THEM!
