- shibagarden, on 07/10/2009, -2/+29I suspect the dog. Were there any "CAT FUD → " signs found in the vicinity?
- D14852001neko, on 07/10/2009, -0/+25... I wonder how do news agencies get a hang of such things...
Anyhow, poor kitty! - OUberLord, on 07/10/2009, -0/+24You don't know how metric works, do you?
30 C = 86 F - Smokeydabear, on 07/10/2009, -0/+24That story could have turned out a whole lot worse, like what happened to a kitten I had as a kid, named Runtly. He got in the dryer and my mom turned it on because the towels in it were still damp. No one noticed he was gone and I found him when I was emptying the dryer. It was very ***** up. If you have kittens make sure they stay away from the dryer and washer and that you check them before you run loads.
- Jektal, on 07/10/2009, -1/+22Early Caturday?
- camaroz06, on 07/10/2009, -0/+20I smashed my cat repeated in the window today. I was leaving for work and was trying to close the window (blinds still shut) and the damn thing wouldn't go all they way down, I kept pushing down on it and nothing. So I lift the blinds to see whats jamming it and its the cat. Anyways the cat is ok, those things are nearly indestructible.
- AndrewDB, on 07/10/2009, -0/+19Damn it man.. you made me go find my cat and hug him.
- Joest23, on 07/10/2009, -6/+25This is why we can't have nice things!
- spiritflare1, on 07/10/2009, -0/+19very surprised it didn't drown
- chimeraM, on 07/10/2009, -1/+19Get with the Metric!
- minorthreat, on 07/10/2009, -2/+20In college, my roomate threw his shirt in the dryer before his shower. Little did he know, shady.. my other roomates black and white cat was for some damn reason in there. He gets out of the shower to find a cat bleeding out of the mouth laying on the floor in front of the dryer. He had also ended up burning all the pads off his paws. The vet had him drugged up for weeks and although I felt sorry for the cat, it was somewhat amusing to see a cat completely zoned out with all legs wrapped up in gauze. He ended up surviving and is now a fat outdoor cat.
- loudh0ward, on 07/10/2009, -3/+21I can haz anuthur ride?
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -3/+19And the English dont even use those reactionary hillbilly "Fahrenheit" degrees.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -2/+16Marvel. A clean pussy may never be found again.
- decromin, on 07/10/2009, -1/+15I suppose this is a real sea kitten then ....
- apzdsx, on 07/10/2009, -0/+13OH REALLY?
- Otto, on 07/10/2009, -0/+12Normal cat body temp is 101F, so yeah, that's pretty cold to them.
- dhVyse, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1230C (About 85F) is not cold at all.
- TurdFaceManLove, on 07/10/2009, -0/+10Unfortunately, I can relate. We had the same thing happen to my kitten, Pepper, when my mother made the same mistake. It was during winter and we were looking everywhere for him when I finally looked in the drier and there he was. He was very hot to the touch, having trouble breathing and was bleeding from the mouth. I took him outside and laid him on the cold driveway and he passed... that ***** still hurts thinking about it.
We buried him and then my mother took us to see Lionheart in the theater. Which, when you think about it, is kind of an odd way to cheer a kid up. Although, i think it helped. Van Damme therapy ftw. - ShingoEX, on 07/10/2009, -0/+10Dunno about anyone else, but I have a tendency to look in the machine before using it.
- NoDitchDigging, on 07/10/2009, -1/+11One of our cats took a tumble in the dryer when I was a kid. Luckily my mom heard the characteristic THUD...THUD...THUD inside the dryer and hit the off switch quick. The cat was pissed but thankfully not hurt.
- cerejota, on 07/10/2009, -2/+12Admit it, you are in love with Obama.
No other explanation as to why bring him up in an wholly unrelated post. - canvashinder, on 07/10/2009, -3/+13Good thing cats have 9 lives.
- krets, on 07/10/2009, -0/+9It ***** him up but her survived?
Jesus, what a horrible accident. - OUberLord, on 07/10/2009, -0/+986 F (30 C, per the article) might still be a lower temp than the cats core body temperature. It's just like how a human can go hypothermic if you are in 70 F water for too long (not sure what the C is, too lazy to check, but you get the point).
- CoreyTamas, on 07/10/2009, -0/+9I just did the same thing.
(Only with my cat, not your cat.) - picosan, on 07/10/2009, -2/+10Should have used OxyClean. It still looks a bit dark.
- shadowspawn, on 07/10/2009, -0/+8My cat crawled into my dryer once.
Once. - inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+8I lost a cat like that. (I'm not even joking)
I was younger, and he died of course, all we knew is that he had ran away. We learned later why my mom shouted like when doing the laundry that the day he ran away.
No one talked about it in the news though. - JonTheGoose, on 07/10/2009, -2/+10"Yer name is Toby. Now, what's yer name?"
"Kunta!.......Kunta Kitteh!"
hahaha!! *ahem* ...sorry - CoreyTamas, on 07/10/2009, -0/+8Dude.
- Solkre, on 07/10/2009, -0/+8I think the cat used at least 3 in there.
- Jake10, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7I'm sorry to hear that...
You have a good day meow. - thatcat, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7Well a kitten usually has a body temp of around 101F give or take .5 degrees. So at 86F the water is a lot colder than the kitty, and if he ingested a lot at that temperature there is no doubt that he would have hypothermia setting in...
- DirtPile, on 07/10/2009, -1/+8Dugg for the Far Side.
- rodrigo74, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7Poor Land Fish.
- lostngone, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6I wonder how many G's that cat pulled in the spin cycle.
- pe5t1lence, on 07/10/2009, -1/+7Slow news day is slow
- eShinn, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6Dude, how could you not notice your girlfriend in the wash?
- terminal157, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6Dugg for... making me feel incredibly sad, apparently.
Humans are weird. - ivanmarsh, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6Could be worse... started my car one morning not knowing that the neighbors new litter of kittens had climbed up into the engine compartment... I'm not even sure how many cats there were... two survived.
- squashpup, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6Wow. April fresh kitty.
Once, I started the dryer, not realizing that my poor kitty had decided to camp out there. As soon as I started it, I heard, "ker-THUNK, ker-THUNK, ker-THUNK". I thought to myself, "I didn't put any shoes in the dryer...what is making that noise?"
Opened the door and my kitty, shaken and stirred but unharmed, ran out like her fur was on fire. She was none the worse for wear, though. Never went near the dryer again in her life, so it worked out for the best.
The whole thing could have ended very, very badly (see Smokeydabear's post above). - squashpup, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5I read that hypothermia can occur in just about any water that is below body temperature. Since a cat's temperature is higher than a humans (normal is as high as 39C or 102F) the relatively cold wash water (30C or 86F) could do it, especially if exertion is involved.
Poor kitty. - Skurt, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5because sometimes it just works...
- Jake10, on 07/10/2009, -0/+51. A comment gets posted on Digg

- strictnein, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4He also doesn't know about water pressure, either. You ever wonder why water towers don't freeze in the winter?
