- allocate, on 02/08/2009, -1/+75Nice twist at the end. It's good that they didn't have to put it down.
- theOguy, on 02/09/2009, -1/+67It was originally going to go to "Target" but then had second thoughts.
- fandyllic, on 02/08/2009, -7/+67These deer welfare cheaters have to be stopped! It ran off with out paying! They should have just given the deer a tax cut and then threw it into the parking lot.
;-) - derpaderp, on 02/08/2009, -2/+50If only Bambi thought of this
- palehorse864, on 02/09/2009, -5/+40Indeed. Dang football, soccer, and basketball hunters. Sitting up in a stand until you least expect and then BLAAAM your ball is flat and nobody is having fun anymore. I hear some of them don't even eat the ball when they're finished. I mean, I can see not eating a rubber basketball or some of the new soccer balls, but a football is often leather, or pigskin. Those are pork rinds right there, and there is somethin amiss with a man who don't enjoy a good pork rind!
- inactive, on 02/08/2009, -2/+35LMAO... WTF are you talking about?
- discko, on 02/09/2009, -2/+33I am a hunter. When i kill a deer we butcher it and give food away, we use every edible part of that deer. People who kill deer for mounts and only fur are poachers and deserve your harsh words. However if you have a problem with me killing deer and yet you go to the grocery store and buy your pretty little package of beef and cook it your a hypocrite. You rely on someone else to kill your meat for you. You have more respect for the animal when you kill and butcher it yourself.
And for those of you who say, get a stick or a rock a gun is unfair. Does anyone realize how far down humans would be on the food chain if we had to kill animals with our bare hands. Deer can kill a human straight up in a "hand to hand" battle. They are too strong. Our equalizer in nature is as bears have strength and claws and teeth and deer have a great sense of smell we as humans have a much more developed brain which allows us to make tree stands and make rifles to kill and be able to eat. - Haoie, on 02/09/2009, -2/+30Smart pet.
- BoneStamp, on 02/09/2009, -1/+23DeerSmart
- ZincSaucier, on 02/09/2009, -3/+23you can't really consider deer target practice. targets are target practice. you practice on targets so you can shoot deer.
- BigMiller, on 02/09/2009, -0/+20I think he's talking about your mother.
- tgc1, on 02/09/2009, -2/+20For sport, yes. For eating, no. Keep in mind, most hunters eat their kill. You're probably thinking about trophy hunters.
- EvilJelloMan, on 02/09/2009, -0/+16Say hello to your mother for me.
- FlaNative, on 02/09/2009, -1/+15Shape shifter?
- vrstewartw, on 02/09/2009, -2/+15"The deer remained calm while it was being treated, then got to its feet and fled"
ungrateful little bastard - EvilJelloMan, on 02/09/2009, -13/+26People who hate on folks who hunt for sport are idiots.
I personally don't hunt. I tried it and I found it boring. But to call people who do it stupid shows how ignorant you are.
Plus, without those idiots hunting for sport, those deer would be overpopulated and suffering from disease and famine. Since we killed off all the natural predators, the only thing keeping deer populations under control is those idiot sport hunters. But please, dont let rationality and reality get in the way of your knee-jerk hippie cry-fest. - amoirae, on 02/09/2009, -0/+12We're gonna get you tan and then you're blowing EVERYONE!
- gl77, on 02/09/2009, -2/+14Turkey hunting with anything but a rifle is a sport.....turkeys are ***** smart.....look into it sometime.
- bstew22, on 02/09/2009, -0/+12he just knew he was going to get screwed for not having his insurance card on him.
- kent1146, on 02/09/2009, -3/+15That's right. Shop smart. Shop Pets-Mart.
- xtroutzx, on 02/09/2009, -4/+16Wait what? this wasn't an onion article?
- charlietuna, on 02/09/2009, -1/+13I'm no hunter, but I certainly side with hunters. All this talk of big eyed Bambi misses the point that in nature animals lead harsh lives, and attempts to allow wild animals to live like pampered house-pets are way off.
- viraj86, on 02/09/2009, -2/+14I wish my Dear was so smart
- groo68, on 02/09/2009, -2/+14I think they might if it ever comes back, it ran out on its bill.
- GregFD3S, on 02/09/2009, -1/+12"Yeah, it looks like it's just a ding. Uh, you know, there's no reason get the insurance companies involved."
"Well, I should still take down your information, though."
"Really? You could probably just buff that out."
"Yeah, but I...I would really feel better if I got your insurance information." - jimhobbs, on 02/09/2009, -1/+12The poor deer was just down on her luck. Couple BUCKS short. In times of recession even these deer are short on DOE.
- ZincSaucier, on 02/09/2009, -0/+11are you talking about your wife or something?
- boerema, on 02/09/2009, -1/+12@crushfan: The only reason so many humans are alive is because it is illegal to shoot them and we allow all of them to reproduce. I say we fix one of those things.
- sickthoughts, on 02/09/2009, -0/+11I think he's talking about his mother
- sfanetti, on 02/09/2009, -1/+12What they didn't say was that the dear got the injury at a knife fight.
- RobotKeaton, on 02/09/2009, -1/+11Yes, something that's been done throughout the history of mankind is totally unnatural.
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -3/+13Because hunting is now bad?
Grow up kid, meat has to come from somewhere. - inactive, on 02/09/2009, -1/+10Are animals getting smarter?
- bpwned, on 02/09/2009, -10/+19Why is shooting an animal from hundreds of meters away through a rifle scope even considered a sport? Get a stick and a sharp stone and *then* go hunting. That's a sport...
- shulkman, on 02/09/2009, -1/+10Buried not for the sentiment of the joke, which I found to be ok, but because of the unfortunate error in spelling "veal". The whole joke fell apart when you said deer tastes like a facial covering made of cloth.
- yakudaplaya, on 02/09/2009, -0/+9RUN BAMBI! RUUUUN!
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -4/+13It won't. I hunt and a deer in that condition won't make it more than a mile or two. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. On another note, how did the deer go to PetSmart? This is strange to me.
- Spinducky08, on 02/09/2009, -1/+9What? The store doesn't have security cams? And NOBODY had a camera on their person? Hmmmm. I thought you couldn't go anywhere without seeing someone with, at least, a camera-phone around.
Sorry, pics or it didn't happen.
I expected a little more to the story. That was way too short of an article. Time to check Snopes.com. - depro9, on 02/09/2009, -1/+8This story has left a lot out im thinking.
- kakwakas, on 02/09/2009, -3/+10I take it you've never hit/been hit by a deer in your car and don't know how delicious venison is.
- DarkShroud, on 02/09/2009, -2/+8See how long it takes before people en mass start having to hunt deer to put food on the table again.
- chanop, on 02/09/2009, -2/+8Yeah, much better for animals to be caged up and then killed than for the animal to have a fighting chance. The majority of people that hunt use every part of the animal. A lot of my fellow hunters donate extra meat to food shelters.
- charlietuna, on 02/09/2009, -1/+7Hunters are certainly awful, aiming for the heart and a quick kill. Better if the deer starves or is chased down by feral dogs.
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -0/+6Was it this fight?

Only males have antlers... - bstew22, on 02/09/2009, -1/+6wonder what his copays were.
- CaptCarrot, on 02/09/2009, -0/+5I see what you did there.
- gl77, on 02/09/2009, -2/+7Dugg for Toledo Blade......small newspaper that never makes it to the front page of digg.
- mouthbreether, on 02/09/2009, -0/+5Because by opposing universal health care, conservatives also support preventative measures keeping doctors from providing care for those who can't afford it. amirite?
You should be asking why health care costs so much relative to our GDP compared to other nations such as frivolous lawsuits, pharmaceutical lobbyists, etc. Those are the real criminals.
Heart warming story about the deer nonetheless. -
