And at a National Park, wf? - Dingo1919, on 02/01/2008, -4/+474Bastards
- saltshaker2323, on 02/01/2008, -6/+352"Can man, the most lethal animal on the planet, sink any lower in depravity just to make money?"
Truer words have never been spoken. - rjhomuth, on 02/01/2008, -3/+286Ouch. Hope they found the guys who did it.
- zappo1776, on 02/01/2008, -11/+283Poachers cut off the horns to sell to China where many consider it an aphrodisiac.
- bbqsalad, on 02/01/2008, -1/+250Who the ***** buys ivory?!
- EvilDr.X, on 02/01/2008, -2/+240Everyone knows human horn is a better aphrodisiac.
Sorry, this is unspeakably cruel and inhumane. And what kind of psycho saws the horn off of a still-living rhino? - ryanonfire, on 02/01/2008, -25/+224Stop buying ivory!
- Sozzi, on 02/01/2008, -35/+228they should chop off the guy's horn and see how long he can survive at a gay bar
- cannonballtrane, on 02/01/2008, -11/+185What is it with the Chinese killing every single endangered species they can get their hands on? Tigers, Rhinos, Elephants, Sharks .. you name it - they kill it (and shove it up their penises by the sounds of it).
- pizzler, on 02/01/2008, -1/+163Here's the article ...... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7217866. ...
- flakblaster, on 02/01/2008, -3/+161I met a guy who went on a big game hunting trip to somewhere in Africa. He showed me pictures of an ELEPHANT he killed. I said, "Isn't that illegal?" He said that he would wait right across the border of the reservation and wait for them to come out and then kill them. What a bastard.
- borez, on 02/01/2008, -2/+138Who does a thing like that??
No, really...who?? - borez, on 02/01/2008, -1/+125Rhino horns are keratin, not ivory.
- jdpalite, on 02/01/2008, -24/+128This is atrocious to our (mostly) western eyes, but the poachers who did this probably provided food for their family for months.
Poachers make an incredible profit from selling animal parts which are believed to be medicinal. The number one consumer of these products is China - we can blame the poachers, but we should also blame those who provide the black market for the goods. - oodledoodle, on 02/01/2008, -1/+99some people really, really suck. poor rhino.
- iainc, on 02/01/2008, -9/+89Makes one ashamed to be Human. That someone can do this, and that someone could use the horn (Chinese medicine?) is despicable.
- QuickeningYak, on 02/01/2008, -8/+88[1] Blind the poacher who did this, and shoot him in the knees.
[2] Smear that Rhino's blood on his face and chest. Leave him well inside a male Rhino's breeding territory.
[3] Profit. - crywolf, on 02/01/2008, -3/+81***** tools that did that should die. Poor rhino ):
- DocHoliday22, on 02/01/2008, -2/+72There are only a handful of park attendants to cover such vast ground. If you've ever seen any of these National Geographic programs you'll know that it's a downhill battle because they just don't have the resources to deal with things like this.
- spudnic, on 02/01/2008, -10/+73What the ***** else am I supposed to put with my ebony?
- NoCt1, on 02/01/2008, -0/+60Thinking the rhino horn is not ivory. Couldnt find anything to verify that but every article returned on a search put it in a different category than ivory..
- inactive, on 02/01/2008, -9/+67Very sad. God damn it. :(
- solidcube, on 02/01/2008, -10/+67Only fools believe that humans are fundamentally good. This, over something so frivolous.
- dienaked, on 02/01/2008, -0/+55Why did they let it suffer for 35 hours?
- radix2, on 02/01/2008, -3/+58I agree with your first sentence. I also agree with your second.
I have no idea how this could have happened without the use of anesthesia. But if the pricks are ever caught, how about we saw off their legs with a blunt rock. With no anesthesia. - khellendros1984, on 02/01/2008, -1/+55Prepare to remove the lower horn!
- breakaway, on 02/01/2008, -14/+66It's India. The 'officials' are probably in on it.
- sponeil, on 02/01/2008, -3/+53They should find the guy who did this and saw a few things of his off (with a nice dull, rusty saw). Hopefully he'll linger for a day or more before he dies, too.
- Foosinho, on 02/01/2008, -0/+49I hope if they do catch the bastards, the poachers have their wangs sawed off.
- Tyrghast, on 02/01/2008, -9/+56It was Mike Huckabee's son.
- tgc1, on 02/01/2008, -0/+45You know they do this for money. Money corrupts absolutely. The people you should REALLY be feeding your wrath are the ***** who buy this stuff. They're the ones who enable and inflate and encourage the market for such dealings. Those people are vile, often rich, elitist pricks.
- MisterEX, on 02/01/2008, -4/+49Wow, as if any Asian country needs an aphrodisiac with their rampant over population already.
- Sozzi, on 02/01/2008, -3/+41the kind of person who should explore deep space without a space suit
- inlovingmemory, on 02/01/2008, -4/+40sick bastards, I'm not condoning poaching but if they are going to take the horn at least make sure the animal is dead, whats the point in making them suffer futher.
- chrisinsocalif, on 02/01/2008, -2/+38I hope they find who did this, shoot them twice and rip their noses off!
- inactive, on 02/01/2008, -1/+37Disgusting what people can and will do for money
Poor animal, I really hope someone ended its pain - terryzom, on 02/01/2008, -0/+35Humanity needs to re-evaluate its role as primary destroyer of life on this planet and do something positive for a damn change.
- bashar129, on 02/01/2008, -0/+35Does that mean that this rhino deserved it? maybe he was a poacher in a past life. Damn it, now I don't know how to feel about this picture.
- bosssmiley, on 02/01/2008, -3/+36Poor desperate Indians who've been offered more money than they've ever seen in their lives.
- Proctor, on 02/01/2008, -3/+36They didn't just saw the ivory off, they sawed like...into it's brain. Horrible.
- geekoid, on 02/01/2008, -3/+34Have you?
- inactive, on 02/01/2008, -3/+28In case you're wondering who would buy something like this: China.
Same people who fund the Darfur genocide. Happy olympics you hypocrits. - Nimsim, on 02/01/2008, -0/+24I was thinking, wouldn't it be a good idea to use those ...what do you call it. You know those sound sensors that notice when a gunshot is fired and you can localize it to some extent? Wouldn't be such a costly matter to put those out in the national park and then have a computer point the guards at the right direction.
I have no idea if it would work though...but seriously this is ***** - junaru, on 02/01/2008, -1/+22the 3rd step would be to tape it and put it on the web
- elbonito665, on 02/01/2008, -3/+24in their next life those poachers will be rhinos, and other poachers would also do that to them.
- monospaced, on 02/01/2008, -3/+24That doesn't even make sense.
- YKKonMyZipper, on 02/01/2008, -6/+26Please digg me down but realize Mammoths have been extinct for 5,000 years and where never poached. The Ivory I have has no blood trail its practically petrified.
I guess that's not normal knowledge, but why did down if you don't even know why you are doing it? - Recidivus, on 02/01/2008, -0/+20Even if they found the exact spot the poachers were, they are still out numbered and heavily out gunned. Animal parts sell for quite a hefty amount, and some parks just don't have enough to do their jobs/risk their lives.
