The fast majority of them have been amazingly intelligent and loving animals including some that had been trained to fight. If any breed should be eliminated my vote is for Chihuahuas...I've been bit by more of those little monsters than anything else.
If you research the breed, you'll find that pit bulls are bred to be animal, not people, aggressive. Animals are individuals, just like people, so there are always exceptions. However, pits are one of the more docile breeds.
