metacafe.com — Osteopathy is based on a system of healing by the manipulation of bones (especially the spine) and muscles. The therapy was developed in America in the late 1800's by Andrew Taylor Still MD. He developed the therapy to avoid unnecessary surgery.

Modern medicine based upon empiricism and scientific methodology was just beginning at that time. Andrew Taylor Still was basically a witch doctor as was most every other doctor at the time. Albeit, what he did was less likely to cause additional harm to the patient.

    Osteopathy maintains an odd relation with the Medical community. I would place it somewhere above Chiropractic on the ***** scale. I'd go to a real doctor, but it's your body... or your horses.
