- absolutelytrue, on 05/26/2009, -2/+24Definitely true.
- OutpostNetwork, on 01/26/2009, -1/+21The healing power of dogs is incredible. Once trained on how to behave, they do an excellent job of raising the spirits of the sick and the elderly. Our local childrens hospital has a "Doggy Brigade" and it was great to have the dogs visit our kids when they were in the hospital when they were diagnosed with Diabetes. It really cheered them up. Dogs are the best. If I'm in a bad mood or blue my dog does wonders at cheering me up.
- ScottMcIntyre, on 01/26/2009, -2/+16... and they called it puppy love!!
- Sean42, on 01/27/2009, -2/+12Not true. I liked my black lab more than any person.
dogs > people. - inactive, on 01/27/2009, -3/+9You're so ***** annoying.
- MacEnvy, on 01/26/2009, -1/+7Sure you can. They just call it an "orphanage".
- Firefoot, on 01/27/2009, -4/+10Woof Woof! I ruv you.
- JoeParanoid, on 01/27/2009, -0/+6So the next time some jerkwad friend tells you that you will never know unconditional love until you've had a child, you can laugh in his face. At least dog's don't require college tuition, don't steal cars and don't do drugs.
- cornelje, on 01/27/2009, -3/+9True article. Don't know how I'd get through some rough days without my little guy waiting for me at home.
- Haoie, on 01/26/2009, -3/+8Awww.
No picking up babies from the pound though. - sinisterD, on 01/27/2009, -2/+7yeah also another problem is when you have kids and they get to 14 and you start to wonder if there getting to old and that you might have to put them down.
- sickthoughts, on 01/27/2009, -1/+6Fleshlight? Is that what you call your sister?
- mynameisjudge, on 01/27/2009, -3/+8Nothing more to add other than that I love dogs :)
- 298th_Scat, on 01/27/2009, -1/+5Very true and I agree on the age.. That seems like a real key point when they start getting too old :-)
Then turn from cute and cuddle y to miniature young ***** copies of yourself :-) - Mokshaguy390, on 01/27/2009, -6/+10Thanks. I'm very defensive of my dog. I can't stand it when people ask me to lock him up because they're afraid of him. My dog is my child, and I'd like people to treat him as such.
- schnikies79, on 01/27/2009, -2/+6Children are overrated.
- TwwIX, on 01/27/2009, -2/+5We need scientific research to confirm this? o_O
- Guitarsenal, on 01/27/2009, -2/+5We experience that over and over. It's hard, but it's worth it.
- ryanonfire, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3My dog doesn't judge me!
- k3rfuffl3, on 01/27/2009, -0/+3Humans have owned dogs for 10's of thousand of years. We've co-evolved with them just as with cats... so I'd hardly say it's a mistake in any way.
- MelissaOfTroy, on 01/27/2009, -1/+4I agree. Dogs respond well to discipline when people approach them with a "pack animal" mentality, meaning, don't let the dog think he's the alpha and he'll be loyal forever.
However, in my relatively short life I have unfortunately encountered five or six people who have harmed or killed dogs just for fun, and made the argument that they're just animals so its ok.
Don't treat them like babies or baby dolls to be dressed up, but you gotta respect the fact that dogs give unconditional love and are better friends than most people. I love my doggie. - alukima, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3I have had my dog for seven years, all of my adult life. She is just like a child to me. I can't imagine what I am going to go through when she dies.
I know some people just don't get it, but it is very possible to get as close to a dog as a person. Animals offer unconditional and never ending love and support. - SuperJack108, on 01/27/2009, -1/+3That would be why we spend sooooo much on our pets.
- JoeParanoid, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2Yep. If lifespan were what counted, love would not mean much now, would it? And whatever happened to "better to have loved and lost..."
- mandarin, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2I knew one who flew a World War 1 plane and answers to Joe Cool....
- alexiadeath, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2Love them as dogs. Love them for what they are. Dogs. Loving reliable and yet still dogs. They have feelings wants and needs. Harming any living thing with dismissive "Its just a X" makes you "Just and overgrown monkey."
- cornelje, on 01/27/2009, -3/+5You=Emotionless prick. I chose to have a dog since it comes without the wife attached.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -4/+6I sure love the daylights out of my dog. He is always SO GLAD to see me, and hardly ever does "bad" things.
...he even cleans up after the cats sometimes when they throw up! What's not to like about that?
...except perhaps that he then wants to "kiss me" on the mouth! - Kitakaze, on 01/27/2009, -5/+6Dogs give us unconditional love. They bear no grudges and will forgive us (almost) anything in a heartbeat. They give us so much, while requiring almost nothing in return. As such, they truly deserve our love.
But, they are not children. I can think of few things that are more of surefire sign that someone is a poor pet owner, than those who refer to their dogs — and treat them — as human children. There are few dogs more likely to bite someone than the fluffy, clothed, neurotic yappers that women use to combat empty nest syndrome. It's a dog. An animal. They deserve our love. But it's not a child. - RadiatedAnt, on 01/27/2009, -2/+3dogs are so adorable and cute i love boxers they're too cute and loyal. ohh don't forget smart! they never talk back and just love you no matter what :)
- Tyrghast, on 01/27/2009, -8/+7***** the Daily Mail
- Barackalypse, on 01/27/2009, -8/+3So since your average dog lives something like 12 years most dog owners are going to experience the same sadness as losing a child?
- sickthoughts, on 01/27/2009, -11/+6dogs are overrated
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -7/+2I love the sad, sad people that pretend their dogs are kids.
- 298th_Scat, on 01/27/2009, -6/+1If there is a hell you are going there..
- holmcross, on 01/27/2009, -16/+3This article should make you feel embaressed, not empowered.
Affection for pets is a misfiring of maternial/paternial instincts. Pets are a stand-in for the real thing.
"Thanks. I'm very defensive of my fleshlight. I can't stand it when people ask me to put her up because they're disgusted by her. My fleshlight is my wife, and I'd like people to treat her as such." - inactive, on 01/27/2009, -18/+1America's infatuation with the canine needs to end now!
so ***** annoying
