- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -2/+27King Hippo killed in cocaine bust?
- lead2thehead, on 07/11/2009, -1/+25Why didn't they just punch him in the stomach where the bandage is?
- rkyle, on 07/11/2009, -1/+21"A male and a female escaped in 2006, freely roamed the wetlands near the Magdalena River and even reproduced in the wild."
Am I the only one smiling at the idea of hippos "escaping"? - cc08, on 07/11/2009, -4/+23Cocaine is one hell of a drug!
- IgorUnchained, on 07/11/2009, -1/+18Drug lord Pablo Escobar's hippo died the same way he did, coked out of his gourd and balls deep in a giraffe.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+18Not enough King Hippo jokes in this thread imo.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+16Cocaine + Hippo = not in the slightest hungry hungry hippos
- dubspyracer, on 07/11/2009, -1/+14I can always count on at least one person to have misread a headline in the same way I did
- DjOverEZ, on 07/11/2009, -1/+14Neither of you are funny.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 07/12/2009, -1/+13Little Mac remains at large. He was last seen wearing a pink sweatsuit, running in a park in New York.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+12Hey, you're so cool! You've been on digg for ages!
How do you fight off the ladies? - batmanz, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9King Hippo was a real dick in Punch Out.
- Visual77, on 07/12/2009, -0/+9I'm very sad that it took eight comments before the Punch Out comment.
- shuffler42, on 07/11/2009, -1/+8Did they find that circus midget inside?
- KittySpark1es, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7Rumor has it, they had to punch him in his stomach bandages before shooting him in the face.
- pitdog, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Poor hippo.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+6Sorry, I just came back to say that "Sniffopotamus" is awesome.
I shall be using the phrase from now on. - bornfreeid, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4"Colombia's environmental agency ordered the animals killed, saying they were carriers of disease and posed a risk to local communities."
Two points here:
1. "... carriers of disease and posed a risk to local communities" -- Couldn't the same be said of humans? Hmmm
2. I can't find any documents online that support that they are any more of a carrier of disease than a bird or other wild animal. - Kaegro, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4No, but Jim Carey was in one of the rhinos.
- christoast, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5The King killed a hippo while on cocaine?
- whatthefu, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4poor hippo :(
- URnotheonly1, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3Say hello to my little firiend!
- wonnk13, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3hippo flu? gotta nip it in the bud
- Kaegro, on 07/11/2009, -3/+6***** PEAT!
Still though, they shouldn't have killed those hippos like that. Sad,
Hip Hoes. lol. - Jade10145, on 07/12/2009, -1/+4This is so inaccurate..Hippos don't sell cocaine. They sell their horns for use as a aphrodisiac to friendly poachers. God the internet is so full of lies.
- Projektorboy, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3King Hippo won't have to worry about keeping his pants pulled up anymore in heaven. RIP Bellybutton-bandaid Man
- dstz, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3The war on drugs. Serious stuff.
- drunkirish, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3He wasn't shot. The killers punched him in the stomach until his pants fell down, and Hippo shimmied backwards and fell down dead.
- GrammerPants, on 07/11/2009, -2/+5Should have bought a house hippo, no danger there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBfi8OEz0rA - rjc5056, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3Pablo Escobar's Animal Trainers?
- SuprSonik, on 07/11/2009, -2/+4Yes, because the authorities have been so successful in the past...
- Sveglio, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Of course, it's just inexcusable. I hate how easy animals are killed and no one is accountable for that. Or they offer ridiculous explanations.
- midbc, on 07/12/2009, -1/+3i wish i could get a martini as dry as your humor is
- Balonkey, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Caught him with his pants down...
- MWeather, on 07/12/2009, -3/+5"So you're saying it doesn't create problems for larger society?
Say, for example, getting the addicted people to rob/kill others for cash to buy more?"
Not really. It's dirt cheap, so it's not like people are going to rob people over it, that is unless the price were artificially inflated.
"Or creating a massively profitable cocaine industry which then results in incredible violence?"
No violence would result from a legal trade in cocaine, anymore than a legal trade in caffeine does.
"Prostitutes in rings are often kept around by their slavers getting them addicted to a drug, which often is cocaine."
And if it was dirt cheap and sold in convenience stores you'd see about as many coke whores as you do cigarette whores.
All the problems you list are the result of prohibition of cocaine, not cocaine itself. - khfn, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2damn, someone got that out before me =(
- Philbert, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2All he wanted was some marbles. Delicious, savory, marbles...
- DerangedPenguin, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Sad
- inotocracy, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Government shouldn't really be regulating what people put in their bodies, so no. Why should someone be able to tell me what I can and cannot do with myself? Make everything legal, tax it and the drug market and related crime goes away. A druggie is going to be a druggie regardless of law.
- WhistlinTom, on 07/12/2009, -1/+2Cocaine King's Hippo is my new band name.
- Sveglio, on 07/12/2009, -0/+1Diggers seem to dislike your comment. It is too modest for them to adopt this point of view. I'm afraid most people haven't exactly realized their (in)significance rate in biosphere. We overestimate our role.
- mikemehak, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Pablo Escobar: Our business here today is cocaine, yes?
George: Si. Yes it is.
Pablo Escobar: I need to find an Americano who I can trust. One with honor, intelligence...
George: You need an Americano with balls, Senior Escobar.
Pablo Escobar: Yes, and balls, Mr. George.
this quote is gooder - HiddenCanuck, on 07/12/2009, -1/+2---King Hippo's really tough Doc!!
Join the Nintendo Fun Club today Mac !!!----- - MWeather, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1"Dirt cheap? I'm guessing you're referring to the diluted cocaine on the streets."
Nope, I'm referring to pure pharmaceutical quality cocaine, the kind sold in drug stores all over America for pennies until it was banned.
"Is the addiction coming from the prohibition?"
Nope, it's coming from the personal choices of the individual who knew it's addictiveness when they chose to partake. And they should be free to make that choice as they currently can with tobacco, alcohol, gambling, sex, and the myriad of other legal addictive substances and activities.
Besides, it's not as if legalizing it will cause use to increase. Ask anyone why they don't do cocaine, and I'm fairly sure "it's against the law" will be pretty low on their list of reasons. It's already readily available to anyone who wants it, only with all the negative repercussions of prohibition: more disease, more overdoses, more crime. Prohibition doesn't solve a damn thing. It has only made things worse for the addict, and society.
"I'm also leaving out other obvious problems, such as the high risk of overdose "
Overdose is a lot less likely with measured dosages of known purity.
"or the increased cost on taxpayers as the health system deals with those who have poorer health due to this drug."
Paying for an addict's health care is cheaper than paying for their incarceration, their dealer's incarceration, and eradicating coca fields thousands of miles away. Why should i have to pay for that? - cmost, on 07/12/2009, -2/+3How sad that these beautiful and innocent creatures are destroyed by the bloodlust of an ignorant and incompetent government trying to save face over the crimes of the owner. One day, nature will realize people are no longer part of the delicate bio web; rather a threat to it and destroy us just as callously.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1he also has two brothers, Spliffopotoamus and Hiphopopotamus
