- superkendall, on 07/15/2009, -1/+10They are actually one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Lions will generally ignore you and elephants may put on a show but generally only mock charge, if that.
But Hippos love nothing better than to take out any small boats they find in the river. If you are in a canoe you better be damn careful there are no hippos around or you are going in the water where the hippo will have its way with you.
They are also scary fast on land when they want to be (as in: you are not outrunning one), though they are mostly in the water.
