- benroy, on 05/17/2009, -0/+54Isn't it a bit cruel to put a doorknob on a dog house?
- leesw, on 05/17/2009, -0/+37What's funny is that the dogs probably don't even care.
- stevealford, on 05/17/2009, -0/+20I think he's implying that we should take in the homeless as pets.
- lambofgodgamer, on 05/17/2009, -1/+18better than my house :(
- Number22Drew, on 05/17/2009, -0/+13From the article's comments: "If these are designed for dogs, why do all of the doors open with a doorknob?? Don't you think they should at least have a doggy door?"
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+12Dogs don't really want their own houses. They are pack animals - they want to be in your house if anything.
This is pure ego tripping by the owners, nothing to do with the dogs at all. - twinklyJesus, on 05/17/2009, -1/+11
are you implying there is some obligation to provide houses for people you don't own? - ninjagoron, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9are you implying mansions for hoboes?
- zarcu, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9Those would make great, although expensive, play houses for small children.
- midbc, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9just as long as they are house broken
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9This is the dumbest ***** Ive ever seen on Digg.
- dinuguan, on 05/17/2009, -0/+8What a homeless person would do to live in one of those.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+8It's always nice to be reminded that there are dogs out there that live better than I do.
- diggmeordie, on 05/17/2009, -1/+6I think he's implying turning hobos into gourmet dog food.
- Rivetgeek, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5The brick house is obviously CGI.
- BikeRidinMan, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5Way nicer than the refrigerator box I live in!
- mnortei, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5or midgets
- celotil, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5The only problem is that a dog can live in any old box, legally, but you or I (here in AU anyway) can't voluntarily live in something like a play house.
Even if the structure is sound, there's still regulations relating to minimum room sizes, minimum ceiling heights, et-cetera. It's a big load of ***** too because you can buy a crappy prefab tin shed to put your car in, OR you can build something yourself from RHS and sheet metal, but the minimum strength requirements are MORE for the home built shed.
There's less strenuous regulations for commercial builders to follow than there are for owner-builders wanting to improve their own homes. - grantmoore3d, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4If you're going to do a stupid meme, as least get it right.
- viper001, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4so you could fail while you fail?
- PianoPianoPiano, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4Now wait one minute....if you took the time to start a ponzi scheme, this could all be yours.
- pdxtian, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3Would be funnier if someone photoshoped foreclosure signs into these pictures.
- bdfariello, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3I know, not even ONE had flames painted on the sides!
- nosliwm, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3Title made me think these dog houses would be more extreme.
- Dingadang, on 05/17/2009, -2/+5Glad we solved world hunger so we can spend 30,000 dollars on a ***** DOG HOUSE!
- JonTheGoose, on 05/17/2009, -5/+7while people sleep on the street, others build mansions for dogs....
- lisaawesome, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2My younger sister had a friend who had a sweet kid's playhouse a lot like these doghouses. Even when I was 15 I thought it was cool and was bummed I was too big to fit in it.
- Rantipole, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Dog owners are crazy!
- thebeginning, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Them dogs are dang spoiled.
I'd pay to rent one of those. - benroy, on 05/17/2009, -1/+3Are you implying that it may be Fake and or Gay?
- TBBucs, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Conspicuous consumption?
- KarenRice, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2These were interesting. I wouldn't spend more than a couple hundred dollars on a dog house, but hey. To each his own.
- kanojo1969, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Dogs prefer a home with a good solid dose of their own stench. Those places look like they'd be owned by OCD clean freaks, so honestly I don't think the dogs would like it at all.
They are also social animals so unless the owners are chilling in the dog's crib, it's a place they almost certainly want to escape from more often than not.
but that's beside the point, I doubt if any of the nutjobs that own those places are doing it for the animal's benefit. - ManUnitdFan, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2These piss me off almost as much as the old ladies that die and leave all their wealth to their pets. "***** you, poor people, I'm gonna build a several thousand dollar mansion for a dog that doesn't know the difference!"
- Fhwqhgads, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Some animals live better than humans do.
- celotil, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Not necessarily expensive.
Just to use the Mexican Hacienda Dog House for example,
Thin, low cost marine ply coated with thin stucco for the walls, PVC pipe cut carefully for the terracotta roof (and less prone to breakage in a hail storm), the old lamps could be found cheap in an antique shop's junk section ...
It's more a case of perspective than reality. Is it expensive, or merely look that way? With a little practice with the tools, I doubt there's anyone here that couldn't make a decent attempt at making some of these - they're all just on the ground anyway, not up in a tree or anything precarious like that. - linagee, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Are you implying a house can have a sexual preference?
- cowboy86, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Yo dog, i heard you like houses, so i put a house in your house so you can live in it while you live in it.
- Hellahulla, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Most of them dream of living in solid gold houses.
- Dingadang, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1I dont feel that rich folks owe me. I was simply making the point that the money could have been used for something a little more worthwhile. Money, unfortunately, is the solution to many humanitarian dilemmas. Spending 30.000 bucks on a dog house instead of feeding 20,000 people is criminal. Its clear you share this criminal since of superiority. And no, Im not a pinko commie. Im a registered Republican.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Nah, Snoopy’s doghouse is much better.... He even has a pool and a Van Gogh in there. And you can’t sleep on the roof on neither of these. Nor fly it to fight the Red Baron…
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Get plans for a shed, modify them slightly (windows, door type), add the exterior and maybe interior ammenities and you can have the same thing for a lot less than what was quoted.
- ViscidGobs, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1So you think they should have a doggie condo?
- ViscidGobs, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Why are these dog houses in Woman's Day? Either they are referring to the readers or it describes where they're husbands/boyfriends can go when they misbehave. Ya baby, I'd misbehave to just to stay at Chateau Chienne.
- ZhiZaki, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Must be a new member... Let me welcome you.
- CColtManM, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Dogs are better than cats.
- burchamdvm, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1I couldn't open the page due to pop-up ads
- wanny19, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Jealous!
- shrbr, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Yuh
- reddoggie, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1This only serves to make dog owners feel better about leaving their pets in the backyard! Dogs are pack animals and need to be near you. Not outside, alone, in some stinking doghouse no matter the size.
