- rerler, on 07/10/2009, -0/+62Agreed. I be no one supports euthanasia, but in situations like these it is better than being torn up in the ring or shot because you're not performing. Luckily, President Bush and the 110th Congress passed strong anti-dogfighting legislation last year. It is because of that legislation that federal and local authorities are putting more effort into cracking down on dogfighting rings. Although Bush made many choices I strongly disagreed with, I'm thankful he got this one right!
- shenerd, on 07/10/2009, -1/+60The saddest part is that many of these poor creatures will most likely be euthanized. It is still a far better fate than what they were facing as fighting dogs.
- THMike, on 07/10/2009, -0/+34This makes me wonder how many more dogs are bred and kept for secret dogfighting. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg.
- jerryjamesstone, on 07/10/2009, -4/+34This is really a shame...the people that did this should be euthanized.
- JacD, on 07/11/2009, -0/+21No *****? That's awesome, +1 for Bush.
- angelschambers, on 07/11/2009, -3/+22Enough with the Michael Vick analogies already. None of you are funny and you really need to find new material to work with.
- ophello, on 07/11/2009, -0/+18Bravo. These operations need to be shut the ***** down.
- WoWii, on 07/11/2009, -2/+18<insert lame morning zoo Vick joke>
- gilbert42989, on 07/10/2009, -8/+19Another article about Vick!!? I'm so sick of hearing about him
- Khast, on 07/11/2009, -1/+12Big difference between being euthanized and just falling asleep....and fighting and being ripped apart while alive.
If you had the choice, would you rather die peacefully, or a very painful death? - FrameWraith, on 07/11/2009, -4/+15Who are you to judge what life is worth regarding any species? Your line of thinking is fiercely primitive and is the very reason why so many other species are in jeopardy because of ***** sapiens. Please never procreate.
- hankthedwarf, on 07/11/2009, -4/+13You're right, a dog is worth far more. Dogs aren't nearly as twisted as humans.
- Dadfather, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9Making dogs fight each other for money is not cool.
- carb0n, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9Is it just me or did that picture of the dogs on that article look funny, espically with the brown dog's expression?
- ohplease, on 07/11/2009, -1/+10Who the hell watches dogfighting, anyways? Who the hell are these losers that perpetuate this sick activity?
- sirjimithy, on 07/11/2009, -1/+9Dog slaughter?
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -3/+11A human is worth 2.3 dogs.
Get your facts straight moron... - hankthedwarf, on 07/11/2009, -2/+10If you had to be killed, would you want it to be slow, painful and torturous...or would you rather just fall asleep? Your lack of logic is pretty funny.
- hankthedwarf, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8What kind of bread? Pumpernickel? Sourdough?
- DirtyVicar, on 07/11/2009, -2/+10A good dog is always a more honorable and worthy life form than a malicious person. Let's not go talking in absolutes.
- Tehrab, on 07/11/2009, -4/+12The problem is that dog fighting is not a legal operation condoned by the State as a measure of animal population control, which is the case for most permit-free animal hunting such as killing rabbits and coyotes. Each state differs but I am pretty sure that no state permits dog fighting as a means of curtailing the overwhelming pit bull populations.
There is also hunting that requires permits for game like deer and elk, where the State wants more control over how much of the populations are thinned as a result.
So, just because rednecks, and the upper-class for that matter, enjoy hunting animals for sport, they are clearly within their legal rights. Unlike scum such as Michael Vick. Plus, hunters love their dogs. - SScottAZ, on 07/11/2009, -2/+10I am not so sure death is a better fate than fighting. I can't say what is going on in a dog's head but I think the human equivalent, gladiators, hoped to live another day.
Perhaps you are trying to see a silver lining where none exists? - Owch, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7Dog fighting is reprehensible, but is anyone here aware of the thousands of greyhounds put down after they are finished with racing at dog tracks? This travesty should get as much attention as puppy mills or dog fighting.
- MrOmniscient, on 07/11/2009, -4/+11A human that would treat a dog this way is a ***** waste of flesh.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+8Legal or not, they still kill animals for fun. That should at least get you on a ***** 'watch list' for sociopaths.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Those sick bastards, I support putting them in a ring to fight for their own lives. Reference movie, Death Race.
- lotusmeow, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6I have many friends that work with dogs and they say any dog can be rehabilitated. Check out dog town on the national geo channel a lot of animal rights people think along the same line. The animals can be saved but the problem is it is expensive and time consuming. Not enough people, money or time so they are killed.
- fancywares319, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Gigli? cruel and unusual punishment
- lotusmeow, on 07/11/2009, -1/+7Neither I would rather have a home and a family but I get your point.
- TobiasParker, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Well, there's 1.
- richiewrt, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6I could be wrong, but I thought that a lot of the racing dogs were adopted out.
- dman24752, on 07/11/2009, -1/+7What happened to everyone's ability to write a coherent argument that doesn't involve rhetorical questions?
- Cantholditdown, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5Neutering will hopefully substantially change their personalities. I am guessing they are pretty much 100% male dogs.
- ecoscott, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5This seems like a nasty place, glad it's shut down.
- stinkybinky, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5probably the truth. don't know why you're getting dugg down. if he ends up dead, we'll know why.
- UV0001, on 07/11/2009, -1/+6You know, I agree. But that doesn't give us the right to abuse and be cruel to other animals because we're higher than they are. In fact, because we're smarter and have the intelligence and power to greatly effect our planet and those living on it, we should use it responsibly.
- singingsox, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5They're aggressive yes, but they're usually fighting because if they don't perform well, the owner will kill them and move on. If the owner doesn't, they'll get beat to the pulp by the opponent dog.
It's do or die with them.
They live their every fight to defend their right to live.
Yeah, sounds like an AWESOME LIFE.
Stop being ignorant. How would you like it if someone took you and forced you to fight? Forced you to do something you didn't want to do? And if you didn't do it, you were killed. - jerryjamesstone, on 07/10/2009, -7/+11I disagree
- ProfessorFoo, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4I would rather die than be forced to fight for the rest of my life. It's not like they have one fight and then just say "alright, nice work, now you can leave".
- mortalkombatedl, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4wow, im sick of these kind of people treating animals this way. Its complete ***** to be so cruel and im sick of it.....what made people think that they have the right to treat another creature this way....its just sad
- UV0001, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5As long as the animal is used and not wasted, I see nothing wrong with hunting. But the sad fact is, a lot of people do hunt just for the thrill of the kill. Even if the hunting is for population control, the animal should still be used for something.
- Khast, on 07/11/2009, -2/+6@ WhiteHatTrick:
Dogs trained to fight can NEVER be around children or other pets. The ways the dogs have been mistreated to make them fight the way they do, makes them far more aggressive than feral dogs.
Personally, I would rather euthanize a dog which has been subjected to training for fighting, for obvious reasons. (Have you ever seen feral cats/dogs...you know how hard it is to get them to trust humans? Well the dogs trained to fight have actual reasons to hate humans, and they probably won't understand that you are trying to help them. Oh and as for pets...what do you think they use to train the dogs for fighting...stolen pets that the criminals weaken so the pet doesn't have a chance to fight back.) - inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4Please give names.
- Tarl, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4There are ***** fights aired on television in foreign countries but no one cares about that...
- analogkid01, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3Same comment from website.
- FGDave, on 07/11/2009, -3/+6Any dog can be rehabilitated. No matter what, no exceptions. I hope they take the time to find the expertise necessary to do that.
- Phen, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3If not even humans can be rehabilitated from all traumatizing experiences, why should dogs? Source please.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+4Hahahaha you are'nt eating steak your sucking *****.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -3/+5Would you rather fight or be killed? Seriously.
- Infringed, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2@Khast
That's not necessarily true. Although I hate to bring up Vick again in this thread, the dogs that were taken from him are the only ones I could find that were national coverage material.

Those dogs seem to have come out of it with amazing spirit. -
