- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -1/+54I fail to see how any of these are bizzare.
- latexsolarbeef, on 07/06/2009, -0/+27How are these bizarre? All of these seem to be animals native to the state or region. It would be bizarre, for instance, if the state animal of Kentucky was the unicorn, or the state dinosaur of Maine the velociraptor, or the state bird of South Dakota the phoenix, etc etc
- tankenka, on 07/06/2009, -0/+13The Florida state animal is....the Florida Panther? NO ***** WAY! That's so weird!
Gotta wonder if the genius that wrote this actually looked into things like why the Blue Crab, an important part of Maryland's fisheries and a major source of income, would be honored (I guess) by the state. - gbudavid, on 07/06/2009, -0/+12No Oregon Beaver??
- eastwood24, on 07/06/2009, -0/+12Boo, my state didn't make the list...oh well horny toad, maybe next year.
- ghostlywind, on 07/06/2009, -0/+9What is bizarre about turtles, turtles are ***** awesome.
This sums up my feelings on turtles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y - smartnerd666, on 07/06/2009, -1/+9Dear Internets
The Cracked approach to articles is not popular. We do not like having one picture per page. Most of us use AdBlock, so you don't even get extra ad revenue.

digg - jaytek13, on 07/06/2009, -0/+8How is it bizarre? Don't you find it a bit bizarre that our hired legislators spend our tax dollars wasting time voting on things like "State spider" or "State crustacean"?
Bizarre indeed. - gdo01, on 07/06/2009, -0/+6These are more bizarre:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_di ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_fo ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_ta ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_da ... - kjoe51689, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Both Kansas and Missouri have turtles as a bizarre animal... What's so bizarre about a turtle???
- Grova, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa Hawaiian state fish.
- hawkspur, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5Fail article is fail. 23 pages.
And ornate box turtles are boss, I have 17 of them; better than dogs in some ways. You could say I like turtles. - Haptick, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5For Kansas it's the Tyrannosaurus Rex, which according to them only recently went extinct.
- cricket01, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Isn't a little more bizarre that California has a state animal that was systematically exterminated from the state? (Grizzly Bear)
- premiumballin, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4They took into account each type of "state animal" i.e. state bird, state reptile, state fish, etc..
And I didn't think any of the 23 selected were "bizarre" or part of the "extreme nature of regional politics", but maybe that's because I'm schooled in biology and from N. America. - banski, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5The Horseshoe crab has blue blood (and its worth thousands of dollars a quart to the pharmaceutical industry)
That is bizarre - majordannyboy, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4I agree... nothing bizarre about having the Florida Panther be Florida's State Animal or the Boston Terrier be Massachusetts' State Dog.
- elitedw, on 07/06/2009, -1/+424 clicks... (GOBs voice) aww... COME ON!
- yournightmare, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Considering the Florida panther is only found in Florida, it'd be bizarre NOT to have it as a state animal.
- woofers07, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Other than its connotation with the word 'vagina' it's really not that bizarre. Oh, and the beaver state rocks.
- teamgwho, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2That's nothing, the jersey state bird is simply known as "the bird". It's a young Italian male, has feathered hair and orange skin and can be seen nesting all around the jersey shore in summer. It's known as "the bird" because that's what it flips you if you stare at it too long.
- j0en, on 07/06/2009, -0/+223/50 They cannot be all bizarre.
- j0en, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Yeah I realized that it would be more like 23/200
- felidaeus, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Is that right?
- Luvboat, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2I'm pretty sure that title belongs to the Argentine blue-bill.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_Blue-bill - lololol1, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1How many state ___'s are there? Is there a state ungulate?
- BillDoor, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1"Bizarre"? Now this is "Bizarre". The state bird of Utah, a land locked state a 1000 miles from the coast, is a Sea Gull? WTF?
- crazzy88ss, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1I wasn't aware there were State Fishes...
- NuclearBunny, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Yeah., that's why Utah's State Bird is the California Gull
- 1x253, on 07/06/2009, -1/+2I find it odd that there is no mention of the District of Columbia's "Lying Sack of *****", found elsewhere also, but in much greater abundance inside the beltway.
- anotheryounglad, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Way more bizarre, nice work.
i didn't know that multiple states could have the same state thing, but pretty much every state dance was the square dance. - felidaeus, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Because a killer whale is a bizarre and in no way totally cool state animal.
What about a national bird named after a disability caused by aging? (bald eagle) - Jonesyxxiv, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1You should get the autopager add-on, it turns 24 pages into 1.
- SixOrSoPapers, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Bizarre.
- Cowzeetgrass, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1I like turtles
- skipvt, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Buried, didn't find anything "Bizarre" in any of them.
- FlashBazbo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Y'all misspelled crawdad.
- nesstheking1, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Michigan has a few...
State Animal: White-tailed Deer
State Reptile: Painted Turtle
State Bird: Robin
State Fish: Brook Trout - Luvboat, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1I was hoping that my argument would inherently imply of the Blue-bill's penis size in comparison to its body. As you know, it is a duck, not exactly the largest of all land or sea animals.
- yacks, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1new mexico's state insect looks bad-ass
- yacks, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Massachussets does have a lot of big dicks there.
- Luvboat, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1Because you obviously have evidence to the contrary, LegomanArt?
- LadyZoots, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1Buried for not having the Rhode Island Red
- LegomanArt, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1All your article states is that the Argentine Blue-Bill has the largest penis in proportion to its body, but its body is still particularly tiny especially when compared to other mammals. The Blue Whale is the largest mammal and similarly has the largest penis. Killer Whales even frequently measures in at 8 feet in length. That's six times larger than your duck.
http://news.softpedia.com/news/The-Largest-Penis-i ...
That article mentions your duck but again your argument wasn't defending the relative length to its body.
Or!
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=animal+with+largest+penis - yournightmare, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1I don't know about Oregon, but Winona's got a big brown beaver and she strokes him all the time.
- andrewa, on 07/06/2009, -0/+0Right, but I suppose how is a beaver less bizarre than a ladybug, a great dane, or a boston terrier.....
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+0West Virginia's state sport is cockfighting.
- angrytortilla, on 07/07/2009, -2/+1It's not an article, it's a photo gallery.
Fail digger is brainslow. - elblinguino, on 07/06/2009, -1/+0I like turtles
- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -1/+0Did you know the Right Whale has the biggest penis of any living animal!
