Wow a video of wolves running, some words, still frame to red, and playing helicopter audio...I don't know how I can go on. - WordsnCollision, on 10/10/2008, -6/+56Now she dreams of repeating it from the window of Marine One.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -5/+46here is a picture of a wolf cub.
look at it.

LOOK. - mrfuzz, on 10/11/2008, -11/+52It's the humane thing to do -- after you've already shot their parents.
- cheezintern, on 10/11/2008, -6/+45The article failed to mention those wolf cubs were sent by Putin's evil head. Palin probably saved America.
- celebfan0712, on 10/10/2008, -12/+46I can see Russia from my house!
- Goodanswer, on 10/11/2008, -4/+36I fail to realize how instilling a policy of culling an out of control wolf population makes her in charge of the Hunters behavior.
- vsaint, on 10/11/2008, -6/+34BOOM HEADSHO....
wow....i just caught myself before writing that incredibly insensitive comment. Remember, it takes just a few moments to click that submit button but an insensitive comment can offend a lot of animMMMOONNNNSTTERRRRR KILLLLLLLL - Fizban140, on 10/12/2008, -6/+33I heard Sarah Palin did it herself, after raping and impregnating four underage girls and then forcing them to give birth.
- Surferess, on 10/11/2008, -3/+27I love wolves.
- ePlurbisPablum, on 10/12/2008, -8/+32I can see the end of Palin's political career from my house!
- DrOnion, on 10/12/2008, -2/+23From a completely emotionally detached standpoint predator control makes sense since it prevents the cycle of natural selection from being so extreme. There are only so many old and sick caribou to go around and a wolf pack can easily decimate a herd of caribou over time (pregnant cows and calves can't out run a grown wolf). Eventually the food supply is wiped out and the wolves begin to die out from starvation, usually during the winter (cold and and alone). Eventually the survivors reproduce and the cycle continues as it should. There's really no reason to worry about either species going extinct since there are relatively large populations of each.
Predator control keeps the natural selection cycle at somewhat of an equilibrium. It would be difficult to get to the point where there is an overpopulation of caribou since they're migratory and have vasts swathes of land set aside by the government for them to roam freely on. Old and sick caribou (which are the only ones wolves even consider eating /sarcasm) don't harm the herd (its not like they all wait for the old and sick ones). As for the wolves, the goal of predator control is to keep the population in check, not wipe it out.
Personally, I don't even know why we bother wasting tax payer money on this, but that's just me.
Anyways, as for this particular story, the parents are dead so the cubs are just going to die a rather painful death of starvation if they're not euthanized (brutally shot in the head repeatedly).
Disclaimer: I am in no way, shape, or form a Palin supporter (I've opposed her vehemently since she's been the governor). I also don't seriously expect this comment to change any body's opinion since we are dealing with a rather emotionally charged subject which most people refuse to look at from a purely objective point of view (for some reason people like to side with blood thirsty predators over lichen munching Caribou). That and Palin's name is attached to it (even though it has been going on long before her time). I suppose its also a fairly long explanation as well. - RyomaNagare, on 10/12/2008, -2/+21They Had to shoot all of them, If only one survived,, it would have lived to fight the evildoers, I can almost see it 19 Wolf years later, A single dark creature known as the Bat-Wolf would fight Republicans, becoming what they fear most. a "dark" creature.
- JoeB4ever, on 10/11/2008, -4/+23I love my *****, so I dugg you down
- Nordjak, on 10/12/2008, -3/+20"Sarah Palin's predator control program" That's rich. It's the Alaska Fish and Game (scientists) predator control program and its been around since the 70s.
- Soave, on 10/12/2008, -1/+16Oh, well you forgot that you are on Digg.com.
- Gonasadude, on 10/12/2008, -4/+18***** all of the political articles on digg.
- subtle, on 10/12/2008, -3/+17Yes, that was an incredibly lame piece of propaganda.
- richlw, on 10/12/2008, -1/+12damn nature, you cute! hehe
- Copsh, on 10/12/2008, -2/+13yeah what the ***** is this *****
- Syntaxis, on 10/12/2008, -1/+11I was expecting gore and guts. Little did I know I got to see bad editing.
How will I sleep at night. - DrOnion, on 10/12/2008, -2/+12He's right, technically its wolf "pups".
- JustinHopewell, on 10/12/2008, -3/+13...and for turning in the 14 wolf cubs, she received 1024 XP and some purple tier gauntlets.
- Hollow5, on 10/12/2008, -3/+10how is this differ from killing chickens and pigs etc?
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -2/+9I don't think everyone is getting this; if left on their own wolves will overpopulate and crash.
By thinning them out you are not only making sure they survive but also making sure that their part of the habitat isn't out of balance.
...Or would you rather we capture them and spay and neuter? - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+8keep politics in the political section please. this is category is pets and animals not politics and animals
- NuclearDruid, on 10/12/2008, -3/+10You guys are so ***** predictable. While I am totally against shooting wolves and their Pups (not cubs) you immediately assumed this was something because she had some evil agenda rather than population control. Not to mention a lot of digg stories come from totally left-wing biased media sources. So what the ***** do you expect to read? Exactly what you want, because that's what the media wants. You predictable *****.
- kr3mliyn, on 10/12/2008, -5/+12Okay, I REALLY get it (no seriously!)... Palin sucks. Real bad... but... come on.
Less propaganda; please?
Obligatory Obama/Biden '08 (just so's ya know I'm no McPOW/Falin apologiser) - alpharaptor, on 10/12/2008, -2/+8i'm sorry, as bad as it s to just fly around shooting wolves, it would be even worse to leave the cubs to die a slow death.
- seltaeb4, on 10/12/2008, -3/+9Wolves are pretty cool. I was raised by a pack of them.
- sirjoebob, on 10/12/2008, -1/+7the difference is that they did not kill them for purpose such as food. thats the big issue.
- IUCGC, on 10/11/2008, -3/+9why is this getting dugg? it's an unrelated, humorless comment.
[SARAH PALIN REFERENCE HERE DIGG PLZ] - Gonasadude, on 10/12/2008, -6/+12I'd kill the ***** out of that.
- palewook, on 10/12/2008, -2/+8Give Gov Palin a break, everyone knows Wolf Pups make great slippers..
/sarcasm off - Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2008, -4/+9You lose no chance to talk ***** about the politician that others chose for you to disfavor. It's easy to find demerits to humans and even easier to politicians, but I'm completely disgusted at how you -the supposedly enlightened- love to get dirty with this *****.
Finding only disadvantages to the people we dislike and only advantages to people we like is of the sickest and most evil features that humans have. That's EXACTLY why voting does not work, we have tribal instincts and we vote through them. I'm sure that ms Palin is devil's underling but I'm also sure that the politician of your choice does not lag far behind, because the features that makes one sadistic and thirsty for power are exactly the ones that deems a person successful in politics.
How can you call yourselves intelligently-minded when you are so frivolous and really at the mercy of your most basic instincts? - rockon4life45, on 10/12/2008, -11/+15buried for wolf "cubs"
- Mujokan, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6That's why the Left hates Palin but loves Cheney.
There are already plenty of articles along the lines of "Obama's daughters smoke crack" on World Net Daily etc. Someone on another thread is insisting Bill Ayers wrote Obama's memoirs. It happens on both sides already. If you don't like it, condemn both sides equally. - DeathJux, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6They're not scared of humans because they're ***** wolves, bears, and goddamned mountain lions. They're not scared because they don't give a *****.
Good luck "growing a pair" and unleashing super-human lightning powers if you ever come across a wild bear. - inactive, on 10/11/2008, -5/+9Might as well put them out of their misery, no?
- kelmaster1, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6Ya, it's digg. They've been doing this for years in Montana-Wyoming-Idaho where the wolf population is substantially less. This is a stupid ad and really makes people who oppose Palin look like hippy liberal douchebags. As much as I hate Palin, she probably had no direct involvement (for once).
- migshark, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6Dugg, but the real humane thing to do would be to let them all live... Well it depends how you define 'humanity'. Personally I think we all suck.
- weeFred, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6So what you're basically saying is that we should ignore Palin's policites, character and intelligence because she is a woman? Then you go on to list some ***** you made up to see if we get angry. Why would we get angry at stuff you've clearly pulled out of your ass, shouldn't you be getting angry about facts? Most of the critisism I've seen of Palin is based on facts, something that Palin supporters never seem to like talking about.
- Zarchon, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5My point exactly. Who lnows, next thing you might hear she will be in favor of putting babies who survive abortion in a closet to die. My god, think of the children.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4I'm sure they would LOVE you too. *OM NOM NOM*
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3amen
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4dugg for not being your typical mouth breathing sheeple digger
- DeathJux, on 10/12/2008, -3/+6Well, it's also the point of wolf population control.
It's sad, but apparently necessary. - cargo, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3Kill them before they kill the baby caribou.
http://www.spike.com/video/planet-earth-wolf-vs/28 ... - Differcult, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3God, all of you people are stupid. This happened before her and will happen after her...just how things are done up there...
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -2/+5Regular means of hunting. The problem with aerial hunting is that they tend to just injure the animals which end up dying of a very slow and painful death.
Also, there are means of conservation other than killing predators. In Quebec, we simply feed the animals. The wolves can also be caught and placed elsewhere where populations are very low.
Furthermore, she didn't even have the authority to give a bounty for wolves or to even allow aerial hunting. http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/wildlife/wolves/sto ... -
