- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+156I just can't believe how quickly the headbutting video got posted to youtube and then dugg! Too bad though, I guess he just lost it for a second.. reminds me of the Cantona kick.. except Zidane's retiring, sad way to end an amazing career.

If you want to watch it over and over and over...
Makes for a good avatar...? - matija, on 10/12/2007, -18/+99new martial art: zidane-fu
- jdugan83, on 10/12/2007, -10/+90I think this is what was said on the field........
Materazzi : " Your country never wins fights"
Zidane : " Le Torpedo!!!!!!!! UGH!"
Game over........ - imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+54What on Earth did the guy from italy say to him??
obviously it mad him pretty mad - darthsuo, on 10/12/2007, -26/+77He wasn't a bastard; the Italians were fouling him the entire game. He just got really frustrated.
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -17/+67Simply unbelievable
i bet he feels like such an idiot right now
what a way to end an awesome career - Philodox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+55Terrible moment for Zizou and the game. Although if I was going to get ejected for headbutting somebody I'd want it to be as solid as that one.
- tommythetomcat, on 10/12/2007, -11/+59I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with fugazi here... lets not forget the elbow to the face of McBride which was obviously intentional and drew blood...
- Razerious, on 10/12/2007, -8/+56What you don't see in that video is the other guy pinching Zidane's nipple, and he's probably saying something really provoking as well. The Italian player he headbutted is known for being an *****. Definitely not the best move by Zidane though.
- psiit, on 10/12/2007, -8/+55he probably did, but if you watch the video, it all happens really fast.
don't forget this though:
http://usa.worldcupblog.org/group-e/secret-italian-training-video.html - markbaltes, on 10/12/2007, -19/+62It's sad to see the better team lose over penalties. It's happened before, and unless FIFA fixes things it will happen again. France goes down to 10 men, and still outplays Italy till the end.
Zidane lost his cool yes, and deserved the red card, but the officials had their mind changed by the replay on the screen, and that is against the rules. If you think that this will somehow lessen the legacy of Zidane, you are mistaken. He will still go down in history as one of the greatest players to ever step on the pitch. - fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -34/+77The scummiest thing? You obviously havent seen the Italians play.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44The TV reporters said Zidane had his nipple pinched and was provoked and fouled during the whole game. He got pissed.
Look at the nipple twist video, you can see it better on this angle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C58zxHgo8Y&feature=Recent&page=9&t=t&f=b - zewise1, on 10/12/2007, -11/+50I'm french, we just learned on tv that the italian player insulted his mother. It might be dum as a reaction but if you insult Zizou's mom, you should fell lucky to ONLY get a headbut.
We lost but it was still a great worldcup. - dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+49I've never felt any animosity towards the Italian team before... until today. Italy isn't a stranger to degrading acts: Spitting and elbowing people in faces. From what I know and see from Italy, I can conclude that they try to intimidate teams under the referee's nose. Spitting, elbowing, and grabbing are degrading acts, but they take a split-second to do it, and the refs won't see it. So why not do it? Right? Once someone from the opposing team finally gets over the tipping point, vengeance won't be in a subtle way, but rather in a physical burst of anger that results in penalties. For the good of the team, right?
After watching this clip, it's obvious that the Italian player pinches Zidane's nipple and says something to provoke Zidane... that's disrespect. Did you see the France-Brazil game? The Brazilians gave space to Zidane as a sign of respect, which is obviously negative for Brazil's game plan. But they still did it. The world's soccer powerhouse risked and lost national glory in order to respect a single player. It's like what the Nike commercial says, Joga Bonito. Play beautiful. But from that clip, I didn't see much of it. - Reweave, on 10/12/2007, -5/+42Well, to be honest, this headbutt isn't so great. What's with the italian falling in agony so easily?
Heabutt to the heart, CRITICAL HIT.
Zidane is the Juggernaut, bitch. - fmerchant, on 10/12/2007, -13/+49Happy Retirement!!!!!!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+47You're kiddin' right!?...Scummiest thing was when Totti spat Christian Paulsen in the face...not once, but THREE times during the last World Cup (http://acmilanvn.com/anh/totti_spit3.jpg) in the match against Denmark.
Beside...That Italien bastard clearly must have said something extremely offensive to Zidane...Sure he shouldn't have head-butted him, but one can only take so much... - arsenal72, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37You should see some clips from the guy Zidane hit...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpG4AHlZrL4 - ogeetheogre, on 10/12/2007, -15/+44this was priceless.
truly priceless. - fani, on 10/12/2007, -8/+31That sucks. I really liked Zidane and was rooting for him. Still in shock
- DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22http://i6.tinypic.com/1zfnf36.jpg
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21My main concern is how many news articles there will be the day after Christmas about kids ramming their heads through TV sets playing with the new Wii Fifa game and imitating Zidane.
Won't someone think of the children? - imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -13/+32gwjc the video was on youtube before the game was over
- rudashell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25"Makes for a good avatar...?"
Not at 1685.73 KB it doesnt! - anamanaman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+28Too funny. That guy had it coming. He gave Zidane a titty twister like 30 seconds before. A headbutt is the only appropriate response that I coulda thunk of.
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -7/+26Italian chicks better be flashing tities tonight
- vishusdelishus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Whether he exaggerated or not...a headbutt in the sternum would hurt like hell.
- Etheo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21This isn't nearly as funny as this
http://imagekafe.com/files/f8c3e.gif - IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -9/+26Who cares what he said. If you can't contain your acts, that's what happens. A camera can't catch what you say, but they catch what you do, too bad Zidane forgot that. Goodbye! o/
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17"he was blatantly provoked through a racial slur."
How do you know that for sure? - Crimsoneer, on 10/12/2007, -15/+31You know the the Ity bastard must have said something really really scummy...it takes a lot to make zidane go crazy like that. The guy is a compete tosspot.
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21"I HATE the way Italy plays football"
Come on, that's the way most countries would've played it. Soccer 101: Lie down and check if the ref will card the guy. If not -- get up. If you also want to rest and get extra water, lie down until you get carried of the field and then get in immediately as the match starts again. Happens extra often in second half.
If you hate these things, you must hate large parts of soccer, not Italy. - npiv, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24who cares about stats going into the match ?
did you watch the game ? france pawned in posession, general control of the ball and close goals. - Crimsoneer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Translation:
The guy catches zidane, zidane makes him notice, and then suddenly...But why? WHY?! - kampfy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23Materazzi looked like he was in so much pain, right up until the ref gave Zidane the red card...then he was right as rain, completely fine.
I HATE the way Italy plays football. Every single time a defender gets anywhere near them they hit the pitch and scream bloody murder until they either get the refs to throw a yellow card, or realize that there's no chance in hell the ref is going to be dumb enough to give them one. Such ***** pussies. - LBJ_Hitman, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26The only way that could have been better is if he headbutted the ref for getting carded.
- sencha5, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19HA! Apparently according to French TV, Marco Materazzi gave him a nipple twist and yelled 'puta madre!' beforehand.
- Vulpes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Uh probably amount of plastic pads on every part of their bodies? All soccer guys have are shinguards.
- MrSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Seumas:
> Hah. If an American football player did this to a soccer player, the soccer player would be dead.
Of course, with all the protection those sissy americans need no football player would like to get headbutted. - jolivierld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14It's his choice. Soccer or not, world cup or not, sometimes you can't let yourself be NIPPLE TWISTED and insulted at the same time by an Italian player. He *chose* to own the idiot, that's his choice and he will PAY for it. But at least, he defended himself.
- Vanden, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19That was just a disgraceful way to retire.
- andrethegiant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17mais pourquoi mais pourquoi!?!?
- milo77, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17After pinching Zidane's nipples, Zidane said "please stop, I don't like it when you do that", and the Italian said, "your mom likes it". ...
Or at least I bet it was something like that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I predict that tomorrow, the Sun will rise in the East!
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -31/+43it was disgusting
- jakatak, on 10/12/2007, -20/+32it was disgustingly PRICELESS.
- wetworx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17Winners rarely get beaten by the fans.
- sshanafe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"If you don't agree, you have an agenda and your opinion is not valid."
Wow. Bush should use that one... -
