- KungFooJesus, on 05/02/2009, -1/+80Title should have read, "World's Tallest man Looks Down on Guiness Book of Records."
- RunDiggMC, on 05/01/2009, -1/+55I'm a little over 6'5", and I often gripe that most things in the world weren't built for me. I need to stop whining, because I can only imagine the hell this guy goes through.
- chinaman1212, on 05/01/2009, -0/+35a crowded elevator smells different to you.
- daimposter, on 05/01/2009, -2/+30with 1.3 BILLION people, they are bound to have some genetic freaks
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -0/+27I'm a little over 3.5", and I often gripe that most girls in the world weren't built for me.
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -1/+21Apparently "shuns" means "hasn't decided whether or not to contact".
We have always been at war with overly tall Eastasians. - darkslide29, on 05/02/2009, -0/+20not weird. just homosexual.
- daimposter, on 05/01/2009, -2/+22@plimpton: 3.5 inches? i think this record is for height not penis size.
p.s. i feel sorry for you. - trer, on 05/02/2009, -0/+20Bigger than yours.
Next time, don't set yourself up like that. - TechEvil, on 05/01/2009, -2/+16"and unravels a pair of his trousers - they reach up to her face when she stands up. "
Well, at least he won't have to worry about women getting sore knees. - c0mputar, on 05/02/2009, -0/+12What's even crazier is that Robert Wadlow showed no signs of slowing. He was consistently growing 1-3 inches per year for 18 years before his death at 22 due to an infection which resulted from a blister. Another year and he would've been over 9 feet tall.
- HeDiggMe, on 05/01/2009, -4/+15If I were born with this curse, I would take the record just to get some free Guinness out of it.
- Daxx22, on 05/01/2009, -4/+13So much for the Chinese stereotype...
- d3m0n1z3d, on 05/02/2009, -1/+10just stfu because you don't have a clue what you're saying.
- RobotKeaton, on 05/02/2009, -0/+8Oh yeah. That's the word I was looking for.
- Endrian, on 05/02/2009, -1/+8Shouldn't that be "tallest LIVING man"? Wasn't Robert Wadlow 8'11"?
- TechEvil, on 05/02/2009, -3/+10Yes, every tall person ever plays basketball. Just to clear that up for everyone.
- borninda818, on 05/02/2009, -1/+7statistically, the odds of the world's tallest man being in China are a good deal higher than anywhere else in the world.
- Monotonousblob, on 05/02/2009, -2/+7Leonid Stadnyk is 8' 6", taller than both, but also refused to be measured by the Guiness Book of World Records:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonid_Stadnyk - lastmaster, on 05/02/2009, -0/+5As for other assumptions that have no relevance - I bet he is awesome at playing nintendo.
- trer, on 05/02/2009, -2/+6Some people just can't let go...they need to have something to make fun of to make up for their own insecurities.
- blackinthmiddle, on 05/02/2009, -1/+5Forgot your meds today?
- RobotKeaton, on 05/02/2009, -2/+6It's kinda weird that that was the first question I thought of.
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -5/+86' 5"... I am 6' and that makes you a freak of nature lol. Run DMC... Awesome......
- ViscidGobs, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3Wow you really know your freaks.
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -4/+7How big is his penis?
- blackinthmiddle, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3It makes more sense to look at the height of an average Chinese person compared to other nations. Usually when you're this tall it's because mechanisms in your body to keep your height in check got screwed up. There's the rare exception. For Yao Ming, his dad is 6'7" and his mom is 6'4", so that rare combination produced him. Generally, at this height, the pituitary goes bonkers. Although this guy looks quite normal and doesn't have the huge nose and lips, which is common with people who have gigantism.
- blackinthmiddle, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3Exactly. He might find a way to parlay this into some money. Might as well make the best of the lot you've been given in life.
The good thing is that he's 27 and the paper didn't report any major medical issues other than his foot surgery. I believe (counting this guy as well) there are 13 people who are/were medically verified at 8ft or more. In every case, their bodies were basically ticking time bombs. Robert Wadlow, who was 8'11.1 died at a tender 22 years. The Chinese female who made it to 8'1" (I believe the only female to make it to 8'+) died at a sad 18. - milarepa, on 05/02/2009, -1/+4And he lives in china!
- Atario, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3Don't feel *too* sorry for him. From TFA: "The current holder of the title - 2.36-metre herdsman Bao Xishun from the steppes of Inner Mongolia, launched a highly public search for a bride three years ago. After a lifetime as a bachelor, Bao, aged in his 50s, heard back from more than 20 interested women and married one of them, who was half his height, after a courtship of just one month in 2007."
Perfect height ratio, if you see what I mean. - diulei, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3If you believe this stereotype you probably have never been to a major Chinese city like Shanghai lately. Most the urban folk average the same height as the American public... kind of pissed me off since I'm short. Anyway, that seems to be the case for the city folk so it's pretty clearly a financial + nutrition issue.
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3Robert Wadlow died of blood poisoning though.
- DaFoxx, on 05/02/2009, -1/+4"And he is still single."
Welcome to a Diggers life. Enjoy your stay. - rpieszak, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3Tallest and 2nd tallest in the world are from China.
- scarwars, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3This is the tallest person who ever lived (with his dad):
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5c/Robe ...
"Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940) was a man who, to this day, is the tallest person in medical history for whom there is irrefutable evidence. He is often known as the "Alton Giant" because of his Alton, Illinois hometown.
Wadlow reached 8 feet 11.1 inches (2.72 m)[1][2] in height and weighed 490 pounds (220 kg) at his death. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood was due to hypertrophy of his pituitary gland which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death." - dsmx, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3like a midget at a urinal he's going to have to stay on his toes.
- ghebert, on 05/02/2009, -3/+5Or "World's Tallest Man has a Giant Dick".
- KritterKat, on 05/02/2009, -0/+2The article states that he is single.
- greenmartian, on 05/02/2009, -0/+2same in korea. a lot of the guys there are 6ft+
- firesights, on 05/02/2009, -0/+2Those are some big shuns.
- JonyBigHead, on 05/01/2009, -1/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWFW0B9EBx0&fea ...
- blackinthmiddle, on 05/02/2009, -1/+3That was the first thing I thought when I saw the pic. Look at the nurse. I mean, the proportions are perfect!
- jitterbits, on 05/03/2009, -0/+2I wouldn't be surprised it the increase in height were directly related to a greater availability to various nutritious foods.
We know that North Koreans are considerably shorter than South Koreans since the famines. - LeviTheSmith, on 05/02/2009, -1/+2I'm 17 years old and 6ft 3.
When I buy new clothes I have to go to the Mens 'Big Guys' section :(
Oh and I love your name - jitterbits, on 05/03/2009, -0/+1Doesn't suck for the girl either, if you get my drift.
- jitterbits, on 05/03/2009, -0/+1I'd guess it'd be proportionately large since his hands and shoulders, etc are proportionate.
It probably wouldn't be as monstrous as one might expect though. - krasht, on 05/03/2009, -0/+16'9" here. One day I'm going to shave my head and count all the scars I've gotten over the years :(
- cyrix, on 05/02/2009, -0/+16'5" FROM THE FLOOR!! Wait... that's not right...
- keysersozejr, on 05/03/2009, -0/+1Why do you use the word 'with' so damn much? And who the ***** cares what you bury? Like somehow telling people will influence others to join your cause and reinforce the fact that your opinions matter. That won't happen with your careless use of the word 'with'.
I'd tell people that I am burying your comment but no one gives a flying *****. Now go block some bits and leave the burying to the rest of us that know what we are doing, geesh.
just kidding.... - evnglion, on 05/02/2009, -0/+1really anyone who hits that 8'0 mark, and probably a lot of people in the 7-8ft range, have pituitary gland issues, and don't usually live the most healthy lives. Of course, some just live longer than others too.
