- thekak, on 06/18/2008, -9/+254This isn't an Onion story?
- hogar983, on 06/19/2008, -1/+205This story is a couple of months old, the poor woman had mental issues and was allegedly involved with religious cults (read: everyone avoided her, including her family) so the neighbours just assumed she'd gone away. They called the police on several occasions (first time in 1970.) but the police refused to enter the apartment for reasons unknown and "somebody" left a notice on the door that said forced entry is prohibited, which is kind of bizarre. The windows were all open so the smell escaped through there.
source (in Croatian): http://www.javno.com/hr/crna/clanak.php?id=148061 - inactive, on 06/19/2008, -3/+182Shame on the IRS and SSA for not monitoring Croatian people's lives!
- MacTyler, on 06/19/2008, -2/+151you guys would come looking for me right?
- brandonchicago, on 06/19/2008, -0/+131"Neighbors now argue the apartment should be divided among the remaining tenants."
I don't think I'd like to live in an apartment where a dead body decomposed for 35+ years. Maybe I'm just being oversensitive. - afidler, on 06/19/2008, -1/+130Wow, it is amazing how almost every detail of these two versions are different. 42 years vs. 35 years, 1966 vs. 1973, police break in vs. greedy bastard neighbors...
At least the frakking plot is the same... - Stupidumb, on 06/19/2008, -1/+127"Residents of her loft building in downtown Zagreb had broken into Golik's flat after deciding that the apartment should belong to them, and not to her."
HAHAHAHAHA - seanmx, on 06/19/2008, -7/+127That must have been a killer show.
- Mactrekr, on 06/18/2008, -5/+123Ah, but no, Apparently this woman owned her appartment, and had the where-with-all to pay her property taxes and homeowners dues 30yrs in advance. Also, her 320 dead cats were found in her apartment with her.
- eltrev, on 06/19/2008, -3/+112Buried for Gizmodo putting too little effort into this regurgitation.
- AudeVive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+103Does anyone else find this sad? No one missed her for over 30 years? I hope when I go at least one person notices.
- MacTyler, on 06/19/2008, -2/+98...to avenge me if i'm dead... right?

- deeboe, on 06/18/2008, -10/+79Pfft... lazy.
- pigglesnout, on 06/19/2008, -2/+70Theres major differences between the Gizmodo story and the CNN story.
One is the difference in time. CNN says 1973 and Gizmodo says 1966.
The second difference is a missing report. CNN: "Police said Friday that no one ever reported Golik missing" Gizmodo: "What's absurd is that she was in fact reported missing, but somehow no one ever checked her apartment,"
There are other differences too. Which source is correct? - rednaxela825, on 06/19/2008, -6/+71This is inaccurate. Go to CNN for the real story.
- thorseth, on 06/19/2008, -0/+63Dictatorship -> mind your own business.
Communism -> no rent
Government housing -> bad smell already?? - inactive, on 06/19/2008, -4/+66Officer: "So what killed her?" Coroner: "I Love Lucy reruns"
- Wormfather, on 06/19/2008, -3/+64I dont know whether to digg you up because it was funny or digg you down so that some nimrod doesnt actually end up thinking that someone will look for him/her.
- zspade, on 06/19/2008, -1/+62Mummification happens naturally under the right circumstances. It doesn't have to be all brains scooped out from the nose and wrapped in cloth. Don't know if that makes the CNN article more accurate, but it certainly seemed to be a lot less sensationalist.
- jordan314, on 06/19/2008, -0/+59I call the room that doesn't smell like mummies!
- Stupidumb, on 06/19/2008, -3/+62"42 years vs. 35"
and
"1966 vs. 1973"
are the same error. - jtorkbob, on 06/19/2008, -0/+59It has a TV in it.
- kateyall, on 06/19/2008, -4/+62In Croatian, eh? Well my Croatian is a little rusty, so thanks for the translation.

- Sillywombat, on 06/19/2008, -1/+52For everyone commenting about the tea thing.
YES, the tea would have evaporated, but as all the moisture left, it would leave residue. If everything was left undisturbed like they say it was, then you would still be able to see that there was an unfinished tea there 42 years ago. However freaky that may be. - RyeBrye, on 06/19/2008, -1/+46CNN vs Gizmodo is like NY Times versus National Enquirer.
- Tyorant, on 06/19/2008, -0/+40I want to drive off the Empire State Building on a Harley Davidson, doing flip after flip, whilst sending fireworks in all directions to the sky, then just before I hit the ground i'd press a handy self-destroy button on my bike.
All the while having Beethoven's 9th playing off huge speakers. - anonymousT, on 06/19/2008, -2/+41i didn't know gizmodo have these kind of articles
- AndrewDB, on 06/19/2008, -2/+41Lets see. Gizmodo vs CNN...
This is like choosing what caliber bullet to use for Russian roulette.. - po43292, on 06/19/2008, -0/+38You've put a lot of thought into this.
- FeartheKnighted, on 06/19/2008, -0/+38Who do you think? Gizmodo or CNN...
