I can also appreciate it more since I'm more or less a classic geek (8-bit computers, D&D, early "InterWeb" adopter, etc.) and met my wife at a Mensa meeting.
It was pretty much geek-love at first sight, but it became an eternal commitment (tm) when we were walking through a shopping mall on an early date and she ran into an arcade (first) and challenged me to an early "shooter" game.
