- WordsnCollision, on 11/23/2008, -0/+94Because the mail never stops. It just keeps coming and coming and coming, there's never a let-up. It's relentless. Every day it piles up more and more and more! And you gotta get it out, but the more you get it out the more it keeps coming in. And then the bar code reader breaks and it's Publisher's Clearing House day!
- ScottyAnimal, on 11/23/2008, -3/+66Isn't tampering with mail a federal offense?
- Zuggbar, on 11/23/2008, -1/+42Mail goes into three sections according to how important I think the thing looks. Now the least important stuff, I'm gonna burn that. If it's important, they'll send it again, right? The middle important stuff, I put that back in the mail addressed to me so I buy myself a few more days. Now the most important stuff, THAT GETS DELIVERED, but you know something Mac? I actually burn that too most of the time.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -2/+34I thought the reason they don't deliver the mail is because they are too busy reloading.
- akchrs, on 11/24/2008, -0/+28It said it was junk mail. Keep him there and give him a raise.
- DjArcadian, on 11/23/2008, -0/+26NEWMAN!!
*grits teeth, clenches hand* - BeShirtHappy, on 11/23/2008, -1/+24I wasn't aware of this, for the lack of a better word, phenomenon of mail hoarding. FTA: "Most memorably, last year a cross-dressing carrier in Leeds took revenge on local yobs by tossing their mail after they made fun of her newly acquired lipstick and heels." The best excuse in this story. :)
- sexybobo, on 11/24/2008, -0/+20yes that is why they had 515 arrest from people not delivering mail.
- bananzaroo, on 11/23/2008, -0/+19"A number of "dead-letter cars"—old clunkers filled up like a junk-mail piñatas—have been discovered by mechanics and used-car dealers."
Junk mail piñatas, awesome. - dreicher, on 11/24/2008, -0/+14That must be where all the mortgage payments are.
- badwithcomputer, on 11/23/2008, -0/+14just watched that episode of seinfeld...we must have similar dvr schedules.
- ScottyAnimal, on 11/23/2008, -1/+15Just remembered. I had a friends whose dad was caught doing this. He never opened the mail. Just never delivered it. Never gave a reason for it either.
- SmooveO, on 11/23/2008, -0/+13Hello Newman...
- Elliuotatar, on 11/24/2008, -1/+14A postman takes it upon himself not to deliver 27,000 pieces of JUNK mail... and this is a CRIME?
- qxrt, on 11/24/2008, -1/+13I personally wouldn't mind if the postal worker just tossed all the junk mail for me.
- rossnyc, on 11/23/2008, -0/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgQGbD47aZA
- twiztidsinz, on 11/24/2008, -0/+10DEY TOOK OUR YOBS!!!
- ReDoEr, on 11/24/2008, -1/+11not delivering junkmail is worthy of praise, not scorn. I keep a garbage can on my porch, and I'd wager that at least 70% of the mail I retrieve from my mailbox never makes it into the house. If the postman wants to save me the trouble, great!
- lewkus, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10Mailmen don't deliver the mail.
article never says why they didn't deliver. - sponeil, on 11/24/2008, -0/+9Exactly. It sounds more like a valuable public service than dereliction of duty. In fact, I would be willing to pay for that kind of service (not much, but they'd also save a little money not delivering it).
- Konrad9, on 11/24/2008, -1/+8She took their yobs?
- petebot, on 11/24/2008, -0/+7Pepe Silvia?
- themastersb, on 11/24/2008, -0/+5So it's probably a similar reason I never got my random 1 million dollar check. I should sue.
- DrLeePhD, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5living downtown our carrier had a walking route and I would get mail maybe once a week. they would never take outgoing mail either.
- diggduggjoe, on 11/24/2008, -0/+5The problem is they should have found a way to burn the mail to heat their homes. They would have gotten rid of the evidence and saved money.
- ElbertF, on 11/24/2008, -0/+5Rabbel rabbel!
- sponeil, on 11/24/2008, -0/+5It's not "this guy". TFA mentioned a number of "guys" and said it's been going on for over a century. In addition,
1) Most junk mail is not in a sealed envelope, and it's easy to tell it's junk mail on sight. It's also kind of obvious when one mailman has 10,000 copies of the same thing to deliver on the same day.
2) Companies pay for machines to robo-call and harass me, and some still use live tele-marketers. I don't consider that ethical either, but junk mail is worse because millions of trees have to be chopped down each year for it. Yes, I know it's not illegal, but it should be.
3) They didn't want to lose their job or go to PMITA federal prison. If important things started disappearing in the mail, people would report it. Then they would be investigated, fired, and sent to prison. - julianrod, on 11/24/2008, -0/+5Hey, in these interweb times Google does that for you and it doesn't get arrested!
- BrokenVisage, on 11/24/2008, -0/+5No one's ever cracked the 50% barrier!
- wannapiece, on 11/24/2008, -0/+4heroes...
If I had to stop at every house because some guy named Ed McMahon decided to send a letter to every house on my route I would burn it all too, in a heartbeat.
Thank you anonymous postman for your antiquated spam filter. - crownedgriffin, on 11/24/2008, -1/+5Interesting. I've always used USPS when I want something to show up on time, and I've never had a problem. UPS on the other hand, is worthless. They've never lost anything, but by the time they deliver it, I've almost forgot I ordered anything.
- bioflux, on 11/24/2008, -0/+4If they want to keep my junk mail, then please go ahead. They are only helping me by taking care of a problem I've been trying to solve for years.
- mrsneakypat, on 11/24/2008, -0/+4calm down man, drink some more coffee
- opticwind, on 11/24/2008, -0/+4Dude I haven't used the US postage service in years. It's always FedEx or email.
- drifter, on 11/24/2008, -1/+4Honestly, this guy should be going to prison. How does he know that he only put away junk mail, maybe he made a mistake and someone got fines for not paying a bill etc.
Not to mention the fact, that the companies paid to have their junk mail delivered. Fact of the matter is this guy was lazy and due to his heart condition couldnt do his job. He should have asked to do post office work instead.
*****, if he did this, who's to say he didn't take other *****. - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -1/+4mmwahhahahah , MAIL FRAUD!!
- Jones82, on 11/24/2008, -0/+3Wildcard, bitches!
- Technopundit, on 11/24/2008, -0/+3Meds-by-Mail didn't come in this month?
- inactive, on 11/24/2008, -1/+4It's not like they shot anybody.
- Nothlit, on 11/24/2008, -0/+3When I lived in Pittsburgh, my apartment building had the mailboxes inside the lobby, which was locked. The regular mail carrier had a key to the door (I saw him pull it out from his belt on a keychain), but the Saturday carrier apparently did not, and so we rarely got mail delivered on Saturdays. The ridiculous thing was, there was a lockbox outside the entrance that contained a building key and could be opened by any postal key (the same kind that opens the blue streetside boxes) but I guess our Saturday carrier never noticed this and just decided not to bother with our building...
- chrisduser, on 11/24/2008, -1/+4It is hard to reload and deliver mail while zombies are slowly approaching you in an apartment complex walk way.
- shujin, on 11/24/2008, -0/+3Disappointed that an article titled "Why mailmen don't deliver the mail" is not about Why but simply What.
- Jones82, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet.. It's the first one!!
- LonesomeFighter, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2um I am still waiting on mail from 2-3 months ago. So I give a *****.
- ScrewedThePooch, on 11/24/2008, -2/+4kill this stupid meme
- sticko13, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2There is no Pepe Silvia!
- inactive, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2Indeed. I'd like to find out who was responsible for that and give him a thank-you check for several hundred dollars.
- stonebear, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2Yet.
- kefkaantakrist, on 11/24/2008, -2/+4***** you, two of my friends died using a meme poorly
- inactive, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2Heh--I wish that'd happen to me. 99.9% of the mail I get is junk. I don't want it, and it just clutters up my mailbox (I've been known to go 2-3 months without checking my mail for that reason).
I just wish I could impose a whitelist on my mail, and have any mail that doesn't match the whitelist returned to the sender. -
