- Winded, on 11/25/2007, -6/+72The problem is courts will believe a police officer's word over a defendant's if there's no evidence one way or another. It really takes the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing and flips it on it's head. If it's just your word vs. a cop's, you need to be found not guilty.
- tempest993, on 11/25/2007, -2/+68Wow, the cops excuse for laying the guy out was he "had a medical condition that caused a sensation of pressure on his chest when he moved his arm a certain way" so he just THOUGHT the professor punched him.... Seriously?
- IgWannA, on 11/25/2007, -1/+55the cop has a medical condition that makes him randomly punch anti-poverty activists and beat them to the ground?
- Elliuotatar, on 11/25/2007, -9/+62I have a disability that makes me punch cops.
- Koookie, on 11/25/2007, -6/+49Did you watch the same video?
- statiktv, on 11/25/2007, -3/+35FTV: "the officer suffers a disability that causes pressure in his chest when he moves his arm a certain way leading him to believe that he had been stricken in the chest"
you've got to be kidding me. this has nothing to do with officers being "thugs"...this is because our country is policed by people whose morals are so paper thin theyll do anything to cover their own asses, including lie in a court of law under oath. honesty and cops are two words that rarely go together...funny considering we the people are who they are supposed to be protecting and serving... - compgeek, on 11/25/2007, -2/+31I watched this and have but one thing to put in if the officeer knew he suffered from that condition it stands to reason that he should have thought of that before striking I say he should be in jail for assault
- LBobRife, on 11/25/2007, -0/+28Really, that sounds like the biggest load of ***** I have ever heard come out of a defence lawyer. Did the jury really go for that?!
- Nahor, on 11/25/2007, -4/+32I think you mean 9mm
- rhinopig, on 11/25/2007, -0/+25Yeah. I mean honestly even if he does have a medical condition like that, is police officer really the right job for him?
- shirosamurai, on 11/25/2007, -18/+41Here's a better question: Why do Diggers make sweeping generalizations?
Idea: submit the name of the video as the title instead of this sensationalist crap. Might as well submit an article titled "Why do blacks steal?" - bonjourmr, on 04/25/2008, -1/+21Im just laughing at the whole knee jerk reaction excuse that got him off.
- sentime, on 11/25/2007, -0/+19lol yeah .. good excuse they came up with
I bet some cops have medical conditions that cause them to kill protestors too - rebelcommander, on 11/25/2007, -6/+23Perhaps he's referring to penis length...
- DeFex, on 11/25/2007, -3/+18because they always get away with it. sometimes even get a suspension with pay (holiday)
- Jobe479, on 11/25/2007, -3/+17Wow, you played right into the ***** that lawyer was shoveling. There was no assault whatsoever.
- empraptor, on 11/26/2007, -0/+13Both professor and police officer technically assaulted each other. Yet the police officer cannot account for his response to the professor's slight shove.
If you watch the video, he shoves the professor aside first. So really the professor was assaulted first.
And if you watch the video the ***** was facing the professor at the time so this excuse that he thought he was punched is ridiculous.
And even if he was punched in the chest, do you want a police officer to act like this in your home town? - aak4, on 11/25/2007, -0/+13If this is the kind of protection we can expect from many police officers, we need our second amendment rights protected.
Did you see what happened in Utah? - hinchb, on 11/25/2007, -2/+15Of course he touched him, AFTER the cop came up and roughed him up by pushing him around. So now the police can push you around and if you lay a finger on them they can arrest you? I know you are going to argue on strict law basis, that there is a precedent if you touch a police officer that they can arrest you, but should this really be enforced or even relevant if they attack you first? He didn't do anything wrong and then the police punched him in the face and attacked him. Learn to think and get some glasses old man.
- tacapd42, on 11/25/2007, -0/+11It was the cop that complained of the medical condition not the professor
Eyes AND Ears people - nicholai, on 11/26/2007, -0/+11The pig was the one that claimed he had some form of brain damage that caused him to attack the professor. This is why we shouldn't let retards off easy, everyone gets away with everything by claiming they have some sort of "medical condition". This pig should be fined and fired at the very least, I don't want mentally unstable cops that attack people because of imaginary attacks roaming the streets with a gun and badge.
- nicholai, on 11/26/2007, -3/+14This cop should be spending time in prison for assault and we are burying you because we don't like fascism.
- gquaglia, on 11/25/2007, -2/+12New to Digg? Things I've learned about Diggers since I been here: Police=bad Bush=bad Republicans=bad Tasers=bad Noam Chomsky=good Ron Paul=good Marijuana=good
If you keep these things in mind your Digg experience will be easier
/sarcasm - CBTF, on 11/25/2007, -0/+10"This country"
This actually happened here in Toronto, Canada... - phenolholic, on 11/26/2007, -1/+10next time an officer shoves me, i hope someone is recording it. i'm going to break hell on him. if i get my ass kicked by being ganged up by fellow officers, ***** it, but i'm going to leave some gapped-tooth smile that's for sure. by the way, the government is the biggest mafia. law enforcement are the baddest gangs. get used to it.
- Frostman3D, on 11/25/2007, -4/+13We should make our own state militia's and police the police.
- empraptor, on 11/26/2007, -0/+9ElAssoWipo. Yes, you're being dugg down and that means your comments are not popular.
But fundamentally, the comments are not popular because they make you sound like an idiot who didn't even watch the video. - capiCrimm, on 11/25/2007, -3/+12I'm waiting for someone to complain that we're spamming digg with police articles and that you can't judge police based on "one incident" in the same post.
- EmperorAwesome, on 11/25/2007, -2/+11Why is the professor an idiot for shoving the officer back? He was well within his rights to defend himself.
- OssianHanning, on 11/25/2007, -3/+12ElAssoWipo... just SHUT THE F UP
every single one of your idiotic comments has been negative. I wonder what's wrong with you, but something it must be - demonsnake69, on 11/25/2007, -0/+9LOL, so the cop feels a "sensation of being punched in the chest?" I wonder if that'll work for me if I ever get a speeding ticket, "Officer, I didn't mean to drive above the speed limit, but I felt a sensation of my foot being forced to the gas pedal." Of course I'll get tased after I say that, but it would be pretty funny.
- laeteralis462, on 11/26/2007, -1/+10Allow me to answer your question: Police are thugs because they are simple minded brutes who are closed into the profession because they had one too many red plastic cups of flat beer in college and now the neurons don't fire as fast in their brain. They helplessly crawl into the police force, and once they're there, they realize "Hey, I've got a gun and authority!". They then proceed to do inhuman things to people of different races solely based off their ignorance.
- empraptor, on 11/26/2007, -0/+8Watch the ***** video. Then you'd know that it was the officer's lawyer who made this excuse for his client. Why don't you apply your uppity question to the cop?
- hinchb, on 11/25/2007, -0/+8The fact that a jury bought this 'arm pressure chest punch' hypothesis is just saddening.
- chowderdick, on 11/25/2007, -0/+8Oh ***** me... you have GOT to be kidding...
What a steaming load of *****. - inactive, on 11/25/2007, -0/+8Hmm, the officer had a mysterious sensation in her chest????? And then thug punched a college professor because she wasn't good enough to get into college herself, so she became a cop.
- SofaKingAwesome, on 11/26/2007, -0/+8I've got a condition that makes me feel a sensation in my gut when I see cops that makes me want to punch them. Think a jury would buy that? :/
- buckrogers1965, on 11/26/2007, -0/+8So if the cop wants you to give him a blow job then you would just take it cause you just have to suck it up?
- SillyDigger, on 11/25/2007, -1/+9Always obey authority figures no matter what they do to you.
/Barfs - LostnTransition, on 11/26/2007, -0/+8Haven't you realized this is America!! We don't have rights.
- diggduggjoe, on 11/25/2007, -1/+8Yeah! I have a disability where I feel a strong emotional reaction to pricks in blue with shiny badges. I react with a quick raising of my arm and a clear display of my middle finger.
- jaymzdean, on 11/26/2007, -0/+7That cop needs to chill ***** out before he gets hurt.
- darlyn, on 11/25/2007, -0/+7A more professional cop wouldn't have reacted like that after being punched. He should have tried to subdue (read: not taze, kick, or use any other form of )excessive force) the assailant enough to cuff him.
- nicholai, on 11/26/2007, -0/+7We should be allowed to beat your ass with a nightstick until you admit that beatings are torture.
- perkoff, on 11/26/2007, -0/+7Oh he has some pussy boy disease that makes him unable to do his job, I know the perfect solution, fire his pig ass.
- VictoryCube, on 11/25/2007, -11/+18that cop sucks balls. thx for pissing me off.
- empraptor, on 11/26/2007, -4/+11Holy crap we have two idiots in this thread.
- inactive, on 11/25/2007, -4/+10Because they can afford to be.
- calbff, on 11/26/2007, -0/+6Dude, just give it up. You're just plain wrong.
- Tranced0nline, on 11/25/2007, -2/+8Man don't insult a guy over a medical condition. It's not his fault.
