They've always been in school, and they never grow up. They go through school, only to graduate high school and go into more school -- college. Once they graduate college, they go back to school, to teach school. They don't realize what life is like outside of school, and they're so used to teens, it just doesn't phase them that they're young, because they still relate to them.

I've know a couple teachers as friends after I got out of school and that is complete *****. Teachers still interact with people their own age. They have social lives just like the rest of us. Hell they even get summers off. Teachers are no more likely to do this than anyone else. The psychologist even says that student-teacher sex abuse like this is the least likely to happen and that Mother-child is a more common occurrence. 1. Not all teachers are pervs. It's a minority.
2. That said, at least three teachers, that I know of, from my HS either married students (2) or had affairs with students. They kept it legal, but it definitely hints at some kind of a common pathos (note, they were also all men).
3. It's BS to say that spending all of your day around kids doesn't mess with you. I've been dating a 4th grade teacher for the past few months, and she definitely has a tendancy to talk to people outside of work like they're kids. It's not a personality quirk either, she gets better over the course of the weekend and is almost back to normal this summer.

Many of my friends that are teachers seem to be very mature outside their profession (at least the ones that decided to become a teacher right outside of college). They want to keep their summer breaks, and being around kids all day cannot be good for your emotional development, if you're not even fully developed yourself.

Husband beating isn't taken seriously, even though it is a real occurance. A woman raping a man isn't even an offence in many places because rape is defined as 'sexual intercourse'. Woman-rape is merely sexual assualt, with a lesser penalty. Men suffer too. I'm fed up of everything being one-sided in the favour of women. If they want equality, they have to take the bad with the good.
