The legal system is built in such a way that makes it nearly impossible to defend yourself without an "expert". Regardless of what I think of many attorneys, they can come in very handy when you're in a bind.
- windyridge, on 12/26/2007, -0/+9I can't think of any reason the mother would be in jail if it wasn't to protect her child. Her big mistake was her attempted lawyering. Meanwhile no one is winning, least of all the child. This is one of many similar tragedies.
- zappo1776, on 12/26/2007, -0/+6It's always the child who pays the real price in these cases. Very sad.
- Wiini, on 12/27/2007, -0/+3I fought the law and the law won!
- Error601, on 12/27/2007, -0/+2I think someone claiming the other person is abusive is almost a requirement for any nasty domestic dispute.
- windyridge, on 12/27/2007, -0/+1ever consider that maybe she was just not very intelligent and didn't know any better?
- BobSutan, on 12/27/2007, -0/+1She got herself into this mess, she can get herself out. It seems to me the mother is more interested in her own pride than the child's welfare.
And to those claiming she was beaten, prove it. Lots of women make up stories to keep their kids to get alimony/child support. Hell, the court system is set up in a way that encourages such behavior. Until proven otherwise that's what I'm inclined to believe is happening here. - postpawl, on 12/27/2007, -2/+3Now thats an incriminating photo.
- arkansasaviator, on 12/27/2007, -0/+1If she really cared, she would have let her lawyer handle the case. But no, she had to be a smart ass.
- BassCadet, on 12/27/2007, -1/+1Very sad indeed.
Yet I am also somewhat contented by the fact that this stubborn mother was put in her place. She is not entitled to act outside the law. - inactive, on 12/27/2007, -3/+2well it serves her right, really...
