- rulesaremyenemy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+65If god created the internet, then he created Goatse. If God created Goatse, then he can tolerate just about any other sin in this world.
- MisterEd, on 10/10/2007, -6/+65I love it how she says to him that he needs to read the Bible. She should do so herself as a lot of what she proclaims goes against the very word of God she claims to support.
One of the most quoted verses in the Bible, John 3:16. ""For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
It says "For God so loved the world", not "For God so loved the world, except for homosexuals who he hates".
1 John 4:8: "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." God is love. How can they proclaim that "God hates fags" when God is love? I believe that these people do not really know what love is all about. Due to that, I believe these people do not really know God. - a3r0, on 10/10/2007, -3/+56When are people going to STOP TALKING ABOUT THEM? They only keep doing things because people keep talking about them
- mtrip, on 10/10/2007, -8/+58Kinda, yeah. It helps.
- Alright, on 10/10/2007, -11/+51are all atheists experts on the bible?
- Ninjao, on 10/10/2007, -8/+42Hipocricy. To. The. Max.
- chowderdick, on 10/10/2007, -3/+35what the hell was his "bombshell"... it was garbled and unintelligible...
- tyywebb, on 10/10/2007, -2/+33HELLO THIS IS GOD
YES IT IS TRUE. I HAVE CREATED THE INTERWEBS FOR ALL TO ENJOY. ON THE THIRD DAY I CREATED CEILING CAT SO THAT HE MAY MONITOR THE EVIL GOINGS ON OF YOU MORTALS. REPENT YOUR EVIL WAYS AND YOU WILL NOT BE CAST INTO THE PIT OF GOATSE ON THE DAY OF RECKONING. THAT IS ALL. - flamadiddle, on 10/10/2007, -3/+34Ok. This is really lame.
All I saw was a bunch of idiots yelling at each other with absolutely no coherent, intelligent points to speak of. - devjt2, on 10/10/2007, -6/+32I wouldn't say that all atheists are experts on the bible, but in my experiences, atheists usually have a far greater knowledge of the bible than theists.
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27This man is an awful journalist.
- spelchek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22not really.
essentially christian theology allows pretty much anything to be forgiven.
as much as I hate westboro baptist, this is far from pwnage.
if they could get them to say their going to hell for what they do... that is pwnage.
besides, they're hypocrites. like they care that you think they are wrong. - OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22Many atheists are formerly religious. Otherwise they wouldn't be so bold in calling themselves atheist. Most people who lack belief tactfully call themselves agnostic because they don't want to start a fight with Christians. Atheists are a bit more confident and interested in the conflict. So yes, a lot of atheists know a lot about the Bible. Of course, this is all generalization!
- OCJeriko, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18According to everything the Westboro church has said in the past, the mother should go to Hell. He was using thier own arguments against them.
- IRoaChI, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18But its true.
- wafflez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14hypocrisy*
just your neighborhood spell checker =D - geometry, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Are you trying to say that the Bible contradicts itself? It can't be, please say it isn't so!!! My whole world is about to be shattered!!!
- p0tent1al, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14EXACTLY. One person who finally gets it. Most people I know are Athiest, SIMPLY because of their knowledge of the bible and their own religion. So yeah, most Athiests are experts.
I'm not exactly athiest, but I pretty can much turn the bible's teachings around on people like this guy did, when they have overstepped their boundaries. - m0rn1n6s74r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12"god invented the internet" = CLASSIC!!!!
- lwoj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Keith Allen said to him, "So you're the illegitimate son?" A very good example of the family's hypocrisy, which they artfully dodged by loudly interrupting and redirecting the conversation. I haven't seen enough of this guy to judge his skill as a journalist, but honestly, have you seen these guys in other interviews? They aren't interested in listening and trying to win over others with rational and civilized debate over their beliefs, they just want to tell you that they're right and you're wrong. He was just trying to get his point out, even if they weren't going to listen. He had to raise his voice back at them so that he could just be heard. At least he proved quite well that the Phelps family's twisted judgments apply to everyone except the Phelps family.
- spearce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10lol. just look at the comments from digg christians to know they aren't experts
- alwaysmc2, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Hmm... maybe I should explain the pwnage.
The Westbro Baptist Church says that gays go to hell, period. They say that that is unforgivable. That lady, however, apparently had an illegitimate son. If she is going to go to heaven, which I'm sure she believes, then that would mean that her sin (premarital sex) is forgivable. Well, if premarital sex is forgivable, that means that gays don't go to hell just for being gay.
And THAT, is the pwnage. That means that all of their ranting and raving is for nothing. - Psykus2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I was so fascinated by the one clip here, I found the first part (of 5) of the whole encounter here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt1kN6hzabc&mode=related&search= - WonderBoy55, on 10/10/2007, -21/+29So since Jesus died for my sins, I can sin my ass up and he takes the heat? Awesome!
(sarcasm) - Fracture98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Have a dialog with them? Find a few more videos of her before you relegate anyone to that challenge.
- TGMD, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Well I've read the bible three times... so yes?
- dstart, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yes, but he's a rather good comedian.
- CDRaff, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I don't know the full story here, why this video was put together,(To be honest I don't think I ever will. I can't stand people yelling at each other interrupting, and well being like children. I will probably never watch the whole of this video series or whatever it is because of that.) but why not just let the Fundamentalist Christians be just what they are. I understand it sucks that they run around saying that Homosexuals are going to hell, and that if you have an abortion that you are a sinner, but at the same time there are people who run around saying that if you drive a hummer you are an *****, and that if you believe in a god you are ignorant.
I guess what I am saying is that there are crazy people on all sides, those who believe that it is their way or no way, and will stop at nothing to get you on their way. There are the Christians who post signs saying that Homosexuals are going to hell, and Peta people who dump paint on old ladies in fur coats, there are environmentalists who put nails in trees so that chain saws break hurting their operators, so on and so on. In the long run those are the people who should be ignored, left alone to see the errors they are making. Put in a long timeout like the children they are. - bashar129, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6"If you argue with a fool you will be mistaken for one" -Benjamin Franklin
- homestar2525, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6He asked "Are you the illegitimate one?"
- sodascape, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Somebody give me a flame thrower.
- tatltat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7you dont "read" the bible like a book. i think most experts have read the book way more than three times.
- rhinopig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Awh yeah, and that part where that dude, jesus or whatever, takes that gun or rock or something and kills that other dude. man that part was so awesome.
- Flashman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Al Gore is God?
- cyberwarriorx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Yeah, but Islam isn't the largest, it's the second largest.
- urbanenomad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5good point...it is funny how a lot of Christians can pick and choose what is sin and what isn't. I am sure if we wanted to truly be faithful to the Bible we would all stop eating pork and shrimp and that we should all be worshiping on Saturday which is the Sabbath since that is what the 4th commandment reminds us to do. Yet we seemingly forget those laws.
- p0tent1al, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Wrong, and wrong.
He was trying to show them how incredibly stupid their reasoning was. By their OWN TEACHINGS, the mother's son would go to hell. One of the best ways of showing people how illogical their beliefs are, is turning it around on them like this man just did here gracefully.
Basically, the son with the hat started talking about stuff which he really doesn't know too well himself, and the guy featured in this video put it to rest like I would have. He really challenged him on his own beliefs. He asked him if he was born out of wedlock, and he FROZE, he had absolutely no answer. Even the woman had no answer. For people who so adamantly follow a religion and claim blasphemy to anything else, you better be damn well ready to explain your positions on stuff, and this family loses because of their own saying, her son is going to hell.
The guy himself personally doesn't believe in it, because it is preposterous, but by their OWN religion he is. He is merely pointing out the faults of their beliefs, and asking them what they think about it, which is why the title of this story is "Westboro Baptist Church gets owned by their OWN beliefs". - Puppetfunk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Well I've Listened to To "The Bible On Tape As Told By Vanilla Ice" Like 8 Times. especially for the part where he does the Jesus Rap "Go Jesus, Go Jesus, Go!" I'm Pretty sure I'm now an expert.
- Urusai, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6We need some atheism advocates that aren't so clearly disgusted with religion. Sure, religion is bad, but you don't win any converts by telling people their beliefs suck. You have to propose simple arguments that are not easily refutable, that force people to think. For instance, if you were born in India, would you be a Hindu? Why is your scripture more correct than this other scripture? Me being an atheist, can you explain why I should choose your faith over any other? If your god exists, and wants to subject me to his morality which I find objectionable, isn't he really my enemy, and shouldn't I work to resist him? You know, stuff like that.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4observation.
if God created the internet, you think he would have given it bigger tubes... - skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6This is exactly what my family does when I say that marijuana should be legalized.
- exomni, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10That wasn't a "bombshell". However stupid fundamental Christians are, having a child out of wedlock, or engaging in anal sex with a member of the same sex, are not acts that will necessarily send you to hell.
Here's a little quote from Paul:
"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"
Even the Westboro Baptist Church isn't so stupid that they can't even understand the most basic bit of Christian doctrine ever. The whole point is that Christ died as a sacrafice to atone for sins, and that if you believe on him, you will be saved from the consequence of sin: that is, death.
The point of Westboro Baptist Church isn't to say "you are doomed to die, period", the point is (and I quote WBC here) "to preach the Word of God to this crooked and perverse generation" and hope that "By our words, some will repent".
Another fun bible quote:
"Repent and be saved"
By the WBC's beliefs, the "mother" of WBC, who had a child out of wedlock, is not going to hell, because Jesus Christ died for her sins, and "not just our sins but for the sins of the world" (that's the bible there, btw, not WBC).
Seriously, I don't know who is more ignorant here, Keith Allen, or the dumb ***** in the WBC. This "pwnage" you ignoramuses are so fanatic about is no more than the base ignorance of Keith Allen.
A better title would be "Keith Allen doesn't understand even the most basic and fundamental idea of the largest religion in the world". - SimpleC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Of course he was! How else do you think he had 700 wives and 300 concubines?
- BenCoJones, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Unfortunately he really didn't set up a good argument and could have done much better with the crazy material he was working with. It's not that difficult to point out fundamentalist hipocracy.
- spearce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3i like the part when he called them a comedy troop that wouldn't exist with out the internet. star wars kid, ceiling cat, westboro baptist church.
- mattyG, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4uh yeah it doesn't say that anywhere
- MaTT2011, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3We have to point out how idiotic and harmful these people and these beliefs ARE! Or else more and more of the unwashed, ignorant masses will have no information and thus be more likely to become susceptable to such utter nonsense.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out complete stupidity in an effort to steer people away from it. - TalkingBanana, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Thank you, someone else understands that.
Something else people need to understand is that these people were brought up from birth to believe what they say is correct. When all someone is taught is that god hates fags and all sinners to such a high degree, they will believe it. Its not a matter of all of them being despicable *****, they are only doing what they believe is right, its a matter of Fred Phelps teaching this to his family. He is the one that deserves you anger, not his brainwashed family. - Kookami, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Leviticus 11:10-12: "And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you." Not much of a shrimp fan either
