- Cerpin_Taxt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+31That kid is gonna go far in life.
- HouD, on 10/28/2007, -3/+25Is it just me, or was this the most awkward piece of journalism that you've ever seen?
- dtrinh, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16THE iPhone hacker?! To say Geohot is 'THE' hacker who made this happen would be a gross slap in the face to the tons of others over at iPhonedev who slaved hundreds of hours working on this (and all of the steps leading to it).
- persecuted, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10"That kid" is going all the way to Mordor to destroy the ring...
I'm sorry, but he looks like Frodo. Very cool guy. - UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14It's amazing how this kid hacked the iPhone entirely by himself... Oh wait...
- JlmAWP, on 10/10/2007, -7/+15Screw hacking the brain, this kid seems like he could build one from scratch.
- mobilehavoc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Seems unfair that this kid is getting all the glory for work that even he admits in his video is the result of hard work by several other people. How do we know that he even has a clue about any of this? What if everyone else did the research and all this kid did was the follow the instructions.
Lame. - jdavscru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Inaccurate. He used the robot in the striped shirt.
- Visk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4That kid's going to RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) this fall.
REPRESENT!! - S1ngular1ty1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You sir are an idiot.
- quomen, on 10/10/2007, -13/+15How is the iphone the gadget of the year? Maybe the most publicized one, but definitely not the best.
..fanboy much? - bs0l, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2GO NEW JERSEY
finally someone cool from my state - Mothrog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"It's Apple's phone... It's AT&T's network."
Oh yes! AT&T is to blame! Not the company that designed and produced the iPhone, and ultimately signed an exclusivity deal with AT&T.
"
To all of you who feel empowered by breaking the tie that binds these two companies... I hope you understand that your efforts will inevitably result in raised prices for the iPhone hardware, as the phone was priced based on the kickbacks received from AT&T exclusivity."
Oh noes!
"Are we clear?"
Yes, I'm clear. You're a moron. - staffrocket, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1His fluff of hair sticking out the side made the video diggable though. :)
- bernmeister, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Hes going to a good school and hes going to do well in it. RIT is my school btw.
- HyperDav, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It was interesting but the reporter made it sound lame. He sounded like he just came out of a coma.
- djjuice, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2except the way he hacked it, is an illegal way, more so illegal to put it up for sale.
- ICSU, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2All the way to the court?
- varunb007, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Nope, according to the video, there's an exception in the law for unlocking phones to use on any carrier so what he did is legal.
- unununium272, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Hahaha, this kid is a friend of mine. He was on my hall at summer camp. Cool kid.
- badboys213, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0you can add him as a friend on facebook
- Hollyweird, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Sure, sure... Digg me down all you dudes with tiny weiners carrying iPhones to compensate
- kelly, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3"a way to break the lock tying Apples iPhone to its wireless network"
Sounds like the news submitter is an Apple hater... as he's implying that this rests solely on Apple's shoulders.
It's Apple's phone... It's AT&T's network.
To all of you who feel empowered by breaking the tie that binds these two companies... I hope you understand that your efforts will inevitably result in raised prices for the iPhone hardware, as the phone was priced based on the kickbacks received from AT&T exclusivity.
Please remember that when Apple inevitably raises prices... or at best doesn't lower prices as when the demand would have otherwise warranted a price reduction. Remember it because by hacking the iPhone you and all you supporters of the effort are disallowing yourself to adopt the argument that "Apple is just being greedy" with its inevitable price increase... or lack of price reduction.
This will rest on YOUR shoulders. Not Apple's.
Are we clear? - willhockey16, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2That kid is intense!
- jpetrides, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3It says "arguably" the gadget of the year.
- FinestCall, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0Screw RIT and MIT, he should work for apple.
- JasonHilton, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Screw RIT, he should be going to MIT.
- arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1That's what she said
- JC4P, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2No he's not, he said on another interview that he only did it to help out the community and blah blah blah, yet he's selling his iPhone on eBay.
- Hollyweird, on 10/10/2007, -12/+2iPhone, ShmiPhone... look at my tiny weiner.
- arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1Lets see you do it..
