My family left because of it. Whether it is the centuries of backward thinking and dictatorship or the poor economy that has plagued the country for ages, for some reason, the people there blame everything bad on the minorities. It even states in your passport under "nationality" whether you are Russian or Jewish. Meaning that jews are not even considered to be russian.

A gun could be handy but won't help you much unless you are a) trained to handle one and b) can actually get to it. Look at these attacks - the poor guys are not expecting to be jumped by 5 people - I know very people who could have gotten out of that one without their face getting kicked in. This is not Chucky Chan - seriously - this is the ugly truth of this type of violence which is rampant in Russia as well as Britain (Happy Slapping).
Very sad stuff to watch honestly - almost brought me to tears - the guy at the end literally got his face kicked in. Punishment for these types of acts should be to the fullest extend of the law. But as we all know - the bastard government over there doesn't really care that much. For that reason, if I was living as a foreigner in Russia, I'd have a knife in my pocket with my hand on it at all times. First time you realize you get kicked in the head you try to recover and immediately go for the throat, eyes, and testicles. There was a group of 5 grown men & she was a 18 year old girl & a 100% white, blonde hair blue eyed german. They did not like her hip hop style of dress at the time & all beat her to near death.
