- schabrat14, on 10/12/2007, -2/+111I love how it says "please dont spoil the illusion" and the first comment is the spoiler.....haha gotta love digg!
- falcon707, on 10/12/2007, -16/+91SPOILER:
It's a very simple trick (that requires a lot of practice to make it look that smooth). Notice how at 00:23 in the video his right hand is clenched together. He's basically moving the grip from his index finger to his middle finger (to get around the other rubber band) and then right back again. - timbellomo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37Goddamn you half-japanese magicians! You do it to me everytime.
- dime, on 10/12/2007, -5/+33You're right, and it's misleading.
I for one was expecting a midget. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -10/+39What's the point of "Half Japanese" in the description?
If he was white, would you have written "White Magician?"
Would you write "Half Black Magician" for someone?
How was that relevant at all to the story? - guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24Get out! I thought it was real magic!
- drenader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Speaking english is cool and trendy in Japan.
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9http://www.goodtricks.net/crazy.html
- jcapogna, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Usually I would agree with you, but since the narrator was speaking in Japanese I think it makes some sense to say Japanese in the title.
- FBMGriever, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12@ CLIFFosakaJAPAN
Chill out man. I for one am glad he instructed me on the trick because well, I couldnt figure it out. None of us care about how you have been doing tricks for years. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Ever hear someone say "voila!" in English?
How about "gesundheit," "c'est la vie," "ciao, bella," or "a certain je ne sais quoi?" - CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I wrote that part of him being Half Japanese because one of the other tricks that I submitted that made the Front Page had many comments on how he would mix English in his Japanese Speech. I just thought that if I mentioned that he was half Japanese, it would reduce comments regarding his habit of mixing the 2 languages together during his performances
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5adraft, you missed the point.
I was asking why it is necessary to point out the fact that this magician is half-Japanese, and how weird it would be to write the same thing about someone as a "half-black" magician.
Cliff's point makes sense, he was trying to explain why he's speaking in English part of the time. I'd hardly expect Cliff to be a racist.
See, I asked a question, it got answered. End of. - BulkHedd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"God, that was so easy to see how he did it - the first 7 seconds gives it away"
I hope you're joking. The real tricky bit doesn't happen until about 23 seconds. Until that point everything is legit. - Fenrok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Avbh5fb8nY&NR

If you dont want to know how a trick is performed, probably should stay out the comment section..
I was going to be annyed if noone told how to do it, but didnt expect it in the first comment - cuposmuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4cyril is the best man... he ask this chick to pick the first hamburger...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oDzrD-Iy4Y&mode=related&search=japanese%20magician%20takayama - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13I've watched this video about 2 dozen times now and I have concluded that is, infact, magic. There is no way he could have unhooked it in front of the camera.
- estacado, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Being a magician is hard enough, but a half-japanese magician, that truly is an amazing feat.
- shoover, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I, for one, welcome our new half-Japanese overlords...
- adraft, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Come on guys, it's not racist until you all make such a huge deal about it. There was really nothing offensive about it at all.
Plus, I mean, speaking for my part of the U.S, we're supposed to call black people "African-American," why does it have to matter that they're African?
So chill out, you're all to PC. - Animal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This has always been one of my favorite quick tricks to do for people because you can usually do it really close up and even repeat it a second time since the move is really hard to catch unless you know it or are looking for it. The problem I find is either finding two rubber bands or being that weird guy that for some reason carries around two rubber bands.
- PeteyEks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Did you guys catch the link after the video plays? About the kid getting teabagged IRL, LMFAO
- Ebeniz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3cough cough
http://www.oujod.com/2006/10/06/contributed-by-ebeniz-copperfields-elastic-trick/ - ae92, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Japan uses more English than any other language in the world... about 10-15% of their current language is borrowed English words.
And English is definitely "cool", still, and will probably continue to be until the Japanese education system figures out how to teach it properly and takes the mystery out of it. :)
BTW, his Japanese is pretty heavily accented... he sounds very American, although he could be playing up the accent too. - cuposmuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3also he does these periceing matter tricks... this one is with a train station entry... he did one with a fish tank full of water and fish...more impressive..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf2HRhENNow&mode=related&search=japanese%20magician%20takayama - almighty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Regardless of what race he is, Cyril Takayama is my favorite magician. You should see some of his other tricks. Especially the card trick he does with a fish tank.
- goldeen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He might be halfie, but I can tell that his first language is an English. I am also a halfie and grew up in JPN, so I can recoganize his accent.
Two things for sure that he is a great magician, and he is a bilingual, capable using two languages. What a fantastic!! - EviLiu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I have an honest question. It's fairly safe to say that he is in Japan. During his magic he is talking to the audience in Japanese. But occasionally he will say a few English words. "A kiss for you." And a few other lines. Why? Wouldn't the audience not understand it? Imagine a magician speaking in your language, then just going off into tongues. It would be kind of weird.
- porkstacker, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8I think that what they meant by "Half Japanese Magician" was that the other half was a "Jewish prostitute"... or something.
(ducks, runs away) - ianconley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1where's the half african american magician who does this *****? would that make him african or american? further, what if he were south african? Would he be half-african-north/south-american? *****!
- insllvn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2oh ***** what is this reference? it is on the tip of my tongue! help me digg!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Actually, in our modern society, Japanese is synonomous with humorous, high-tech, and shows with no point.
- Trueblood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Back in my magician days, I heard a great piece of advice: Amateur magicians do different tricks for the same people, professionals do the same tricks for different people.
Sadly, TV magicians always need new material every show, and it ends up dragging the bottom of the barrel after a while.
This trick was cool when Copperfield first did it on TV 10 years ago. _I_ do it better that Cyril... - fascfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The fish tank card trick and subsequent followup with the hand through the glass is probably the best magic trick I've ever seen in my entire life. For the life of me, I do not know how that was accomplished without special effects.
- peachesanime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I agree the rubber band trick isn't really that great, but how about this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-DqqsRGLZo - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hahaha, the mom crying at the end made it for me.
- xeno439, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wheres the mirrror url? This is not working.
- peachesanime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Whoops, this is the full video...the one above is truncated.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdqk_Apn5vM&eurl= - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -2/+1missed it
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Thank you. I was thinking the same thing above. It just sounds unintentionally racist.
- jedimasta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Well, I don't know about stolen, this trick has been around for ages. Copperfield did this on a special, ironically in china (yeah, I know not Japan, but asian) when he did his walk through the great wall thing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Why the ***** are they always like "AAAHHOOOOOHHH" when they see the trick? It's like it scares them...
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2God, that was so easy to see how he did it - the first 7 seconds gives it away. The soon-to-be outer rubber band goes slack and disconnects from his thumb, whereupon he slips the now-inner rubber band between the other band and his thumb.
The trick to watching illusions is to not listen to what they're saying (muted sound prevents misdirections) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Correction: Japanese Illusionist uses 2 Rubber Bands to show Solid-thru-Solid
poor, poor arrested development :( - ianconley, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1This would be even more impressive if it were a FULL Japanese Magician. This Wasian Magician ***** has got to stop. I've had enough.
- windex99, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I've been doing this trick for 12 years, since i was a teenager. I mean come on, why upload this? Am i just getting old?
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4jcapogna -
Yes, I agree that mentioning that the video is in Japanese makes sense, like the title does. But why does adding magician's race in the description make a difference?
"Half-Japanese" doesn't tell me what language is going to be spoken, it just points out the guy's race. It's kind of creepy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Correction: Illusionist uses 2 Rubber Bands to show Solid-thru-Solid
Japanese is irrelevant to the story line. - Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Get your ***** Politically Correct panties out of a wad you *****.
