- kalleanka, on 11/11/2007, -10/+203I was just reminded why I never applied to be in the military.
- supermajic, on 11/11/2007, -2/+179Holy *****. 'Unbelievable' was actually used appropriately here. Dugg.
- cavie2002, on 11/09/2007, -22/+118why are we over there again?
- OhTheHumanity1, on 11/11/2007, -2/+98I kept watching it again and again wondering how in the world that was real... the scale of that explosion....
- Squeeky, on 11/09/2007, -0/+93It wasn't planted under the road..
If you watch closely, there is a large truck driving slowly in front of an approaching convoy. As the convoy approaches, the truck pulls to the side of the road to let it by. As the first vehicle attempts to pass, the VBIED detonates. - Shiftgood, on 11/10/2007, -10/+98It makes me so mad that people behave like this.
- boris92, on 11/08/2007, -4/+69You need to learn how to read and write English before you can correct others.
- sandbird, on 11/11/2007, -3/+65It's scary as hell when you think the insurgents have figured out how to make an explosion like that out of conventionals.
- innocentsinner, on 11/08/2007, -2/+63Well I definitely wasn't expecting that much. Holy *****.
- DvidY, on 11/08/2007, -8/+67Oh MY!
- samcrut, on 11/11/2007, -9/+61I'm totally not condoning that kind of violence, but if a foreign country were to "liberate the USA from the Bush regime" by military force, and then occupy our country for years and years, you'd bet your ass there would be an underground movement right here doing the same thing to the occupiers. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying I can see what would drive a man to do that. We shouldn't be there. The longer we're there, the more people we piss off and the more they're going to be looking to blow up anything in camouflage.
- spammishking, on 11/11/2007, -1/+49You missed the 4 vehicle convoy? what else do you think they were trying to blow up?
- rotarychainsaw, on 11/07/2007, -5/+48Note to self, don't get close to really slow trucks.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -9/+51bring the troops home now!
- lobsterxcore, on 11/11/2007, -5/+43***** Brutal.

Full of religious people that think sex and nakedness is worse than suicide bombings? Yep. - stevedclarke, on 11/08/2007, -1/+31I'd take nudity over death any day.
- colto, on 11/07/2007, -4/+33***** you man. We are talking about people losing their lives here. Show some respect.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -5/+33Where they got them? "Some 380 tons of explosives powerful enough to detonate nuclear warheads are missing from a former Iraqi military facility that was supposed to be under American control, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog agency says."
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/25/iraq.exp ...
Rumsfeld failed to plan for protecting it. They were clueless. They tried to blame the Iraqi interim government for it, but it was clearly the US' fault that the site was looted, I mean, you are supposed to secure that sort of site, naturally. I read somewhere that this stuff - high grade explosives - were enough to do a couple of Lockerbie type commercial jet bombings every day for 20 years. And then Bush went on to say that the US & the World was safer due to the Iraq invasion. - Fooby, on 11/07/2007, -0/+28Youtube doesn't update in realtime.
- yaddayaddayoda, on 11/07/2007, -0/+27And that, my friends, is precisely what the DARPA Grand Challenge was for. They would like to make all military supply convoys unmanned in the next 10 years or so. So no loss of life... for our side.
- jkendel, on 11/11/2007, -12/+37Does it bother anyone else that people will bitch about NSWF for even the slightest hint of sex/porn in a post yet a convoy is clearly manged and no one says a damn thing. Is this what society has become?

- inactive, on 11/09/2007, -2/+27You have your campaigns mixed up
- ocellnuri, on 11/07/2007, -2/+25There's a van driving away from the camera (in the right-hand lanes) that pulls over to the side of the road, men get out, and then the bomb goes off across from them on the left-hand side of the road. Manual trigger?
Insane blast. Grips my stomach to think what it must be like to be in the middle of that. I hope we can get our men/women out of there soon. - nshady, on 11/08/2007, -1/+23The silence makes it worse.
- gaagaale, on 11/11/2007, -4/+26holly *****. I wasn't expecting that, i almost jumped from my chair.
- siszam, on 11/11/2007, -4/+24Wrong. President Bush does not represent Americans and make no mistake, Americas military is over there because Bush and friends consider the military to be disposable for profit.
- gcacho, on 11/07/2007, -3/+22God that's scary.
- gregm11, on 11/08/2007, -3/+22The dude in the white SUV in foreground had to be thanking Allah after that.

- Figgueroa, on 11/11/2007, -5/+21that's "grounds" for....."let's get the ***** out!!!"
- paintballing66, on 11/07/2007, -1/+16Wow...even with no sound, when it went off I jumped. How could a truck that size produce an explosion that big? Ridiculous.
- boris92, on 11/07/2007, -2/+17LOL i'm Canadian and i know my American political parties better than you.
- SiNN4R, on 11/07/2007, -3/+17Not the entire religion.. just a large enough portion to be very statistically significant
- DesertDude, on 11/11/2007, -4/+17These things happen on a regular basis. Lots of Americans and Iraqi security forces die in them. You will not hear about the American casualties, and the Iraqi NG and police are called "civilians" by the Iraqi government, i.e. truck bomb kills 30 children, 20 women, 200 perpetrators are hunted down and killed, one American wounded. This is more of a media war than it is a military one.
- mjl5629, on 11/07/2007, -0/+13The bomber was aiming for the Humvee and more likely the "Meerkat" right behind it. The Meerkat is a vehicle that swipes the roads for IED's.
http://www.hq.usace.army.mil/history/DefAm_Test.ht ... - incaseyoucare, on 11/11/2007, -1/+14 This is most likely a very large VBIED. The pre-positioned camera, makes me think its possibly remote detonated. However, the scenario plays out exactly like most common VBIED attacks do, and there are many similar VBIED attacks that have been caught on tape as well.
A large truck filled with explosives drives slowly along a major military route. A convoy slows down and bunches up behind the truck and signals for it to pull over. As the convoy passes the truck detonates--usually towards the front of the convoy, as the Commander is expected to be in one of the lead vehicles.
VBIED attacks should be relatively easy to avoid, at least compared to well placed IED's. You just have to avoid getting close to any vehicles on the road and never let your convoy get bunched up. If there is a slow moving vehicle ahead, or any vehicle that gets too close, signal it (usually with warning shots) to pull over, well ahead of the convoy, then pass it at a distance, even if it requires crossing to the other side of the road and driving against traffic--the difference between even 3 meters and 30 meters within a blast radius, is significant. The problem with this approach is that you have to shoot a lot of warning shots and occasionally engage a suspicious vehicle if they refuse to pull over. This is not good for PR. That level of aggressive defensive action wont win us many friends in Iraq and certainly wont be understood by the general public in america. Because of this I think that the VBIED type of attack is very useful for the insurgency, the attacks are very lethal and effective but any realistic defense will be perceived as being overly aggressive. - Dundasbro, on 11/11/2007, -6/+19"Look at me, i'm an expert on bombs posting on Digg"
- lucidguru, on 11/08/2007, -5/+18You can see a flash right where the bomb went off. It looks like it was planted under the road.
- bananabomb, on 11/07/2007, -4/+16Are you retarded?
- digghalo, on 11/07/2007, -3/+15Improvised my ass. This was clearly a very well engineered bomb with the obvious purpose of killing as many people as possible. I can't imagine if this had been packed with shrapnel. Thank god this didn't go off in the middle of a market.
- boris92, on 11/07/2007, -1/+13most likely
- ZeroOrDie, on 11/07/2007, -6/+17I'm still in shock from watching that. Holy crap.
- samcrut, on 11/07/2007, -0/+11An IED isn't a standardized product from Bombs R Us. It's an Improvised Explosive Device. It can be anything from a pipe bomb to a backpack full of C4 to a truck filled with fertilizer doused with diesel. It can be big or small. It's an umbrella term for anything hobbled together by the resistance that goes boom.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -0/+11I don't think there is enough information in this video to determine that.
