For every negative video about a soldier there is a positive one. Let's be a bit optimistic about the situation our soldiers are in and have done over there even if you disagree with the war.- jesscott98, on 03/03/2008, -43/+9For every negative one there are a hundred positive ones. But that wouldn't serve the peace nazi's purpose would it?
- completerobot, on 03/03/2008, -4/+37Peace Nazi? Are you ***** serious?
- theaceoffire, on 03/03/2008, -3/+23Yeah! Just cause dogs, puppies, children, families, and innocents get attacked doesn't mean that we haven't earned it by being nice to that one guy over there!
***** you, no one should do this, and the punishment should be swift and severe. - Logicexe, on 03/03/2008, -1/+10Peace Nazi is my new word of the day.
- ciaran036, on 03/03/2008, -2/+4You haven't made any sense of the situation have you? These soldiers are killing innocent HUMANS, this single individual marine has looked after a dog, whilst holding a gun which he has probably used to kill many people, often without justification!
- richbleak, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5I'm going to go out, find a homeless person, and get them back on their feet. Directly after this I am going to go out, rob a bank, and kill 4 people in the process. During my trial my only defense will be the fact that I turned that homeless person's life around. How do you think that will go for me? Stupid *****.
- waynetheman, on 03/03/2008, -0/+8Peace nazis?
Holy crap... speaking out against war gets one labeled a NAZI now? Man, those Amish are going to have quite a time defending themselves at the next war crimes tribunal..... sheesh...
Transfer much? - cazoo, on 03/04/2008, -0/+2what kind of bizarro world do you live in jesscott98?
- aelias, on 03/05/2008, -0/+2I'm going to go way out on a limb here and guess shes a female with a brother/BF/Hubby in the military.
- talonstriker, on 03/04/2008, -0/+2"Peace nazi"
Oh man, i wish someone would call me that.
- AlexWills, on 03/03/2008, -22/+7Sorry I guess Diggers are offended by "positive" messages concerning the soldiers. Not really surprised.
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -3/+10I'm all for positive messages, I just think if you post "For every negative video about a soldier there is a positive one" you should actually match it.
The ratio so far is 20:1 not 1:1 - dinostabOMG, on 03/03/2008, -2/+9So, it would be fine if I were to sodomize your auntie as long as I complement her interior decorating, right?
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -8/+1I'm glad to see that you have sodomizing a person and complimenting interior design on the same ethical plane.
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -8/+1I'm glad to see that you have sodomizing a person and complimenting interior design on the same ethical plane.
- Mejari, on 03/03/2008, -1/+11So, how many positive stories does it take to make it ok to kill unarmed civilians and puppies? We all know that the military does some good things, but that doesn't excuse them when some of them are inhuman ***** pricks that deserve a good beating and life imprisonment.
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2That's not what I'm saying.
I was merely commenting on the fact that someone had written "for every negative there is a positive" and not supported it.
Never once in my posts do I say anything about supporting the war or killing civilians. If you're going to say for every negative video there is a positive one below a post with 20 negative videos then match your statement and post 20 positive videos.
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2That's not what I'm saying.
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -3/+10I'm all for positive messages, I just think if you post "For every negative video about a soldier there is a positive one" you should actually match it.
- source1984, on 03/03/2008, -6/+15Oh, what's this? Some people are good and some are bad? But but, when we say that about the Muslims you all are like "Noooo, its an evil religion, they're all evil!!!". Listen, this negativity, like shooting unarmed civilians - KILLS PEOPLE. Handing out candies/water/food is nothing compared to taking a life. You freakin wrecked the whole country, demolished its infrastructure, caused 500,000 kids to die with sanctions, AND NOW YOU WANNA HAND OUT FOOD?? YOU FREAKIN BETTER HAND OUT THE FOOD. AND GET YOUR ASS OUT.
- AlexWills, on 03/03/2008, -13/+2You people? I didn't know insurgents actually had access to Digg. Maybe we are doing some good in Iraq if you guys can access the internet so readily now? I'm sure the hundreds of thousands personally executed by Saddam's men in Iraq and Kuwait would've loved that luxury.
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -3/+0Violence begets violence.
- ciaran036, on 03/03/2008, -1/+3optimistic? Don't be so bloody stupid nothing can ever justify the killing of innocent civilians, never mind those who rebel against oppression!
- Barbosa, on 03/03/2008, -5/+3The guys in the video are combat soldiers. While I cannot defend their actions, I do understand that being in a war where you kill other human beings can have the effect of making you callous to suffering in general. I'm sure they were not born with a proclivity for animal torture or people torture. War, along with ignorance and poverty are the main obstacles to ending animal and human cruelty.
- OldJesser, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5Please don't apologize for their actions. There is no reason to behave like this, war or otherwise. Go talk to a well-disciplined soldier, or a WWII vet. Ask how we interrogated Germans by treating them as human beings, or how we fought to rescue Asia from the actions that the Japanese soldiers (who were similar to the current soldiers we are seeing in these links) were performing.
- Barbosa, on 03/03/2008, -2/+3Are you trying to tell me that some level of cruelty did not occur on all sides in WWII (as it does in all wars)? Please do not wax nostalgic for the good old days of "humane" warfare because there is no such thing. In the current war (and all others) there will be pockets of cruelty.
- OldJesser, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2I'm not saying cruel things didn't happen on both sides. I'm saying it wasn't so widely accepted that it was "ok because war messes up people". And don't think for a moment that we even came close to the atrocities carried out by the Japanese soldiers, because only the current lot of immature chest-thumping undisciplined kids are re-enacting that mess.
- iChainsaw, on 03/04/2008, -3/+1Today we have the internet and video cameras. They didn't back then. I still respect any soldier regardless.
- UltraMegaFilms, on 03/04/2008, -0/+3It's not that I don't respect soldiers, it's just that, they ***** signed their name up so they could get that 20 grand to buy their Camero. I, like most, oppose this ***** war, and when many soldiers are running around out of control pulling crap like this, my only "support" for them is to pull their asses out and prevent more deaths on either side. I am so sick if this bald eagle, flag flapping *****. It's amazing you ***** still even have the balls or breath to open your pie holes. You "never forgot" and you ***** up, now get out of the way.
- OldJesser, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5Please don't apologize for their actions. There is no reason to behave like this, war or otherwise. Go talk to a well-disciplined soldier, or a WWII vet. - StaticThunder, on 03/03/2008, -1/+3I think the war immoral, and thus I should support the people carrying it out, overlook the atrocities for the good of the soldiers who didn't participate? Is that the argument?
Any individual soldier may or may not have much choice in the matter, but as far as I'm concerned, soldiers are now hired guns for the government. I don't owe them anything.
Maybe when they get back to defending our borders and our lives, rather than spending trillions of tax dollars to promote ideologies oversea.
- jesscott98, on 03/03/2008, -43/+9For every negative one there are a hundred positive ones. But that wouldn't serve the peace nazi's purpose would it?
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -14/+20You still need about 19 positive videos to catch up.
- AlexWills, on 03/03/2008, -11/+3Type in "Soldier killing insurgent" and more than 19 videos will come up. Though only in a movie would people killing men that tape bombs and marbles to children be considered "good".
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -1/+7You've lost me.
But I don't think I would ever consider killing anybody as a "good" outcome. - OldJesser, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2Wanting an oppressive enemy force out of one's homeland isn't evil, so killing one of their fighters isn't necessarily good. Would it be an easier illustration if we called America "the Empire" and the insurgents "Rebel Scum"?
- sgtpppr, on 03/03/2008, -1/+7You inadvertently hit on the core problem with a whole lot of people today: killing people is never a 'good' outcome yet a large portion of the population believes they have the right and the ability to judge others in a life and death manner. Both sides are guilty of this. I can understand the brainwashed religious nuts on the Islamic side and their cultish approach to life, but I sit and watch Americans try and use logic to justify killing people. When that doesn't work, the Christian faction steps in and starts using the same rhetoric as the Muslims.
- StarlessKnight, on 03/03/2008, -0/+6Following up with sgtpppr, people should read Mark Twain's "The War Prayer."
An excerpt (a quick search has the full text here: http://www.ntua.gr/lurk/making/warprayer.html):
"You have heard your servant's prayer -- the uttered part of it. I am commissioned of God to put into words the other part of it -- that part which the pastor -- and also you in your hearts -- fervently prayed silently. And ignorantly and unthinkingly? God grant that it was so! You heard these words: 'Grant us the victory, O Lord our God!' That is sufficient. the *whole* of the uttered prayer is compact into those pregnant words. Elaborations were not necessary. When you have prayed for victory you have prayed for many unmentioned results which follow victory--*must* follow it, cannot help but follow it. Upon the listening spirit of God fell also the unspoken part of the prayer. He commandeth me to put it into words. Listen!
"O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle -- be Thou near them! With them -- in spirit -- we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it -- for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
(*After a pause.*) "Ye have prayed it; if ye still desire it, speak! The messenger of the Most High waits!"
- GJBlizzard, on 03/03/2008, -1/+7You've lost me.
- AlexWills, on 03/03/2008, -11/+3Type in "Soldier killing insurgent" and more than 19 videos will come up. Though only in a movie would people killing men that tape bombs and marbles to children be considered "good".
- ciaran036, on 03/03/2008, -2/+40Although this has disturbed me a lot thank you for posting these links this! Question is, why the hell haven't these videos been shown all over the media and the men been arrested? They have clearly murdered many people here (The video where they shoot unarmed innocent civilians and then celebrate), why the ***** hasn't anything been done about it? Someone take these videos to CNN immediately! If they don't show it you know there's something badly up. If they'd rather show Paris Hilton than this then you know there's something seriously wrong. On Bloody Sunday in Ireland, 13 innocent people were killed by British Paratroopers for marching against Catholic oppression, and that made world headlines. This is WORSE than Abu Ghraib - that obviously just touches the surface of what is going on in Iraq! And to think that this is what they have on video - I don't want to imagine what happens when the camera is turned off!
Does anyone know how I could get in contact with media outlets to show them these videos?
The men in these videos are barely human and should be treated like dogs - even though these men treat their fellow humans WORSE than we would treat a dog!- potisreallygood, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5They would simply say that they ran a checkpoint or were driving aggressive or some other BS, although it seems as though they are trying to get the ***** out of the area. The men didn't have weapons, just seem to be caught up in the crossfire. It makes you wonder if anyone was in the houses across the street and whose house the soldiers were on top of. Just making themselves at home with a crap load of guns.
- atact88, on 03/03/2008, -6/+3Traffic was blockaded from the area several hundred yards out. They were up against a sniper. There was no reason for any civilians to be running into the middle of an ongoing gunbattle. You have not seen the war with your own eyes, don't you dare make a judgement from a video clip you saw on the internet. You ignorant sods.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -2/+3I'll make a judgement if I damn well please. You tell me when killing an innocent person is ok. Do it.
***** you, I don't want to hear your ***** answer.
"Oh, if they didn't want to die, they shoudl have just flown out of the country for the duration" Why not just be THAT ignorant you ***** prick. - ciaran036, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1Ok. Same scenario then. Perhaps gun psychopath is on the loose in a school in America. Police arrive. Police open fire on psychopath. Can you imagine the reaction if police started shooting students dead too? atact88, don't ever try and justify the murder of innocent civilians. And we can bloody clearly see and hear the soldiers cheering and exclaiming 'Oh I got that guy good' (etc.). And I don't see armed Iraqi's or any kind of attack. There's no possible way to justify it so please do not even try. If you think you can, please go and get yourself educated first and re-evaluate whether you think you can call yourself a Christian or not.
- atact88, on 03/06/2008, -0/+0they were NOT civilians
- Lennalf, on 03/03/2008, -0/+5The war is good business. They will publish the news that *they* see fit, with regard to their own best interests (and those of their partners/affiliates). Hell, they just decided to exclude so-called fringe candidates from the mainstream presidental debate process. We shouldn't trust the majority of these major media outlets if we want accurate information about important things.
- waynetheman, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3Because showing these videos nationwide might cut into the profits that war (whether Iraq, Iran or Darfur) can generate. And the establishment wouldn't want that to happen.
- rexblade, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3The last thing the media wants is for the people to wake the ***** up! Oh yeah.... the surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working?
- samssf, on 03/04/2008, -0/+4I think it's time to move to Denmark. The majority of US citizens don't care about much as long as they have TV and access to pizza delivery.
- wetnap, on 03/04/2008, -2/+0because with a few snippets of videos you can selectively show what you want with no context.
you think thats bad. imagine the videos from insurgent activity that you don't see.
- potisreallygood, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5They would simply say that they ran a checkpoint or were driving aggressive or some other BS, although it seems as though they are trying to get the ***** out of the area. Now thats just funny. - deltron, on 03/03/2008, -2/+18I was talking to some Marines that came into my work once, on a leave trying to recruit, and they talked about blowing up dogs, shooting em, etc. I told them they were ***** in the head but apparently it's VERY typical out there... We need to leave.
- elliotks, on 03/03/2008, -0/+4Yeah I agree, they've been out in the sun too long. At least its not like in Vietnam where they are killing off families for the hell of it.
- paperclipsNsoup, on 03/04/2008, -0/+4I know a marine who went to Iraq twice... He's really ***** up now, and every time you talk about Iraq, or the military, he, quit literally, gets up and leaves without saying a word. He won't talk about it, other than "***** Bush" "***** the Marines" and "***** Iraq", this is coming from the mouth of a recently discharged (honorably) Marine.
- elliotks, on 03/03/2008, -0/+4Yeah I agree, they've been out in the sun too long. At least its not like in Vietnam where they are killing off families for the hell of it.

- IpecacNeat, on 03/04/2008, -1/+2Muzy, come on man. I want us out of Iraq. I want Obama for Prez, I'm not a crazy right wing nut, but having a military is important. We don't live in a world where if we kept to ourselves, everyone would leave us alone. People would still hate us. I don't know about you, but I respect the military. Sure, the stuff just shown is sick, but there are sick people everywhere. I'll get you some videos of highly educated people acting sick. I don't mind our military going into Afghanistan, or to help in Africa.
